Z-I-v Battle Royale 2018

Z-I-v's hottest new contest is back again for 2018! The contest is simple. Each week people will upload one simfile for the week. Members will then vote on these files. There's a threshold that has to be passed in order to advance to the next round. So only the top 50% or X amount of members will advance each round. This will go on for 4 rounds until the final two members are decided and they will get to host the 2018 Summer Contest!

CONTEST RULES:
1. You are required to vote if you enter a file. You can still vote if you are eliminated.
2. You can't vote for your own song (of course)
3. One file per round, so make it count!
4. Files must be uploaded by the deadline, NO EXCEPTIONS
5. Name files accordingly: [Round 1] - SONG NAME. (Including the hyphen). This is so files are organized and easy to find.
5b. If two people upload the same song in the same week, put your user name next to the file when you upload it. [Round 1] - SONG NAME (USER NAME). It's rare, but it has happened before.
6. If there's still a tie between files that goes pass the round threshold, members who tie will still go on to the next round.
6b. In the event of the threshold being 0 votes, Users who don't upload a file and/or have 0 votes will be eliminated and players who did upload a file will advance to the next round.

SIMFILE RULES:
1. You must have at least 1 chart. (doubles and other chart times are also allowed but not required).
2. Songs to be rated in the Classic DDR/ITG scale. 1-10/13ish. This way we don't get a mix bag of songs in classic and X ratings and have a mess between the same level.
3. Songs must be less than 2:30 in length.
4. Pad charts for this contest only, no keyboard charts.
5. Automatically generated steps are not allowed.
6. New simfiles only. You can't re-release a song you've already done.
7. Graphics are not needed for a song but are HIGHLY recommended. If you do not have graphics, someone else can make some on request or a placeholder will be provided for you.

VOTING:
Voting will be sent ala PM to me. Make sure to put Battle Royale as your subject.

You will be given 15 points per week to spread up to 5 10 songs. You can only give a up to 5 points per song.

Deadlines will be SUNDAY at 5PM UTC. NOT MONDAY THIS TIME.

DATES TO KNOW:
Feb 25th-March 4th: Round 1 submissions
March 4th-March 11th Round 1 voting
March 11th-March 18th: Round 2 submissions
March 18th-March 25: Round 2 Voting
March 25th-April 1st: Round 3 submissions
April 1st-April 8th: Round 3 voting
April 8th-April 15th: Round 4 submissions (if needed)
April 15th-April 22nd: Round 4 Voting (if needed

I'm assuming if you sent it in as a skeleton but didn't actually step it yourself at any point outside of the contest, you'd be allowed to step it for this contest.

1) Are we required to give 15 points each round, no more, no less? If not, what's the range?
2) Is the maximum number of points we can give to one file still 5?

I thought we agreed to get rid of this rule. :s I'm pretty sure I can survive with it but I would prefer a looser limit, maybe 10 like Simfile Tycoon's was.

You really shouldn't persist with the self-deprecation gimmick like that...

It has happened where simfile artists that aren't good have suddenly managed to start making great files. Many times. If you try to push the boundaries of what you can do with your simfile capabilities, you actually might not end in failure. As for "disappointment", I've played files that were much worse than any work I've seen from you so really, who are you worried about disappointing? :P

Every year I get into this funk where I'm like "man I just can't step stuff like I used to" and then Battle Royale rolls around and I'm all "oh I should do something for that".
So in keeping up with my current quota of 1 simfile release per year (and hopefully surpassing it) I will be entering this little contest thing.

Also on the note of the points thing: I understand it's to keep people from just dumping 15 points onto 1 song or 1 point on 15 songs, but I'd prefer if we had some more control over how many songs we could spread our points across, as a few others mentioned already.
