Comments | With the results of week 1 upon us, the Porygon label is going to scramble the genres up to fit in with the theme. To show that I can chart a variety of genre's outside of trance, I have chosen to chart “Hold On To Love by Bliss Team” which makes the Scramble score limit of 20 with the total score of "Hold On To Love" being 19.
Bliss Team was an Italian dance group that ran from 1992 to 1997, composing of vocalist Jeffery Jay, keyboardist Domenico Capuanndpo and DJ Roberto Molinaro. Together they formed Bliss Team, which they had a lot of hits in Italy, starting off in 1993 with their cover of Patti Smith's People Have The Power (3 weeks in the Italian Hit Parade Top 20, peaking at #7). Hold On To Love is a track from 1995 that was a follow up to there hit “You Make Me Cry” which attempted to break the act into markets outside of Italy after being a big hit there, being released in various countries like Germany, Spain, and Japan. This was their biggest hit in Italy in terms of the Italian Hit Parade, where it stayed for 8 weeks in the Italian top 20, peaking at #8 for 2 weeks. This is a high NRG song of 150bpm which could be interpreted as Eurodance, Italodance, Eurobeat, etc. (though it wasn’t part of any Eurobeat compilation’s it was released around the beginning of the Initial D series not to mention that they did attempt to break into the Japanese market with the previously mentioned "You Make Me Cry").
After this release, they would continue to release tracks in Italy until 1997, when their label (Inprogress, a subdivision of Bliss Corporation) requested the act to split up to other projects. While Roberto became a successful DJ in Italy, Jeffery Jay would form “Eiffel 65” and would become one of the hottest acts approaching the 21st century around the world. Domenico would also help produce Eiffel 65's hit "Move Your Body" as well as their 1st album (Europop) and would collaborate with various artists soon after like S Club 7, Aqua and Toni Braxton. Now the question is, is this Italodance, Eurobeat, Eurodance, or any combination? This is a bit of a gamble, as I'm not that confident for this simfile, but who knows, maybe this will scramble up the scores whether to my benefit or not. |
