I don't think we can completely rule out AfA ESP just yet. Following your logic of an unlock chain, those examples of "cleared" Endymion CSP may not be enough to trigger the next step (End ESP: 950xxx > AfA: 999xxx > End CSP: ?). From the screenshot above, I mainly interpret that scenario as the second player being "carried" into the event that player 1 fulfilled the requirements to. While not a direct apples-to-apples comparison, it's like another player getting to play your unlocked songs/charts even if they have yet to unlock those themselves.
Here's hoping to more progress on Endymion CSP. Hopefully it can debunk your current theory. Not so you're wrong, but so there's more to see at this point in the game.
I sure hope I'm wrong! I was/am looking forward to this being a full-on Phase 2 of the event as much as you are. Here's hoping to more progress on Endymion CSP. Hopefully it can debunk your current theory. Not so you're wrong, but so there's more to see at this point in the game.
I see it like this though:
- In RDi, if two people played Max.(period) on and only the first player AA'd their , both players would continue on to Over The "Period"...on , not . The second player gets the full chance to attempt to pass Over The "Period" on even though they never met the conditions for it.
- We've seen two EES difficulty conditions in the past, both very straightforward: Either "the EES is locked to one difficulty regardless of the ES's difficulty", or "the EES's difficulty is linearly based on the ES's difficulty". In any case, what doesn't happen is the first player's difficulty selection influencing the second player's.

Using this as reference, starting at combo 289 some of the notes should be 12th-based rather than 16th-based, and then it happens on note 334 again. Feels like the pre-X Healing-D-Vision charts a bit.
Ah, the assist tick helps a lot. When I kept hearing people say "the triplets are wrong" I thought they were referring to places like 212 combo - 259 combo, which wasn't making sense to me. Thanks! ==========
In happenings totally unrelated to Rinon's Adventure, I don't think anyone's posted this video yet. Someone PFC's 打打打打打打打打打打 with no footswitches.

There is evidence that the game does pay attention to details like that. Last time I played at the arcade, I chose Sephirot Expert as my extra stage, and the other player also chose Expert. However, he hadn't done the Basic or Difficult charts yet, so was only able to choose Expert because I had it open. At the end of the song, no unlock progress bar appeared on his side, so it's not possible for one to "carry" someone else to unlock the higher difficulties on the NewGen songs before they'd normally be able to.
I reckon Endymion->Ace for Aces functions in a similar manner.

well if you're gonna get a score like 500k, you probably won't have access to AFA
you'd still need to actually AA it, it seems.

Wait, the other player was locked to because you picked ? How does the game know at difficulty selection time which difficulty you will pick? (Or did you mean - you had unlocked allowing the other player to pick them even though they were locked for him, so he theoretically could have picked while you picked , with and the others still being locked for him?)I reckon Endymion->Ace for Aces functions in a similar manner.

The counterexample for this is the Max.(period) into Over The "Period" example above, where a player can access OT"P" without AA'ing Max. as long as the other player AA's Max. - on a difficulty other than . This is what has me so stumped.you'd still need to actually AA it, it seems.

I really don't think that we should follow the rules of RDi. Why should KONAMI allow this kind of trick to bypass such a challenging requirement (this time)?

Even if a Endymion clear reveals AFA, does anyone actually think it'll be PFCed it on the first try? And who would even want to grind through Endymion over and over to try to make progress on the AFA chart?
I don't think we have any choice but to wait it out a few months for Konami to loosen the unlock requirements.

All three difficulties were available for selection for both players. In the situation I described, if the other guy had played alone, he would only have been able to choose Basic for the song.

For the sole reason that they would have to newly program in a check like "if Player 1 has qualified for the EES while Player 2 has not, override the EES you would normally load and give Player 2 Player 1's EES instead", just for this one scenario. Doesn't feel too likely.Quote: amorite

Sadly, you're probably right. I do want to see Endymion cleared at least once (firmly confirming or rejecting Ace For Aces) before the inevitable unlock ~3-4 months from now. Right now our situation is as if RDi Phase 2 got unlocked but no one was able to clear Max.(period), so we're all sitting around wondering if there even exists a new Encore Stage after that, or if Egoism 440 and Max.(period) are what we've got.I don't think we have any choice but to wait it out a few months for Konami to loosen the unlock requirements.
On a slightly different topic, does anyone who can read Korean know what FEFEMZ's been up to lately? From the looks of his social media accounts, he hasn't played any DDR, let alone Endymion, in the past ~three weeks.

