We're back by demands from fellow ZIv users, bringing back to you Simfile Shuffle 2014! This time, vincentw and Scarz joined me in managing this~
HOW DOES THIS WORK?:
Once you're in, you'll need to PM me/Scarz/vincentw your song file + (at the very least) decently synced SM skeleton. The files are then assigned randomly to everyone. You have one week to make the simfile you are assigned to, and after that there will be voting for the best simfile of the week.
CONTEST RULES:
1. You must submit a music file in order to play in the round.
2. You are required to vote. Failure to vote will disqualify your entry for the corresponding week.
3. You are not allowed to vote for your own chart.
4. Only one song per week.
5. Entries must be uploaded by the deadline: Monday 5 PM UTC every week.
6. The entries must be named accordingly: [ROUND 1] - SONG. Yes, that includes the hyphen.
SONG SUBMISSION RULES:
1. Don't intentionally cheese your submission.
2. Songs submitted are required to be less than two minutes and thirty seconds. That means you have to cut it beforehand.
3. Submit a SM skeleton alongside with the music file. This must include the BPM tag and the OFFSET tag, minimum.
4. Don't intentionally cheese your submission.
5. Again, DO NOT intentionally cheese your submission.
Note: Song submission is open to everyone. Songs submitted by non-participants will be set aside on the backup pile. Participants are allowed to submit songs for the backup pile too. More on "backup pile" later.
SIMFILE RULES:
1. at least S-,, and are required, any other chart is optional.
2. Songs must be rated in DDR's old scale of 1-10 or ITG's scale of 1-13.
3. No keyboard charts. DDR/ITG charts only.
4. Automatically generated steps are not allowed.
5. You are given TWO veto right for the whole contest, usable anytime you wish.
6. If you are given a song you already stepped, you may opt to get another song, drawn out from the backup pile randomly. This does NOT count as veto-ing the song.
7. Songs rejected due to rule #6 will be put into the backup pile.
Note: The backup pile is not publicly visible.
Elaborating on the veto: If you are assigned a song you don't want to step, you are allowed to use your veto to dismiss that song. The song assigned to you will be drawn out from the backup pile randomly and you must step that song instead.
SIMFILE VOTING:
You are given 15 points which you can freely distribute to any number of entries, subject to a maximum of 5 pts per entry. The winner is decided on which simfile has the highest score.
Example:
Additionally, we're giving bonus points for the submitter of the song to recognize the good choice they made.
Submitter will receive points if the song placed:
1st: 15% of points or 3pts,
2nd: 10% of points or 2pts,
3rd: 5% of points or 1pts,
whichever is higher.
TIMING:
Week 1. Send in your song files for ROUND 1
Week 2. Songs are picked at random; you have 1 week to do it. Send in song files for the ROUND 2.
Week 3. Judgement starts on ROUND 1 songs and submissions for ROUND 2 songs begin, Send in songs for ROUND 3.
After that it's rinse and repeat.
Contest will run for 12 rounds.
Sign-ups start now and the contest will start November 3rd.
PARTICIPANTS:
TL;DR -- CHANGES FROM LAST SS:
・You might get the song you submitted yourself.
・Voting system changed from fixed 5/4/3/2/1 to freely distributable 15pts, max 5pts per entry.
・Two veto for each participant for the whole contest.
・Submitter of the song that placed in a round gets bonus points.

I'm signing up. This is actually my first time being an event co-host, so hopefully I can do this with minimal errors lol.
Spreadsheet is open; link is in my signature, as well as here. (There's probably nothing to look at right now, though.)
Basically the same format as the one for Summer Contest, with some changes to suit Simfile Shuffle:
- Added a new colour category: purple. This is used for people who didn't step their assigned file, be it a missed week or vetoed.
- Added a new row: file by. Lists the file makers to the left of the simfile title.
- Changed the font to a slightly smaller one to accommodate that new row.
I hope this event will be a success!

I guess I'll come out of lurk mode to join this.
This is a really good change IMO. In past contests I've felt bad about not being able to give points to that #6 file even though it was still really good.

Same here. Sign me up, but I probably won't have time to participate except maybe Thanksgiving week.
I've quick clarification: if I don't submit a music file for a particular week, then I am not given a song to step, right? Or do I have to explicitly state that I'm not participating in a certain week so I don't receive a skeleton that will not be finished?

If you don't submit a skeleton file+cut for that week you will not receive a file that same week, you don't have to state it don't worry haha. And everyone is added~
