I don't get the shock arrow hate. You guys make it seem like they should be avoided like the plague because they can't be tastefully used in charts.

They CAN be used well.

In the vast majority of cases, they aren't.

I was fine with this until the 12th stream. Really hoping they don't do something like that, it's kinda stupid and should be reserved for PARANOiA. But yeah, guess it's either that or shock arrows. Not that I don't like shock arrows- I'd honestly prefer that to a song with overly draining stepping gimmicks.

Nah see, they should just make the challenge chart like this one, minus the mines and rolls.



Basically, make them footswitches instead :V

I don't know about you, but I played a good portion of shock arrow charts, and they are well done for the most part.

Seriously, Theory of Eternity Challenge on doubles is actually very well crafted, and Smooch Challenge on singles is all about replicating the video. Those are from X2, and they've only gotten better from there. Learn to use the middle of the pad as an extra step and you'll see they actually flow so much better than they look.

Im all for removing SA charts, but have a modifier to add/remove them, much like mines in ITG.

I'll actually fully admit doubles in general is much better about Shock Arrow use than Singles is, for no apparent reason (See: New Century CDP vs. CSP). I don't play doubles very much, so I don't really have much to say.

Theory of Eternity isn't bad, but...they could've done a lot more with that song.

I guess Shock Arrows annoy me more because they tend to be either A: obnoxious (e.g., PTF) or B: take up the slot on a song that could've had a much better challenging chart (e.g., Theory of Eternity, which could've probably been a decent 14 or so, but was a 10 instead) or C: completely forgettable/non-memorable (e.g., don't ask, I've forgotten).

Though admittedly, I'll say sometimes they absolutely nail their use, take Blew My Mind , as much as I don't like that chart, it's Shock Arrow on the pause was absolutely perfect.

The ones that come to my mind are Ice Ice Baby and Butterfly 2008 .

Twinkle Heart and Right on Time are excellent Shock Arrow charts IMO.

Those two (along a few others) were just the Basic charts with shock arrows. Kind of half-assed charts there.

Smooch and SigSig both used Shock Arrows pretty well.

I thought One Sided Love was awful when I first played it but once I adjusted my brain to treating all the shock arrows as hitting the center panel it actually became a really fun chart to play. Kind of like when I first learned how to do the Afronova walk properly.