There's no DDR in his hometown, so he has to take about 2~3 hours to go arcade to play DDR at weekend. (and he doesn't like to play DDR A, because he feels that sync is poor than 2014)Post #5051 · Publicado en 2017-09-01 03:10:06am Hace 7 años

Ah, that's a bummer. I'm very surprised that he's complaining about sync though - haven't heard that complaint from anyone else, and shouldn't the fixed timing windows between 2014 and A alleviate that?I know iamchris4life has stated that he wants to get the WR on Endymion and Ace For Aces before attempting Endymion, and of course he can do anything he wants with his free time, but I guess I'm just frustrated that we're one good attempt away from unveiling potentially two charts for the DDR community and it hasn't happened yet (while they've theoretically been accessible for over a month and a half). Who else out there can LIFE4 AA+ a 19? Brosoni? Takaske? HO4-KETI?
Heck, anyone else who can get farther than FEFEMZ with Cut2 Jumps Off?

Three things:
1) FEFEMZ posted this to his Twitter a few hours ago:
2) Endymion's simfile doesn't seem to have CUT1 filled in, though the log says it does. Could someone double-check and/or fix this?
3) Finally thought of a counterexample and it's the reason why I'm suddenly excited for Ace For Aces again - I said before that during RDi Phase 2, Max.(period) would always lead to Over The "Period" even if one of the two players didn't AA their Extra Stage, but this wasn't true...when the first difficulty downgrade hadn't happened yet. Then, Max. would've led to OT"P" and the player would be required to AA their Extra Stage. Similarly, before the second difficulty downgrade, Max. would've led to OT"P" only if the player AA'd their Extra Stage. This proves that Konami has written in code before that overrides/restrains the EES difficulty choice, but only if the original difficulty is not intended to be accessed yet. The difference is that in this case, the access requirements are "you have just AA'd Endymion" instead of "we have just made a difficulty downgrade".
==========
Edit: Fourth thing:
So I did some counting.
- We know Endymion has exactly 953 scoring items (steps + OKs)
- FEFEMZ's 751k run shows 757 steps and 27 freezes (784 scoring items)
- echospherics' CUT1 run shows another 99 steps and 0 freezes beyond that (up to 883 scoring items)
- All we're missing now is the non-4th notes in the last 18% of the song
- We can fill in placeholders by copying over the non-4th notes in Endymion
- This gives us 50 more steps and 1 more freeze (up to 934 scoring items)
- Now we've got exactly 19 scoring items left that we have little idea about
- These must be non-4th notes, in the last 18% of the song, that do not follow the same pattern as Endymion
- (This could be as few as 9 freeze arrows and 1 tap arrow, but very unlikely - all of Endymion so far doesn't have a single non-4th freeze arrow at 440 BPM)
- It's plausible to guess the following:
- The second-to-last jump of the song could be a freeze
- The most obvious place to add extra non-4th arrows is during the last section that's filled with 440 BPM 8ths. Make that whole section a continuous death stream and this gets us an extra 9 steps. (Note that this stream is half the length of Egoism 440's.)
- echospherics speculates here that the continuous jumpstep stream at the end might have seven 8th notes sprinkled in, right before each gap in the music (a la the extra 8ths near Egoism 440's stops compared to ).
- We're down to just 2 scoring items completely unaccounted for. These could be just about anything - a blast of 12th notes a la IX's ending, or some 16th notes at 440 BPM a la Egoism 440, or more 8ths than expected in the jumpstream, or just a couple of freeze arrows in somewhat awkward places, or a change in the ending rhythm. Any other thoughts?
- Putting together all of the above, I'm guessing Endymion's max combo at either 924 or 925. No matter what, it's guaranteed to be at least 891 (if somehow everything we haven't seen of Endymion is a freeze arrow). This gives it the absolute highest notecount of any (non-long version) Singles chart ever, outstripping Egoism 440's 811 and Elemental Creation's 860.
- Potential trouble: FEFEMZ completed 774/953rds of the chart (~81%) and only got ~75% of the max score thanks to lots of Greats and Goods. If he were to keep up this ratio for the rest of the song, his ending score would be only 924k - too low to unlock Encore Extra Stage. He would need to make it to the same spot with a score of at least ~771k and keep up that higher ratio for the rest of the song.
1) FEFEMZ posted this to his Twitter a few hours ago:
Quote: FEFEMZ
DDR이 하고싶어요... 아 주7일은 역시 넘 빡센가
Google Translate spits out something along the lines of "I want to play DDR 7 days a week", and this is the first time he's posted about DDR at all in ~three weeks. This makes me hopeful that he might make some more attempts at Endymion this weekend.2) Endymion's simfile doesn't seem to have CUT1 filled in, though the log says it does.
I remember back when ddr songs got cleared fast enough we didn't have to perform analysis like this to know what the charts were like
any more information about charts we haven't seen yet is nice
With that in mind I still really wanna see the rest of ENDYMION, I think FEFEMZ will be the first to clear it.
