Yeah, I totally ditched my old simfile choice for this beautiful gem when I heard it a day ago
Also Live BPM may or may not be synced adequately

ECHO (Yunosuke Remix) / Fokushi
- 4 | - 7 | - 9
Spent forever deciding on a song for [Covered Up]. While most of the songs I step are utaite covers anyway, I wanted to challenge myself to step a song which used a rearrangement and not just a vocal replacement. I remembered I had ideas for this chart so I kinda just ran with it. Also I wanted to incorporate some steps from my original ECHO file from SC2015 but oh my god that was a bad chart why did some of yall give that points... Anyway, while I do think this file has some highlights, there are some sections (especially in that I was unsure of (particularly the fact that I challenged myself to not rely so heavily on crossovers to make the chart interesting), so if anyone could offer feedback on what worked and what didn't I'd really appreciate it! I'm trying to find my groove back in the whole stepping thing considering I haven't done much of it in almost a year.

Does an accordion count as a wind instrument?
ポスト #287 · 2018-06-03 06:15:00pmにポスト 6年前
Yep, accordions are considered wind instruments.
Here's a Wikipedia article that lists every single wind instrument. If it's listed under "Wind instruments (aerophones)", it counts! (Again, I want to stress that we're not counting the human voice in this theme, so ignore stuff like "beatboxing".)
WEEK 3 RESULTS ARE HERE!!!
Taking 1st Place with 38 Points is... Timberwolves, by Gameoson! ...crap, hold on. I'm in the VIP Room already. Let's see who got 2nd.
Taking 2nd Place with 32 Points is... Kamiyo, nyanko wo ataetamae!, by ohhaiimian! ...OH COME ON, HE'S IN THE VIP ROOM ALREADY TOO. See, this is exactly why we made it so that if first and second place already have VIP spots, we give the VIP spot to 3rd Place.
Taking 3rd Place with 29 Points AND winning the tiebreaker with a single +4 vote is... INVISIBLE STRIX, by ledgam3r1279! Apologies to Crow, which also got 29 points and got just as many +5's as INVISIBLE STRIX, but didn't get any +4 votes.
Check out the full results here!

here's a list of flaws in Pigs
not being rude or something similiar
* awful sync
* too much doublesteps
* song doesn't feel steppable at all
* graphics are lazy and stretched
so yeah, basically

While I agree with most of those things being worth criticism, "audio is an mp3 file instead of an ogg file" is definitely not really a helpful piece of criticism. Audio file format shouldn't matter as long as the sound quality is at least decent and not muddy. Granted, I didn't play that week's files so I don't know how his audio quality sounds but nonetheless, the format itself shouldn't matter.

I don't think your chart is necessarily bad, I think you really need to reconsider your music choices. From what I've seen, you're exclusively choosing songs that are very old that have a live BPM. Those kinds of songs are notoriously difficult to sync and though I can see that you made some attempts with that, the reality is that the sync is all over the place and it essentially makes the file unplayable. I would strongly suggest moving away from songs with live BPMs so that your files can have a consistent sync.

Week 3 leaderboard! (click for 1080p)
- Congrats to all winners, and DDRDAIKENKAI for being this week's VIP!
- More than 15 step-artists getting points means that the race to the top is now on!
- It's now impossible for Gameoson to dip below 15th place, since there are not enough points remaining for places 2-16 to overtake him. Might not matter now since he's already a VIP, but more people will be declared safe before Week 10 as the weeks go by, so look out for that!

Some people can't even get one point away from the VIP room. If you're consistently falling just barely under the VIP room, it just means you're getting closer, it means that if your next simfile is an edge better than your previous two, you actually might get leaderboard points. It's only happened two times, by the way.

Sorry I did not vote. I was kind of in a low place for most of the week and didn't get around to voting or doing a simfile. I do thank everyone who voted for my file.
I'll be back this week.

@NuVirus If you seem to be bothered by repeatedly falling one place below points, consider reviewing your own simfiles, and doing your best to locate why they're not getting edged into the points range. Even if you feel that people have radically different tastes than yours, try to locate anything that you personally don't like about your own steps and how you could fix that in your next file.
It also has to do with participation. The two first places I got were in rounds where there was less than 12 people (11, then 9). In bigger contests, I usually tend to fall into the middle of things, sometimes a bit higher, sometimes somehow even lower.
Participation usually starts to wean out in the final weeks (compare the first weeks of SC2015 and 2016 to their later weeks), that might give you a chance to get into the VIP room.

I don't personally think graphics are that important. The thing that's going to keep me coming back to a simfile is fun steps, not how pretty the song looks on my song wheel. But yeah, you're right on everything else.
Also, don't be afraid to take extra time to work on your simfile. You get 7 days per round to work on your entry; use them. Rushing through a file is a great way to make tons of sloppy mistakes.

Thanks for the votes everyone! I wanted to step Kamiyo, nyanko wo ataetamae for the longest time and I'm really happy with how it came out.
I couldn't get my song for [Covered Up] finished in time but I'm already working on my chart for [Wind Jammers] and I'm having a lot of fun with it. Hope you will like it as well!!!
Ok bye.
