Those mini-jacks beginning at b308 of was a bit difficult to nail the timing down. I imagine this would be easier on keyboard, but on pad (especially at 250 BPM), it's difficult to hit it. Hello, Morning: My reasoning for the 8 is that it sounded very similar to Streamers/Marble Soda, two songs I really like. Or maybe it was just because of the difficulty I had listening to it with not good earphones and lots of ambient noise. Regardless, I'm pretty happy with it and am glad it's getting more well received than Streamers, I just wish I could stop blanking out on original graphics...

I didn't really realize the wacky time signatures this has on a first listen.
Nothing I would really change with it. I'm kind of jealous of how smooth you seem to design charts because I always over-complicate things. 8/10.
I don't like quick pivots from one arrow to the opposide arrow (b164.5-165). My limit would probably be about 120ish BPM in 8ths. But that's more of a personal gripe. 7.5/10.

I have to admit I was kind of surprised that ledgam3r1279 didn't send this. :P
Well... yeah, I thought it was good, but... I also thought it was a bit unremarkable. This isn't to say it should be harder, maybe it's because I've already played quite a lot of simfiles (and a possibly double-digit percentage chunk of that is other K-Pop simfiles) but I feel a little more spice would've made it stand out to me more. 7/10.
Can't Take My Eyes Off You
Good god, I actually recognize this song. My family plays it and some other Frankie Valli songs on the radio kind of frequently (specifically, 2013). Immediately knew this was Nezemarth's.
Not horrible. I actually enjoyed some bits. There were some doublesteps which I would've fixed but they were always a fourth note apart so it's not too big a deal. Accidental bracket stomp at b148. Remove the freeze pivot from up to down at b220-220.5, it's not necessary. It was also a bit drifty but I feel that perfectly syncing this would be five pains in the asses so I can't say I blame you or the song submitter. 7/10.

I also know this song but not this particular hip-hop cover. But I guess it comes with the perk of not being live BPM (unlike CTMEOY).
Pretty good for quite a slow-moving song, as I'd expect from your stepping style. 7.5/10.

I used to love another song by Neo Cortex but I don't think it'd be fit for StepMania. Or at least, not what I'd like, anyways. The same applies here. (Not that it's a bad song by itself, of course.)
I really appreciate the simplistic approach you took here. It helped it not be so repetitive like I was worried for, it made it feel kind of at home with the trance DDR tracks suchs as SO DEEP or DRIFTING AWAY. Except for the insane 16ths on those two, of course. Anyways 8/10.

Oddly enough it sounded better when I listened to it through earphones.
Very intriguing down mines section. Really smooth going for the most part, however the rhythms at b152 felt kind of disorienting. It just didn't seem to exactly match. 7.5/10.
I'm guessing you've become really fond of footswitches lately, if ESM and illuminate or anything to go by. I am really surprised you passed this down as a 9. I seriously have my doubts, but... eh. Not a big deal. Definitely unique. 8/10.

Was surprised this one wasn't Daffa212162's. It really sounded similar to some of his SC18 songs.
Smooth rolling. Jumps, jacks, and mines were well utilized here. 8/10.

What a strange and unusual song.
Wasn't feeling it too much... just as I feared. What I said about Elements with StepMania also applies here (the song doesn't feel meant for it), but this one just didn't captivate me the same way that song did. 6/10.
I would not spin at speeds these fast (b344) and also there were doublesteps/ambiguous jumps that seemed a little too fast to recover from. I do like how the three note patterns change with the music chords during b204-210 (and similar parts) though. 5.5/10.
Robot Rock [FoRCeDNaTuRe]
Honestly a cool song but it seems a little repetitive for me to step. Also I haven't seen any steps from you to this point.
That stop screwed me over, LMAO. If I stepped this chart I would've made sounds such as b33 rolls but no biggie. You made it work in my opinion. 7/10.
Dig this quite a bit. Love the pitch-relevant jumps at the beginning. What I wish is you kept up the ABCDA staircases for all of the 5 note riffs. For instance, the fifth arrow at b41-42 feels a little off to me and I would prefer DULRD or LUDRL. It feels more natural with the music I guess? I dunno. It's a small nitpick. Lots of freestyly parts. 8/10.

Not a huge fan of this type of music.
Hm... maybe judging off of a 6 isn't such a good idea for a boss song. There is a doublestep that I think you forgot to iron out at b220 but otherwise it's alright. Maybe more jumps would've helped it stand out. 6/10.
Are you sure 250 BPM 16th bursts can be considered a 9? I mean, without them I guess it can be called a 9, but still... Anyway, this fit the song better. 7/10.
SNOBBISM [vincentw]
Suspected Gameoson's involvement because of the swing. I suspect he's also involved with BLAST for some reason...
As usual, vincentw's magic touch makes for a more unique experience. The 24th gallops were pretty neat. 8/10.
I heard of being a mess to play from two people but fortunately for you I'm only playing charts in the 6-9 range. Maybe once voting is over I'll check out all the charts that go over that.

