well, it's the end of yet another contest. im honestly really happy with how this one went for me. despite missing one week (my first time ever), i still managed to easy stay in the top 15 and make it to vip. not only that, i also managed to almost get above an 8.00 for all of my files this contest which felt great compared to last year. i think overall the quality of simfiles in general has skyrocketed since the first summer contest i participated in (sc2021). it's really cool seeing all of the new simfiles from existing people, and also seeing how quickly these new steppers have improved within just one contest. it's also been really satisfying looking back at my files from just one year ago and seeing how much i've refined and possibly even perfected my charting style. things like candle usage, directional based pitch relevancy, and freeze doublesteps weren't really majorly on my mind back then, but they're essential parts of my style nowadays. the song i decided to chart this week is Deep Deep Inside by ino. those who participated in br2023 might also remember the song i stepped called Beep Beep Inside; this is the prequel to this. i do vastly prefer that song for being more of a banger, but this one has a really deep (lol) and powerful melody that gives it a really climactic feeling compared to the STRAIGHT BANGER that Beep Beep Inside is (this one is also a banger but there's no sidechaining so 🚗🚗 feels a lot more dance music-y). i think this file showcases pretty much all of what i do in charting: pitch relevancy, audio panning relevancy, crossover jumps, freeze doublesteps, and a satisfying crossover at the end to accent the ending DEEP. it's been a blast doing these contests even though it's a little overwhelming going through 40+ files every week, but it's worth it to be able to experience everyone else's files. looking forward to the future contests and the simfiles that will come with them
