I've long actually suspected that some BEMANI composers also create the step-charts for their songs.
It would go a long way to explaining why historically speaking charts for licensed music are generally much less memorable than charts for the Konami originals (though, like anything else, this isn't absolute).

Before making music for DDR, he was already a step artist. I don't know if it was before he started composing for GFDM or what song he stepped either though.

As a side note, how many people would flame me if I put "DDR" and "redemption game" in the same sentence? I mean, it is Konmai we're talking about here, so I know that realistically it wouldn't work. But I'm sure the right mathematical formulas would allow new players to noticeably win bigger ticket yields while top players draw attention through their yields, and yet they don't clear the entire prize rack after clearing a bunch of 18s. Ignoring the complex mathematics and how exactly we get it to work, would people hate the existence of a redemption aspect in a DDR game simply because of its very existence?.
I have thought about this quite a lot. Here is a copy paste of some ideas I whipped up for a redemption system DDR A could use.
>Initial 5 tickets for logging onto e-Amusement per session
>Initial 10 tickets for logging onto e-Amusement per day
>Initial 20 tickets for logging onto e-Amusement at least once 7 days in a row
* Daily 10 tickets replace the 5 tickets per session during the first session of the day when obtained
* Weekly 20 tickets replace Daily 10 tickets during the first session of the day when obtained
>Amount of tickets per grade obtained x Song Difficulty number:
5=AAA
4=AA-
3=A-
2=B-
1=C-
0=D
>Additional 5 tickets for every new song chart played
* e-Amusement users will not earn tickets for song charts they have already registered a score for, unless they get a grade that suceeds the one previously registered
Maximum obtainable amount of tickets:
5 tickets for obtaining AAA grade
x
19 for playing song rated 19 in difficulty
+
5 for playing a chart without a registered score in e-Amusement account/has not been played previously during session
+
Weekly 20 tickets
=
120 for one song
405 for 4 songs
810 for 4 songs during two player mode
* Tickets are all distributed at the final results screen or game over screen
>Initial 10 tickets for logging onto e-Amusement per day

This is pretty cool! My main comment is this- If you don't have an eAmuse, you're basically getting 5 extra tickets per song, but if you do, that'll wear off after a few weeks of playing. I do think the eAmuse bonus is a pretty good incentive for people to get themselves an account, though- Maybe the song first play bonus is either heightened for eAmuse players, or disabled for regular play? Also, I think it would be fine to have at least a minimal payout if you fail a song- probably gives a penalty and has a minimum of 5 tickets or something.
A few other ideas:
-Bonuses for FCs and PFCs
-Fixed ticket bonus for clearing the extra stage (Depends on difficulty, and whether or not you're playing an EXTRA EXCLUSIVE or EXTRA SAVIOR)
-Bonuses when playing versus/doubles?
-I know that Beatmania IIDX has weekly ranking songs- Maybe a random song or three every day that gives a higher payout with eAmuse once per day?
Redemption games may be hit-and-miss in quality, and most of us probably don't care about prizes at arcades. But since we're good at this game and likely to win huge ticket payouts, I bet that would grab the attention of kids who're in it for the prizes. And hey, I hear they have PS4s and stuff at D&B.

According to RemyWiki, he's been stepping stuff since Supernova, a few months before his GFDM deubt. Can't find anything saying what specifically he's worked on.Post #3647 · Posted at 2017-03-22 12:14:00am 7.1 years ago

When the melody from Another Phase appears in the middle of the song, please remember the story that began with Another Phase, the song that symbolized the DanceDanceRevolution title which removed the numbering, and that ends with Over The “Period” (but it is not the end!).

I didn't know Another Phase was sampled in OTP. Also notice how the former song is the first song on DDR 2013 OST.

Another Phase is not explicitly sampled in Over The "Period", per se. The part directly after the wave gimmicks has a similar melody to Another Phase. It seems to be pushed a couple of keys up and shifted to a minor key of sorts in comparison to Another Phase.
Compare 1:04-1:14 from OTP to 0:14-0:24 from Another Phase. For that period of time, the melodies are very similar (though after that range, OTP deviates to build suspense for the upcoming 210/420/840 BPM sections to come.)

There's definitely a resemblance. Both are also at 160 beats per minute, right?

I love how we are just now finding out that 80% of TAG's song are the same thing.

The only thing is now, that TAG actually adresses this and that there's at least one connection between some of his songs. Amazing.

Hearing about this connection between OTP and Another Phase is reminding me of how much I want a new song series. This is much cooler, though- Reminds me of how I've noticed that Ryu*'s Starmine appears pretty much everywhere in his songs.

I never noticed the Another Phase section of Over the "period" (mostly beccause I hate another phase as a song and have only heard it all the way through once or twice), but I always thought the beginning of Shiny World and OtP were styled to similarly.
It has felt for awhile now that Tag has come down with Yoshitaka syndrome.

I like that a lot of people really don't know what the goddamn heck a sample is. I wonder why the Music Production threads aren't heavily filled...
