Question: Do covers of classical music count? (Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, etc.)

I completely disagree here. The rolls might seem like a good idea on paper, but because of the way you have to hit rolls to keep them alive it actually makes them way harder to do. Rolls need to be hit once every 0.35 seconds in order to stay alive.
You do bring up a good point. I have my timing difficulty set at 4, but within my Preferences.ini it says TimingWindowSecondsRoll=0.500000, so that explains why I didn't have a problem. Nonetheless, I do see how using freeze arrows sidesteps that issue substantially, since only someone with their timing rather narrow would have a problem.Quote: Gameoson
My judge is also at the default 4 and I was dropping my rolls every time. =/
The Timing Window Difficulty setting only adjusts the TimingWindowScale, so your default timing windows must be different in the Preferences.ini.Post #244 · Posted at 2018-05-28 03:49:47am 5.9 years ago
It's probably got to do with the fact that I use Simply Love, which likes to automatically set the timing windows to ITG standards. I must have been using that theme for so long that I've forgotten that SM5's default roll timing was a lot more lenient.
I would assume so. I mean, it's cover week, I don't see why covers/remixes of classical music would be exempt.
Beethoven is actually my backup plan in case I'm not happy with the file I'm currently working on.

It's usually a bad idea to only include a hard difficulty in your chart, since people who can't pass that difficulty can't really judge your simfile fairly. Also, graphics are always good to have.Doublesteps or no one cares about hard techno songs?

If this is the case this actually gives me a lot more options. I guess I have ideas after all.Post #251 · Posted at 2018-05-28 08:27:28pm 5.9 years ago
When in doubt, Pump It Up is a great source of classical remixes.
That's allowed for this week right Daffa?
It's already been announced.
Unless he means Week 5, in which case that would be me. I'm every odd week, Daffa's every even week.
Just a reminder: Ganymede is DQ'd from Week 3. The rule was "no fictional animals". Genbu is a mythological Chinese god and doesn't count. Please remember this when voting.

Pump is too easy to pick from for me, so...
The Entertainer - Hyuji feat. Dolphin Star Jet & Enter Tapir
5/7 8/12 10/15
Original is The Entertainer by Scott Joplin. Did not want something hard again but it just... happened.
(Also a complete coincidence I could have used this for last week's theme.)
This should work regardless, as it is definitely more of a cover than just a remix (the uncut of this song matches up closely to the original as well), but if I'm wrong let me know.

Pretty hard to pick covered songs to me, but I have two songs that are covered up.
Just need some fixes and add other charts because there's only expert/challange.

Hi, sorry for the incredibly long reply! I'm kinda busy this week and also procrastination makes me feels pretty lazy.
Anyway, I think covers of classical music are fine for me. I don't see any problem with that. Hope this helps~!

Take On Me - Reel Big Fish
2 / 3 / 6 / 8
Found this through a TVTropes list of famous cover versions, and immediately I knew this was the song for me. It's from the movie BASEketball, which I've never seen but supposedly it's by the South Park dudes so that's interesting I guess. But anyway...it's one of my favorite corny 80's songs done by one of my favorite corny ska punk bands, so I had to make the steps convey that same sense of feel-good goofiness that comes from listening to either.
sure would be nice if they could play at a consistent tempo but whatever

Bet'cha didn't know this one was a cover, right? Well, now you agadoo-doo-DO!
☆.。.:*・゚ ヽ(´∀`*)ノ Agadoo / Black Lace♪ヽ(*´∀`)ノ ☆.。.:*・゚
3 | 4 | 6 | 8 | 9
(Suggested X-scale ratings: 4 | 6 | 7 | 11 | 14)
"Agadoo", believe it or not, is actually an English-language cover of a French song from the 1970's called "Agadou dou dou"; however, the cover by Black Lace, when it was first released in the 1980's, greatly surpassed the popularity of the original.
Black Lace learned the song at a club called Gossips, where the original French version had become popular; the duo learnt the dance to it and wrote their own English lyrics for it, covering the song and turning it into the phenomenon it is today. Nowadays, it is a favorite at parties in the UK much like the Cha Cha Slide or the Cupid Shuffle - and I only just discovered it this year.
The song has also been recorded in Dutch, Thai, Greek, Portuguese, Czech, and supposedly Spanish and German too.
(Shoutout to 1033Forest for introducing me to this song!)
Ya know how I was pretty much obsessed with "Tui Zhi Ge" by Lulu last year and made a simfile for it? Well, this year, "Agadoo" is the song I'm obsessed with. I was so enthusiastic to make a simfile of it, and I had so much fun stepping it for this round. Whether you love or hate the song, I hope you enjoy my simfile!
I tried to make the steps somewhat "follow" the lyrics, specifically when "left", "right", and "jump up and down" are said in the song.
Oh, and please play both and !
