Well that was pretty quick... simfile complete.
Matataku Hoshi no Shita de / Porno Graffiti
BPM: 135 || Length: 1:31
Rated 4 | 6 | 9
X-Rated 6 | 10 | 13
A couple years back I was going through some really tough times, and for some reason, I stumbled upon the art of anime openings while flipping through YouTube. I had really gotten into studying how they were cut, how they fit the concept of each show, and how the video was made, and I'd stay up really late at night just watching and listening to them. It was one of the biggest things that kept me occupied during that difficult period, and this here (2nd OP, Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic) is the opening to the only anime series I watched from start to finish. (I also considered 1st ED from the same series, but it's not quite as step-able and it's kinda cheesy idol-pop. I might upload that one separately.)
Additionally, since this is an anime opening, this is also my first simfile with background video.

So I had to remove Cyber Girl. Found out I did make a simfile for it a long time ago.

BITE / Benjamin Briggs
1/1 3/4 5/7 8/11 9/13
Pokemon Gold was the first game that I ever put more than 100 hours into, so naturally I've listened to the game's soundtrack a lot. Even though it's not the first time I had ever heard 8-bit music (far from it, actually; my first video game ever was Super Mario Bros. on the NES), this is the game when I realized that I actually enjoyed the sound of 8-bit bloops. I've been kind of a sucker for chiptunes ever since.
This remix of the Ice Path theme keeps a lot of the 8-bit charm while also tossing in some heavy beats and a funky synth.

Sentimental value, sentimental value...This week was a hard one for me!
★……☆僕の気持ちを描く ヽ(。・∀・。)ノ Mr.T feat.NU-KO☆……★
1 | 3 | 7 | 9
(Suggested X-scale ratings: 2 | 5 | 9 | 12)
Why do I say this week was a hard one? Well, it was pretty darn hard for me to think of a song that would work for the theme...(゚д゚*) Most of the songs I was thinking of were either pretty cringeworthy, not very steppable, or both...I didn't even know if I would be able to submit a file this week until I remembered this song (゚ω゚=)
So, what is the sentimental value it has...?
Well, it's the Pop'n Music éclale theme song - and I joined ZIv one day after éclale had came out! If it hadn't been for éclale, I honestly wouldn't have ever joined this site...✧\\ ٩(|[*'v'*]|)و //✧
And, on top of that, this is one of my favorite éclale tunes d(*^ω’*)b
In addition, éclale was the "new Pop'n game" when I was in my final year of middle school, so the song really just reminds me of my middle school days as a whole♪ Whenever I listen to this song, I always feel kinda tingly inside to be quite honest - it takes me back to my early days on ZIv and my happy middle school memories. Even though it isn't that long ago and it isn't the biggest impact ever, it's still a significant sentimental value for me. ( ´ω`)

This is a really silly video that was uploaded to YouTube over 7 years ago (hard to even believe it's been that long) and has been shared as an inside joke between me and a few of my friends over the years. Every few months one of us shares it with each other and we all laugh and then forget about it until the next time it's shared. I don't know what else to say about this song other than it's really silly and makes me laugh for some reason.
I wrote the charts sort of inspired by an old course from years ago (I can't even remember if it's an official course that appeared in a DDR AC/CS game or was just some Stepmania pack) where one of the stages had you playing Ecstasy (Midnight Blue Mix) with 1.5x, reverse and dark all on. It's surprising how a long with tricky timing and foot patterns can really mess you up with those mods on, especially when you have a verify limited lifebar, so I kind of played with that idea in my charts and added in a sprinkling of newer DDR chart elements as well.