I didn't expect a light chart to show up, but I certainly understand the 6 rating. Maybe light-heavy should be bumped up to standard-challenge (and a new beginner/light chart). 8/10.
I use headphones and I couldn't tell what the final notes (b382 and onwards) were going to unless I turned my volume up a lot. Also I think for patterns such as -b-, the fourth and fifth arrows shouldn't be the same as the first arrow. Pitch relevancy. Otherwise, this deserves a little more credit than it's been given so far. 7.5/10.

Hello, Morning: My reasoning for the 8 is that it sounded very similar to Streamers/Marble Soda, two songs I really like. Or maybe it was just because of the difficulty I had listening to it with not good earphones and lots of ambient noise. Regardless, I'm pretty happy with it and am glad it's getting more well received than Streamers, I just wish I could stop blanking out on original graphics...

Good god, I actually recognize this song. My family plays it and some other Frankie Valli songs on the radio kind of frequently (specifically, 2013). Immediately knew this was Nezemarth's.
Not horrible. I actually enjoyed some bits. There were some doublesteps which I would've fixed but they were always a fourth note apart so it's not too big a deal. Accidental bracket stomp at b148. Remove the freeze pivot from up to down at b220-220.5, it's not necessary. Wasn't feeling it too much... just as I feared. What I said about Elements with StepMania also applies here (the song doesn't feel meant for it), but this one just didn't captivate me the same way that song did. 6/10. I didn't expect a light chart to show up, but I certainly understand the 6 rating. Maybe light-heavy should be bumped up to standard-challenge (and a new beginner/light chart). 8/10. If you don't at least try, you'll never improve. (This also applies to other people that seem to feel the same way as Saulius)
Trust me: Me, Nezemarth, TikalFan9000, Braeden47, paperpeach, and K-Step, and a whole bunch of other people were pretty bad on our first steps.
I seriously doubt other really great steppers such as Gameoson, Daffa212162, and a bunch of others not currently participating (some popular picks are Silverhawke, GariK+, and DMAxel) were also good from get-go: I guess their beginning files don't exist on ZIv.
Braeden47 in particular has always been behind the competition, but compare his
8 (What I Really Want) to... Let's just say this 7, I guess. In my opinion the steps in WIRW do not suffer biased facing left (LUDR/RLUD) action compared to ISBSL and also the rhythms are better. These two files are admittedly a whopping 3 years apart, but that still counts for something. Progress is possible.Other people that didn't do great in Simfile Shuffle 2015 (mostly) were me, Nezemarth, and also SupremeX, "The Legendary DJXYZ" (for the first half, at least), "usaminseijin". While usaminseijin seems to have disappeared and SupremeX still tends to be behind the competition, Nezemarth has improved a lot (especially his SS16 files), DJXYZ has also improved in the same competition and in ones before that (but DJXYZ has went inactive :( ) and some of my files have become pretty surprising hits. Of course, this is only one group of newbies out of many.
However, none of these files would exist if I (or anyone else) got discouraged from low placings and just flat-out gave up because of them. Because of this, I hold the stance that any stepper, no matter how bad, can improve and hate when people tend to have outlooks that suggest otherwise.
I think if you're uncertain, just step what you and you alone like and see how it holds up to the competition. Tending to "play it safe" or cater to other people's tastes can sometimes backfire and also even if it performs well, sometimes it can result in you still not being satisfied with your file. The best thing to do is just go for it, pick up advice if you can, and see what holds up.

What's really important is having fun with it. It's not like there's any cash or other rewards for winning simfile contests here You'd have to turn to Technical Showcase if you're looking for otherwise so having "bad" simfiles isn't really a big deal in the first place.

My very first file was an edit of DO ME (H.I.G.E.O. MIX) with 8th jumps spammed all over the place. I made it so I could practice jumpspam but it ended up being so unfun to play that I quit out and deleted the chart immediately.
Since then I focused a lot on trying to make my stepcharts actually enjoyable to play, which for me meant studying a variety of different stepcharts and deciding what I liked playing and what I didn't like playing, then emulating the stuff I did like in my own charts. And that's what I recommend any inexperienced simfile artist to do; figure out what your favorite charts are, why you like then, and implement features of those charts in your own work. Eventually you'll get the hang of things and simfiling will practically be second nature.

There's not really a need to formally withdraw from these contests. You're under no obligation to participate, even if you do sign up. You participate if you can find the time to do so.
You may have been assigned a skeleton this week, but that was only because you submitted one; you submit one, you receive one. But, you don't have to step it if you are unable to due to other priorities. There's really no backlash to you or anyone else whether or not you choose to participate.
If you're really that worried about no one has noticed, then perhaps darkanine can officially do something about it, but it really wouldn't change much in any case.
