They're basically the same, except Macs still don't have two mouse buttons for some godforsaken reason.
Never heard of the Mighty Mouse? (Yeah so it looks like it only has one button)

Never heard of the Mighty Mouse? (Yeah so it looks like it only has one button)I've used one. It seemed like it missed about 1/10 clicks, and right click doesn't seem to actually do anything in OSX. And the Macbook still appears to have only one "button."

The whole touch area is a button now and the multi-touch functions are kick ass.

That doesn't make my statement that it only has one button false (though that could be gotten around pretty easily with assignable gestures) and my 2001/2002 Vaio has multitouch and gestures. And when wasn't the whole touchpad a button?
Honestly not trying to trash Macs. I mean fuck, I kind of want a Macbook. I just think a lot of the geekboner over these "new" features is pretty unwarranted.

The mighty mouse is one of the most un-ergonomic mice I've ever had the displeasure of using. No comment on their operating systems or other products, but Apple cannot design mice worth crap. I've never seen anyone willingly use the mighty mouse.
Mice are serious business, obv.

Can your Vaio go backward and forward on your browser by sliding 3 fingers? HUH CAN IT? CAN IT!?? I just use Macs because they can fully utilize Adobe features so whatever.Honestly not trying to trash Macs. I mean fuck, I kind of want a Macbook. And Adobe is recommended for music.
Anyway, I could go with Windows since there's a lot of software developed for it).
And I could go with Apple, since it's quite rare to see an apple computer (it's even rare, though not as much, to see a vista or XP Media Center pc here, btw), and the dock blows me away and overall appearance blows me away.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it could do that. I had it assigned to the corner tap zones though. It doesn't work anymore though, so I can't check, and apparently no one knew that computers could do that 7 years ago. The Wikipedia entry seems to think multitouch pads were brought to PCs along with the new Macbook.

I'm a geek... as I've mentioned to people (due to my proclivity toward hardware tinkering), I'll buy a Mac when Apple allows me to build my own.
...as a result, I'm pretty confident in the fact that I will never own a Mac.

I'd have to say Windows. Also, to all you right-click noobs it's not hard (if you are at least a bit tech savvy) to plug in some random two button you find and assign the commands yourself. Unix is a little easier to customize in that sense.
Just the same Windows is so much more customizable. You can replicate the macdock on your desktop now so anybody going for interface or appearance is at a loss. Personally Vista is crap and I fear Windows 6 will be a Mac clone DOS style.
Yeah, so here are all the known arguments:
Microsoft Office originally designed for the Mac: And it STILL works better on Microsoft
Macs get less or no viruses: Nobody cares to hack a mac/nobody really important owns one/my cousin got a virus on his mac (2005 OS)
Macs are more compatible: No, they just aren't
Windows Security is horrible: Windows is copying Norton, Norton sucks, not Windows, go get AVG you homeless *******s
Mac comes ready out of the box/Windows requires extensive set-up: Totally untrue, Macs and Windows go through the same registratio process/Just because you make a whole computer in a screen doesn't make it better

Look, it's a simple truth: Technology does not adapt to the user.
The best pc's are hard to use. Guess what? We nerds learn to use them. If you want everything to come to you and are too lazy to figure out how to do something on your own, go get a Mac, or else buy a Vista and don't bother fixing it. If you want a GOOD machine, go get a Windows computer and spend a couple hours tweaking it around. You'll get a LOT more bang for your buck.
I think I might make a guide in some irrelevant part of these forums on how to fix your windows if it sucks.

Wrong. *nix is the most customizable. My home setup is so different from my brother's that you wouldn't even be able to find more than a couple similarities. The scope for how different two different *nix installs can be is so much wider than you see on windows or mac.Post #33 · Posted at 2009-01-13 08:03:13am 15.3 years ago

Evidently you were careful to quote me, so I remind you that it says "so much more".
This is just between Windows and Mac.

Okay, fair enough, I was just possessed and had to put my bit in. Especially since my home computer is (intentionally) customized to the point of nobody else being able to use it effectively.

I say whatever helps you get you work done as efficiently as possible is the best. Whether it's office work, rendering a video, or fragging someone, whatever OS helps you be as efficient as possible. Prefer the Mac OS while doing your college paper? Fine. Want your Windows for your Photoshop? OK. Playing games in Linux? Whatever. Of course, you can argue tech specs, overall design issues, and so on, but at the end of the day it's what fits the individual user best, not all users as a whole.
Me personally, I use both Windows XP SP2 and Leopard equally for gaming, office, and other functions, and I'm currently learning several versions of Linux.
The right click argument makes me laugh a lot, as you can right click in Mac with either a keyboard command or any USB two button mouse. People using right click as their only argument for superiority of Windows of Mac is just... unfounded. Why not talk about how programs don't close when you simply close the window, or something more permanent, rather than something as superficial as right clicking?
