Hype train derailed, it seems. It just doesn't feel like GH anymore.

Wow, that is indeed so different from the rest of the Guitar Hero games and possibly much harder.

Wow, somehow they managed to take a wonderfully stylized franchise and turn it into a completely bland product. The "live" sequences remind me of the old "Full Motion Video" craze on early CD-based consoles.

Also, as a person who has never played Guitar Hero and only played GuitarFreaks for about 5 minutes, the gameplay looks suspiciously similar to GuitarFreaks. (Well... even more similar than before. Tongue)

Uh, how the hell will this game work on the 360? If it has 2 FMV (good & bad) for each song, plus the MV for GHTV, that certainly ain't gonna fit on a 360 disc. Hell, depending on the size of the setlist I'm doubtful even the SP vids would fit...

I don't know that but one thing I will say is there's absolutely zero reason to remove two buttons from the game other than to make it easier. It looks like a clone of Guitar Hero, made by the people who made Guitar Hero.

APPEND: I didn't notice there were two rows of three buttons. Silly me. Isn't that gonna make reading a bitch?

Technically speaking, they added one more button though.

The biggest change for gameplay is the switch to a first-person perspective, which places you on stage looking out at the crowd who'll react in real time to how well you play.
The Sega CD never died

I hope that isn't what the finished product is going to look like, because it looks boring as fuck.
But hey, First Person, that's a neat innovative thing that's never been done before. Can't wait to quick scope the crowd.

Looks bland and unfun. Also not thrilled about the $100 I'll have to pay if I want it. Back to RB I guess

Pop'n has 9 buttons in two rows tho
But being a western rhythm game, i'm 100% sure the final product will still have only 3 lines to display them

Controller looks like it'd be a lot easier considering no arm movements are needed anymore.

The artists listed don't necessarily give me much hope, either.

I will give Guitar Hero credit for trying something new, out of the box, and something that will make them stand out from Rock Band. But it might be too new to the point that dedicated GH fans are going to be turned off by this. Having to pay $100 for the game and a new controller is going to be a hard sale for many and they will likely just their rock fix with Rock Band 4. It's much more established, cheaper, and more accessible for the majority of fans.

This is secretly DJ Hero 3's songlist but with added modern/alternative rock bands.

Turns out that Gene Simmons was kinda on to something when he said that rock was dead.

I had high hopes, and as much as I'm kinda interested in the new 6-button design, it'll be Rock Band 4 for me.

"Thank you for releasing me!"
I was really hyped for this until I saw all the negativity in this thread...

...but in all seriousness, though, I think I needed to step back and actually look at this. I was mostly just hyped that I saw it was actually coming to Wii U. The new guitar layout... As someone who's pretty good at real guitar (thanks to Rocksmith), I think it may backfire on them. For one, there's only one way they can make a power chord (unless there's open strings), and for another thing, parts that would go back and forth between two notes on opposite strings (i.e. the solo in Unnatural Selection - thanks to Rocksmith again) wouldn't really work if there's still only one strumbar. Although Drop D power chords could work really well, especially if there's open strings. And I'm confused about Guitar Hero TV; I need to see way more info on that to know what it's all about.

So... if I get convinced again, I might get it. Honestly Rock Band 4 has a lot of convincing to do as well, considering I have absolutely zero reason to get a PS4/Xbox One otherwise. If not, I'll just stick to Rocksmith.
