I wonder what resolution this game runs at. Might just be 480p, but it would be cool to see it move these games into 720p at least.

From what I heard, it uses StepMania 5 as its engine.

You said it was "more like Real Pump than Pump Pro", but it has Discowarp songs in it?
The only thing actually wrong with Pump It Up Pro as a product was that it was a solid game engine, watered down by third-rate western Doujin crap.
I'm interested in the engine, but as I said before, it looks on the surface like the equivelant of a "DDR Universe 2 Arcade Machine" - great engine, good revivals, but if the new content consists of songs that don't appeal to fans of the series *OR* the general public, what's the point? All Pump fans actually want is a new game every year that has 30 carefully-selected, danceable Korean pop songs, and thoughtful Crazy / Freestyle steps.

We have new remixes of LIADZ, Hypnosis, Will O The Wisp and quite a few other classic pump songs >_>

I never got to play Pump much, but if it has a Love is a Danger Zone remix, it gets my approval.

INFINITY looks like it will be the best of both worlds. This could be really damn good.

I don't really want to be aggressive about it, but if Diverse Records had the license to do a DDR game, I wouldn't be excited about that either. The Yahpp songs are very love-or-hate, and the idea of doujin artists making remixes doesn't excite me any more than Diverse making a "Tribute To DDR" game.
I'll give it a go if I get a chance to play it, and I don't mind change, but from the POV of someone who's pumped thousands of pounds into playing Pump It Up, my idea of PIU isn't difined by 5-panels, and the names of some songs.
Look at PIU Extra : It's an entirely new game made by an entirely different group of people from the main Pump series, but it still manages to capture the tone and feel of a Pump It Up game. It didn't suddenly jump from the series' trademark use of quality, danceable, (genuinly) popular music, to stupid western bubblegum tribute acts.

I couldn't agree more. Ever since I saw PRO and PRO 2 songs filter into the main series, this was the direction I had hoped the PRO tangent would eventually take; fusing what makes it unique into what makes the original unique and creating a hybrid game that is much more international-friendly than the K-music-dominant Pump It Ups.
Not that that's a bad thing, not to me anyways, just that it corners the series into a niche even more specific than DDR.

This probably isn't going to be for you then, despite being more influenced by the main series than the PROs were. There is a sequel to Fiesta EX coming later this year so you have that to look forward to.

I play Technika and never thought Infinity looked like its interface. Can someone tell me why so many people say they look alike?
Also, what is up with Gargoyle Full's chart, do people really like that kind of stuff? (100% stream, literally, excluding the very last note)

That's the charts that PIU players like. PIU Charts are ITG-ish mostly, with some gimmicks.
