| Comments | As someone who writes stepcharts, there's something kind of poetic about the idea of a death run at any difficulty: you put all your stamina and technical knowhow into clearing a song, and at the very end here's one last test when you're out of breath and at your wits' end to see if you can really nail it. As a player of dance games, I don't usually love actually doing it though. Here's a twist: for most charts for this song, the chart builds in difficulty through the bridge, with a brief reprieve followed by a very intense section after the final beat drop.......and then a calming easier section, without crossovers on any difficulty, to take you to the end of the song.
Speaking of the song, I've included music by Doss before in ChickyMix 4. In the years since, she's become a bit more prolific as a producer and DJ, and her DJ sets are always a blast if you get the chance to check one out. Her work was always a bit PC Music adjacent, but her newer songs combine the best parts about hyperpop, eurodance, and other high-energy fun genres of dance music into colorful new shapes. This song is one of my favorite songs from this decade in any genre, I've had it on the backburner of "songs I want to chart" for years, and I'm glad nearly five years (!) after its release it's finally here. I'm not looking at my phone. Are you?
