To me, the hardest difficulty of a song should not feel understepped. That's what all the easier difficulties are for. Just my 2 cents.
I strongly disagree.Post #342 · Posted at 2017-05-30 05:52:00am 6.9 years ago

I strongly disagree.
And that's fine, we can have different opinions, just as different people will have different charting styles. I'm just giving rationale for my score.
I'm sure not everyone will like my charting style either.

Honestly, I agree with Nezemarth and warpdr!ve. I feel that there are a lack of reviews and feedbacks for this contest, especially since there are a few new participants in this. I'll say that if you are going to do reviews, please do consider the other difficulties for those with multiple charts. There are cases where I find, say, a chart better than a chart. If you do happen to ask me for feedback, however, I'll PM you my thoughts on it.
In response to hiddennames' review of Replay, I did try to step some of the wubs at the beginning of the song (if you were referring that part as slightly overstepped). I did make the whole simfile around 4-5 months ago by now, so there may be some inconsistencies in there since revising it recently. I can see why you thought some parts of it were arbitrary, then again that's my take on it.

When I review charts, I go for all of the available , , and charts. There are actually cases where the chart of a file was enough to push it into my points range if the / weren't doing it for me (I think DJXYZ's East Tokyo comes to mind).
Oh by the way you guys should step The Carpal Tunnel of Love - Fall Out Boy please.
Append:
I get that having it all half speed could be annoying, but you can't just stop playing a file halfway. What if you missed some fatal double steps that could kill the file, or some amazing pattern/innovative gimmicks that could get your +5? And just because having the majority of it is half speed?
There's always C-Mods, you know... ._.

H Diagram - Oni-91 : I stopped playing halfway through cause having the vast majority of the chart at half speed is annoying to me. Seemed fine rhythmically.

That part of the file was at 112. Half-speed my ass.

By stopped playing halfway through, I just simply watched the chart instead (I have no fail on).
I don't like C-Mod, if you have to turn on cmod then I feel like there's something wrong with the chart.
In this case, either the vast majority of the song is half speed, or you can double the scroll speed and the end of the song is wayyyy too fast. (Doesn't feel like the double speed is necessary at all)
I gave the chart another shot with double the speed. Came up with essentially the same conclusion. There's this 16th double step
between left and right arrows, while you have a hold with one foot that feels slightly uncomfortable but I don't think its necessarily bad.

That's a footswitch, You treat it as two 16th triplets, switching your foot on the freeze.

Interesting. Though we seem to have different definitions of footswitches.
This is a footswitch pattern to me:
you have to hit the two up arrows with your left foot and then your right.

It's still a footswitch, you're hitting the same panel with different feet. It's just a different display method and a different pattern.

Well I was going to make an easier song but then the theme came out so....
I'm a pretty big fan of jRPG or just video game music in general. The game that this song comes from is about a bunch of kids going to a magic school to make potions and other general alchemy stuff.
... Which sounds a lot like Harry Potter. Well if you know how the story of Harry Potter goes (or just know how jRPGs usually turn out), then you'll know why this song exists.
Plays like a 10 for the most part until the guitar solo.
Beware of footswitches in the solo.

I'm guessing the genre is supposed to be [LAUGH ROCK], but I like the original spelling anyway for the lols.

Anyway, I love this song back when it was released. It's by an indie rock band from Australia (which is now disbanded). The band, I believe, has some other songs that made it to the ARIA charts, and this one was in triple j's Hottest 100 in 2007 at #5.
The only chart has mines and warps in there (you can guess where those be placed). Speaking of which, I may add more charts later if I have some time to spare.

From jubeat saucer.
I was going to work with a more easy-going song, but after reviewing my last simfile, I decided to go with something a little more hard-mode. This was a beast to sync with the offbeats and BPM changes--it might be best to study the gimmicks on easier charts, then prepare for them again on the harder levels? (By the way, if the slower part looks ridiculous, that's how it's supposed to look--the jubeat playthrough looks equally arrhythmic.)
Hope you find it fun!
