| Comments | Graphics credit: Dominik Mayer (https://www.artstation.com/artwork/mqQ61d) So it's finally VIP3! Summer Contest 2021 has been a very tumultuous (but rewarding) ride as a stepper for me. I've been telling myself for the last few contests I've participated in that "this would be the last one;" that I would take a break from Zenius. Yet I still feel that I was able to do a lot to further explore my skill in DDR-style stepping this contest. Week after week, I agonized over what I could do to introduce something novel to the competition... and for the VIP room, that mentality has brought me to an incredibly ridiculous (and tactically insane) proposition: charting a 19 for all three weeks. I thought of it as a last-resort meme at first, but as I worked on my VIP2-3 submissions in tandem I found that I was able to work a satisfying mix of familiar and new concepts into these charts. Through my 3 years of charting, this week and last week's files may as well be the most polished and coherent play experiences I've ever crafted. Like last week, I included some patterns inspired by my previous contest files: - Saikyo Stronger  (SC2020) / 16th bursts -> crossover jumps / m107, m114-115 in  - Hella Deep (SC2020) / Corner jump + freeze -> U/D -> jump sequences / m86~ in - Atlantis Hawk (BR2021) / Use of turns between 16th bursts to accent kicks every 4 beats / m44~ - Jelly (SC2021) / Mine + corner jump combinations / m94~ in - Alismonitos Lethaeus (SC2021) / Doublestep-switches between freezes / m60~ in With that in mind, please enjoy! I will likely taking some time away from Zenius (for real, this time) to focus on creating tech/FA content for the time being, but I don't doubt that there's still so much left for me to explore in the realm of DDR customs. |
