StepMania 5 Preview 1a is now available! It contains some important bug fixes with the editor and song loading/parsing, so anyone using Preview 1 should upgrade immediately, and anyone not using Preview 1 should get this anyway.
Download at the usual Google Code location.

"Give me a steady beat." |
Question. How do I make StepMania 5 default to 1x? I tried many things including a Static.ini file and it just won't listen to me.

Open theme/default/metric.ini with notepad or wordpad, look for defaultmodifier code under [Common] and change the value in the right.

Yeah but because of how well developed SM SSC ended up being, chris decided to pass development on to the new group, or something like that anyway.Post #8 · Posted at 2011-06-04 02:17:25pm 12.9 years ago

Apparently upgrading to preview 1a fixed my preference saving problem. Good show old bean.
Now and forever. sm-ssc became the new official branch of the code and is now StepMania 5.

In other words SM4 has been sent to the graveyard.

Well that explains everything. I don't really follow the whole Stepmania team and stuff so thanks for that note.

I got my computer working again. Uninstall 3.9 and now it's working again. Now I need a new stepmania program. OH HI Stepmania 5!
bump: Do stepmania SSC themes work on stepmania 5? Just not a fan of the default theme to be honest. Same question goes with noteskins.

I would imagine so, it's pretty much sm ssc with a few changes?
Give it a go, if not, just wait for a bit till the first release, you could even just keep on with SM ssc till such time.

I've tried out a few themes and they work, but with glitches.Give it a go, if not, just wait for a bit till the first release, you could even just keep on with SM ssc till such time.

I would just like to make a request for SM5 if its even possible.
I know a lot of people really enjoy MASTER modes, so I was wondering if that could be put into SM5. You could have the challenges pre-programmed in and then let the people put in the songs.
Just saying
edit- Is there a unlock system for SM5 (like the one in SM3, SM3+, and SM4), and if so, how does it work?

You can just pull the arrows out of OpenITG (ala 3.95) and convert them fairly easily I believe.
Better than that, the arrow skins in ITG PC are coded for 4.0. Might make it easier, I dunno.

A couple of ideas to think about:
Choose how long a stop is based on the many beats it is (suggested somewhere before)
An option to delete all steps except for single and double (single songs and folders)
Different offsets for each account
Be able to move all the bpm changes and stops not only whole beats but smaller increments
I know I had some others in mind, I just can't think of them now. I'll edit this post later
Edit: Be able to copy steps from one song to another
