Am I the only one confused here? They release 中文曲特別版 and THEN they delay it? I'm absolutely confounded by this.

Haha, holy fuck, look at all those names.
I think it has to do with the default birth date being Dec 31, 1969.

Yep, for those that didn't know. Unix time of 0 means 1970/01/01 00:00, and cos the server runs in Pacific Time, it actually meant 1969/12/31 16:00.
When people don't set their date of births, it defaults to 0, you can see what happened lol.

Reminds me of when they released all the trailers about the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie being released in November 2008, and at the last minute they changed it to July 2009. Post #9 · Posted at 2008-12-30 08:56:26am 15.7 years ago

Five Game Franchises To Put To Rest
By Ben Silverman
We're not entirely convinced you can get too much of a good thing -- a lifetime supply of Ben & Jerry's sounds pretty infallible -- but you can definitely get too much of a bad thing.
Take, for instance, the following video game franchises. At one point or another, these were industry-leading properties with bright futures and enormous potential. Then, it all went wrong.
DanceDanceRevolution:
Okay, we'll admit that DDR did a lot for getting kids into shape, and we tip our cap to Konami for getting it into schools. But for a game that's merely a decade old, why are there six hundred versions?. Ultramix, Universe, Unleashed, Supernova, Extreme...can anyone follow this? We cannot, which means it's time to rein it in for a few years and let everyone catch up. Maybe by then we'll have learned some new moves, too. Is the Electric Slide still cool?

I had no idea what World Tour was for quite some time.
I admit, it'd probably be better if KONAMI numbered them like beatmaniaIIDX; i.e. DanceDanceRevolution10 X (even though it's not actually 10th...).

Yes Al, I agree . But I'm looking at that Wikipedia list, and it says in the U.S. specifically, two SuperNOVA AC releases. One on May 15, 2006 and one on June 15, 2006. Why another one just one month after the first?
This isn't the most reliable piece of info, but according to Wikipedia, there are 3 specific U.S. releases, and two of them are the SuperNOVA AC releases. The other is the Xbox DDR Ultramix.
And yes, 9 extremely-hard-to-follow versions of Guitar Hero out... I wonder if people actually have trouble with those.

Maybe, but why have another version just a month later? They could've waited that long (for the new Flow version), and made sure the bugs were all sorted out before they released it.
Woah. Look what I found on Yahoo! News (redirected me to SlashDot):
"Activision is preparing a deal with Konami and Raw Thrills to bring Guitar Hero to arcades worldwide as soon as 2009. It looks to be a great fusion of their current Guitar Hero III axe and World Tour. 'Some features have been streamlined, however, like character customization. Raw Thrills doesn't want people obsessing over the hair color of their on-screen rock star. But one important feature that has remained is downloadable content. Raw Thrills has the ability to push new songs to "Guitar Hero Arcade" through the Internet. Owners of the machines can pick and choose which of the new songs to add to the cabinet.'"

DDRMAN: check the forums on the Guitar Hero side and you should see that there is already a forum with pictures and stuff about this...
*sigh* so as DDR is starting to fall, GH is bringing up the arcade scene? BLAH! GH in the arcades won't do much except get a bunch of drunk frat boys to play a game and get laughed at for their shinanigans (wow old word >_>)...but it's something. Besides, so far DDR X is starting to get to me now (the PARANOiA and Trip machine X-specials? oh yea, most def.) So let's hope for the best =)

well someone ACTUALLY has proof that one machine (most likely beta version) is out, and he has pictures of it (i think)...
...and as far as he told me, he says that the machine wasn't getting the popularity it should have had (like people lining up to play and stuff) for BOTH machines (i can understand the Karaoke machine, who wants to play that? but the GH AC? Hmmmm we may have a problem). But he says that it was in an area where not much people play within the arcade area.
Hey if you want to talk more about this, move on over to the GH AC thread, don't want to stay off-topic here

What big release could there be now? The timer for a big new release has started, and it says it's for DJ TROOPERS.