[SENTIMENTAL PSY-GOA]
Wanted To - Infected Mushroom feat. Maya Isacowitz
BPM: 36-218 (~145)
Length: 1:4
S: 1 (2) / 4 (5) / 5 (7) / 8 (11) / 9 (14)
Flashback to 2012. I was married, and my wife was taking me to my very first concert. Infected Mushroom with Purple Lotus. I was extremely excited, and they did not let me down. I can't think of a better time I have had at a concert (minus the two other times I have gone and seen them live when they come through Colorado). On the way out, my wife gave me their newest album - "Army of Mushrooms" - as an early Christmas present, and we listened to it the entire way home. The entire album was incredible, but this song has always stood out as a unique gem among the rest.
Whenever things go south, I listen to this song. It may not be the most "happy" thing I could do, but it reminds me of a wonderful night I had that introduced me to the world of live music. And reminds me that the past has both it's ups and downs - it's all how you respond to what life throws at you that defines who you are who you can become.
"But in the end
I failed in so many plans
Wanted to be sure
I care and I want some more
Little things in life
And some pleasures that I was denied
I feel satisfied
That I left all my past behind"
may be a 10 (15). The Afronova jumps and short 16/24th streams are a bit more than I usually put into a 9 but the mellow middle averaged it out in my opinion.

Change / MONKEY MAJIK ft. Yoshida Brothers
BPM 125
(Not entirely confident on these ratings)
2 3 6 8 10
X-Ratings: 3 6 12 13 15
Back when I just started getting serious about rhythm games, this was one of the first songs I would play all the time that was charted for another game. Brings back some memories of when I wasn't as good. It's also just a good song in general. I tried to recreate the feel of the hardest chart in the other game on the challenge, which is a bit streamy. Everything else should be fine and fun to no-bar.

Wow this banner you click to download sucks what did I make it in, 5 minutes?.

Mostly runs at 104 but there are a few gimmicks. Challenge is consistent but pretty technical, watch for the twisty crossover/footswitch combos.
Story:
Back in my last year of college, one of the alumni that I was good friends with but kinda fell apart with a bit due to life stuff on both of our ends visited one of my classes out of the blue. So like a good student, instead of working on the class project I talked to him the whole time, the topic of conversation that came up was musicial style changes, and in particular we discussed Eminem and Skrillex. Since the recess album came out this song and its album-mates came up, and despite the style change this and a few other standouts did get me back into dubstep again so between that and reminding me of said friend, this song and the album holds a place in my memories.
Again if you'd like me to review a chart, pm me. Have a great day/night/whatever it is for you now.

I stumbled when it came to choosing a song but also have been sick and tired all week and thought I couldn't make it. But luckily...
Before I even began listening to music as a whole, the only albums I ever had as a kid were Backstreet Boys albums. I honestly don't know why other than my family also liking groups like N'Sync and stuff, so maybe that had something to do with it. Anyway, I can safely say songs like this are what make me really dig 90's pop groups as a whole to the point that they are a huge guilty pleasure of mine to continually listen to.
I believe I have done a simfile of this many many years ago (probably right at 8 or 9 years?) but I honestly don't remember any of it. Apparently this cut has been sitting in a folder for years without anything else so I guess past me wanted to redo it completely from the first time I did it. What better time than now?

This song was the main menu music for the Stepmania 3.9 theme CyberiaStyle 6 (Hence the graphics), the first version I started playing Stepmania that introduced me to other open source rhythm games such as Lunatic Rave 2 and osu, and also introduced me to the rest of the BEMANI franchise, as I've only knew about DDR at the time.

I'm done.

NORTH / WALL5 (From beatmania GOTTAMIX 2 ~Going Global~)
1 | 3 | 6 | 10?(or 9)
I...don't remember much but, if I remember correctly this was one of the few songs that got me into beatmania in the first place. That and letting me realize that I really wanted to play it, but never got the chance to play it. I did however played it on M.A.M.E.
but, that's pretty much it.
Also it let me decide to finding remixes from the Bemani series, so there's that.

Rather Be (feat. Jess Glynne) / Clean Bandit
BPM: 115 (beginning only) - 121
1 - 3 - 6 - 8
This was the song that I shared with the first person I've ever fallen in love with. It was a long distance relationship, so the lyrics really spoke to us. I can't help but think of her every time I hear this song.

New thing added to leaderboard. If there's a tie on votes in a week, then it's decided by most +5 votes, if there's still a tie after that, then it's most +4 votes and so on.

Also, the week's results are going to be announced about an hour late on weeks I'm hosting, because my work means I'm travelling at the time 5pm UTC rolls around. I miiight be able to get the new theme displayed in time, but that depends on whether the bus I'm on wants to have wi-fi or not)
