Announced just this morning, Rock Band 4 is coming to PS4 and Xbox One this fall.
Some bit of news:
- Old DLC can be transferred into the new game.
- Old instruments can be used.
- There is no sign of a keyboard peripheral/charts for this game.
IT BEGINS

Whoa, nice. I wonder if song packs from games will also be possible to download / upgrade. Post #3 · Posted at 2015-03-05 02:46:36pm 9.5 years ago

Wait, how are old instruments to be used if old consoles aren't supported?

Backwards song compatibility has been a wreck on Dance Central Spotlight and their songlists aren't as vast as Rock Band's. I fear this one will follow the same route. Heck, Dance Central Spotlight has been a mess period. So many users complaining of problems to Harmonix, I can't play it without waiting 3-5 minutes to load up the song select screen. Broken game.

Big FAQ about this game.
* No Wii U or PC version, because the Xbox and Playstation have larger Rock Band audiences.
* Good news: PS3->PS4 and Xbox 360->Xbox One transfers can happen "as we make that content available".
* Bad news: PS3->Xbox One and Xbox 360->PS4 transfers is not within Harmonix's control. (One of the staffers tweeted that it's a "monster".)
* They are currently discussing with MadCatz, Sony, and Microsoft about controller compatibility, so it's not a sure thing just yet.
* Rock Band 4 will have "evolutionary features".
* They're going to focus on the core band experience, so don't expect accordions or tubas. Also, no pro guitar and keys.
Disappointed about the lack of keys. I also expected that I'll have to buy an Xbox One if I want to transfer my huge stash of DLC sitting on my 360's hard drive. I guess I'll just wait it out and see how it goes.

Wonder how big this will be. Most people I've talked to don't really know about this. If only rhythm gaming could be mainstream again.

Lack of keys is disappointment.
Collaborating with Mad Catz once again is a bigger disappointment.

Really hoping this turns out well. Rock Band 2/3 was my first major foray into rhythm gaming, hahaha

Glad to see you can transfer DLC and older instruments would work for the game. It would have been a hard sell to have all the DLC people bought just to tell them that they can't use them. Same with instruments. If they are collaborating with Mad Catz for the new controllers, you better just buy the old instruments now while you still can. Mad Catz makes some ok at best arcade sticks but everything else they have made has been garbage.

Due to the hardware limitations of the Wii U, I wasn't expecting them to make a port for that system. It's highly likely that Rock Band 4 is going to be a very 'online centric' game, where they can easily make updates and patches for the respective system and have it done in a flash, Nintendo still has no idea how to handle their online department which would make it hard for the developers to really give a good experience to Wii U owners as opposed to PS4 and Xbone. That's my take on why they made it for those systems and not on Wii U anyway, could be more or other totally different reasons as to why.

All I can Say is WAY TO GO in caps for Harmonix Rock Band 4 Transfer Content I can't wait to see what the New Instruments will look like for the PS4 and Xbox One version. Then we wait for E3 on Guitar Hero's Announcement.
I sure Wish Konami can REVIVE Dance Dance Revolution for the Next Gen Consoles rather than making Dance Central for Kinect that was fun but it got very boring. Dance Dance Revolution was a little bit more fun and more challenging trying to follow the steps as they were coming up and it felt like you were playing Rock Band and or Guitar Hero by feet. I have played Dance Dance Revolution in the Arcades way back at the Beginning of my High school years and I loved it I spend a lot of money playing it both ways at the ARCADE and at HOME.
If Konami response to this after Guitar Hero get's announced I don't know what to day but Thank you bring back the Best fitness game ever back to consoles we are waiting.

This is great news, I still play RB3 at least once every other week. My only concern is the drums, I hope they have Pro Drums and offer the extra cymbals and double pedal again like this:
Mine's just like that only ride and crash and swapped since I play left handed...it would really stink to go from that down to only 4 pads and no cymbals.

they said they'd support pro drums, so you can still use them for RB4

I know it's a little late, but better nate than lever.
I typed up songs from bands that are already in the game so that it's more reasonable, like some system of a down and barenaked ladies.
