CommentsAfter finishing second to last in the very competitive first heat of Best-Mix #6, it was back to the drawing board for the Porygon label. l had looked at some of the criticism's of the entry and to fit in with the first theme of the Summer Contest, I had chosen for the first week to chart “The Summer by ATB”.

The Summer is a trance track from the year 2000 by German DJ ATB (André Tanneberger), who reached #1 in the UK with 9PM (Till I Come) in 1999 and is currently at this time having a resurgence with a remix with Topic and A7S [Your Love (9PM)]. In 2000, ATB just finished off a successful run in the UK from his first album “Movin Melodies” (“9PM, Don’t Stop, and Killer” all reaching the top 5 in the country), and it was time for the next album which would be “Two Worlds”. This was the first single to be released for the album. In terms of chart success, this single charted at various countries including but not limited to,

#61-Australia Top 100
#20-Denmark Top 20
#20-Finland Top 20
#21-Germany Top 100 (9W in the chart)
#72-Netherlands Top 100 (6W) (Tip:9 on Top40.nl)
#47-Sweden Top 60 (7W)
#46-Switzerland Top 100 (12W)

Despite ATB coming off from 3 straight top 5 singles in the UK, the song wasn’t released in the territory and instead skipped over to his next single with fellow German act “York” (“The Field’s Of Love”) in that area. Even with this setback, the song's brightest point came when it topped the charts in Romania (Single’s Airplay Top 100) for 2 weeks, going on to rank #15 in the country's year-end list for 2000. ATB has continued releasing music to this day, but until recently, would never reach the singles successes of his first year as a solo artist outside of his native Germany, where he would remain a name for many more years to come in the 2000's.
