Do you remember when, and what you played it on, too?
Mine was True Love by Jun I played it on A20 around Summer 2022...C rank (Last week, I played it on ESP-10, AA GFC...never give up...or something ) it's such a cute song...I will remember it forever.

BreAk Down! on DDR MAX 2 for the PS2. This was like 2005.
A friend back when I was a teen bought a dance pad and MAX 2 at a video rental store that was going out of business so we spent the day taking turns playing DDR for the first time, and we both loved BreAk Down!

I will never forget my first DDR experience!
Back in 2001, the only DDR machine we had in my city was DDR Solo 2000. I wanted to try it so badly, but I was too shy so here is what I did: I downloaded a DDR simulator called Delight Delight Reduplication (there was no Stepmania back then) and got some of the Solo 2000 songs (BMS format, if I remember right), then I drew the DDR pad on the floor with a piece of chalk, tic-tac-toe style, and I started practicing like that, while the simulator was on autoplay. Less than a month later, I finally tried the real thing at the arcade, and the first song I tried was Club Tropicana on Basic / Light mode, just to get a feel for the real arcade pad, then immediately after I went for my favourite song, the one I always wanted to play: I Don't Want To Miss A Thing ~Planet Lution Mix~ on Maniac / Heavy mode, and I got a AA or maybe even a AAA (In DDR Solo 2000, you can get AAA even if you get some greats). My third song was probably Dream A Dream ~Miami Booty Mix~.
So yeah, even though Club Tropicana was technically my first song, I will always treasure I Don't Want To Miss A Thing as my first.

EDIT: Ugh, my memory's really fuzzy. I'll just say that Boom Boom Dollar in 2nd ReMix is the first song that I actually remember.

Same song "HAVE YOU NEVER BEEN MELLOW" but in a "Dance Dance Revolution (1.5) INTERNET RANKING Ver." machine to be specific. The only Lv.1 song in SINGLE BASIC.

"Club Tropicana" was also my first ever tried song for 6Panel Chart in a "Dance Dance Revolution Solo BASS MIX" machine. The only Lv.1 song for 6PANEL BASIC and becomes my favourite 😁Post #10 · Posted at 2024-07-08 04:10:47am 3 months ago
I have a couple of my earliest DDR memories from around 4-5 years old, and I can't remember which one was first so I'll share both
My immediate family and some of my cousins would have birthday parties at Chuck E. Cheese's close to our house, which had a DDR USA machine
The first song I remember playing on that cab was SO MANY MEN
We also had DDR at home...the first mix we had was DDR Disney Mix, so not much of a mix by today's standards, and I definitely played through all the songs but I remember It's a Small World the most (probably because it was a 1 on and played during the ending credits)
Edit: spelling

I don't remember the first DDR song I ever played. I first had Ultramix 2 on Xbox and played on controller to start, but it wasn't until we got Ultramix (had to swap it because EBGames gave us the wrong game) that I actually got a pad to play on. My first play was either Castles in the Sky or AFTER THE GAME OF LOVE .

What a way to practice...! I practiced a fair amount in early 2023 with a cardboard DDR pad, print-outs of the panels secured with duct tape, then, placed it in front of the TV, finding charts on YouTube and attempting them as best I could.

I don't remember well but I started play Dance Dance Revolution in 4th mix with Gotcha and Shake your Booty. I'm always practicing both in basci because the rest of the songs was difficult to me until i can dominate them.

"Club Tropicana" was also my first ever tried song for 6Panel Chart in a "Dance Dance Revolution Solo BASS MIX" machine. The only Lv.1 song for 6PANEL BASIC and becomes my favourite 😁
It's a great song! Actually, almost every song from the Solo series was just amazing. The only one I never liked (but that's just me) is GET UP'N MOVE, lol!Quote: androids

Are you kidding me?, that sounds just AWESOME! Did you practice like that before, or after trying the real arcade? Do you still have the cardboard pad? I would love to... no, wait, I'm sure WE would all love to see it.Post #16 · Posted at 2024-07-09 02:54:43am 2.9 months ago

Oh god, it's been so long. I do remember what my go-tos were on Extreme. Waka Laka, Señorita, Irrisisteblement, Speed Over Beethoven. I want to say I discovered DDR through downloading music on limewire?
I do have this ancient photo of 12 year old me in 2008 doing the how to play mode.

I had made this to practice after I had played for the first time, deciding to make one during a family visit, where I was unable to visit the arcade..!

So I looked through my past of playing DDR in my PS1 (1st, 2ndReMIX, and Best Hits at the time) because I started there before the arcades. I'm concluding that "Let Them Move" from 2ndReMIX was the first song I ever played.

My early memories of DDR are a bit fuzzy, but if I remember correctly it was Graduation on a DDR Extreme cabinet in 2019. I'd already been playing StepMania at home with a soft pad for a few months prior to this, but this was my first experience with a DDR game specifically.
