Monopoly much? You can PATENT the way a game is run. Thats like trying to patent the first person shooter. If they had issues with the games, they should have taken care of it when the problems 1st started aka, when the games came out.

I get what you mean, but it seems that in the music game world each game seems to be a different "genre". Like, if you invent a new musical instrument and then I come with a new instrument:
The same you made with two or three extra or differently placed holes.

I think Konami fears friendly competition. Like if someone makes a music and rhythm game better than they do they'd be obliged to actually put in some friggin' effort. I'm surprised they haven't tried suing London Studio over SingStar yet.
Konami Executive: "Ah yes, Karaoke games! Don't we own all the rights to those in any way shape or form? Granted our attempts at bringing the genre to Europe was pitiful at best but we can't let another company make money from our short-sightedness."

This is the only reason I hate patents. It throttles creativity because it can be so difficult to make something like something else and improve on the genre when you're walking on eggshells as to whether it violates any patents.

Well, Konami's patents are just so vague that they can do anything with them. I don't find the fact that they're suing is ridiculous; I just find the fact that they CAN sue is.

What bugs me about this is that Konami waited when DJ MAX got popular to sue them. It really makes it look like that Konami is the only one who can make a DJ based game and no one can do anything about it. How about instead of waiting for a game that’s better then Konami’s game, how about putting some damn effort to it.
I’m not a fan of DJ MAX, but this is a dick of a move.

Um..DJ Hero That's going to get shot down when it is released and you know it!
Doubt it. Activision will pay them off to keep silent, just like they did with Guitar Hero. Konami's just as greedy as ATVI anymore, so it works out.

I don't know what is going on in the unstable mind that is konami. This one of those times that I was proud growing up
with Capcom and Namco games.
I'll be rooting for Pentavision. Perhaps konami losing this lawsuit will knock some sense into it (winning lawsuits might and will go to their ego and pride).
