The gameplay kind of reminds me of Parappa meets Simon but I'm guessing it's intentional in some way.

I hope there might be a way to connect the game to a dance pad and play it like that. Seems like it would be doable...

Concept is so damn stupid (and almost painfully unoriginal), but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't intrigued.

EDIT: Once I saw the video, they are NOT related.

I'm honestly a bit confused how Kyle Ward went from such an integral in-house musician for such a well-acclaimed game (In The Groove) to literally stooping to the direction of shamelessly ripping off of character/game design. Yes, he HAS worked on a blatant DDR rip-off, I get that! But I feel like ITG's mission, so to speak, was aiming towards actually giving DDR fans what they wanted (that Konami was as xenophobic about as they were). That to me is way different than a music game equivalent of Simon Says and a character representation that is not a recolor of Beck from Mighty No. 9.
You can take with this as you will, but I know this looks more to me like Kyle Ward taking notes from Steam's abundant Shovelware than anywhere near a music game masterpiece.
Well, it's Free. I suppose...you can get away with that...but golden Beck? That's the first thing you're going to give me now, Kyle?

Downloaded this for my phone. I have not been able to actually play it because once you pick your song and difficulty, the game forces you to sit through an ad that almost always kicks you back to the title screen, or just crashes entirely.
Well, uh...I'm glad it's free at least? Hopefully they can fix that soon enough.

I agree with foxytail totally. This must be like a ad revenue venture of some kind.! (thinks about all of the adware on the app store)
Just go buy 'Simon Says' (I wouldn't get past round 7 or 8) and play music in the background.
(Although I admit this game could be conducive to people with LITTLE timing or beginner players.)
Latest rhythm/timing game to catch my attention is Combo Queen. And Tower Slash. Check em.
Combo Queen in particular hasn't gotten much exposure, and has suffered from people complaining about the timing being too strict---

it reminds me of the game Audition in a way, you basically have an advantage if you memorize the patterns (like real Simon games). doesn't look that interesting to me and from what i've seen here i wouldn't download it because of crashing issues.

Looks like ass and the novelty-factor of ITG originals appearing is no longer there after every other Kyle Ward game recycling the same stuff.
It's a shame, I've met and spoken to Kyle in person and he's a lovely lovely guy but man can he waste time with generic stuff like this. I guess if he profits it's not so bad though.

I tried it... It isn't fun to me.
You hit the notes on time but it says you missed.

Have you tried messing with the synchronisation settings?
Also, I don't know if you guys care or not, but Dittobeat was released for iOS today.

I keep getting the same problem on the first note of each section. Whenever I tap the first note too early, the game won't register the tap at all since it doesn't seem to allow input right up until the first beat of the measure.
And to add my two cents to the game since I've tried it for a while: yeah, it's absolutely terrible.
-Gameplay is completely unoriginal (reminds me too much of PaRappa the Rapper) and the scoring system and timing windows (by the frame/millisecond?) don't give me any sense of accomplishment or improvement whatsoever.
-The achievements range from laughably easy to impossibly hard.
-That fact that you can only earn one achievement at a time per song even when you satisfy the conditions of multiple achievements at the same time is stupid.
-The amount of grinding need to unlock songs without paying is painful.
-The music is forgettable (sorry).
-Ads are as intrusive as ever like most free-to-play apps.

The game works flawlessly on Android, and the gameplay is really fun. It is so simple to play, but it still provides a challenge.

You can turn off wifi before you boot the game up.
