"ARR JOO LEADY??" |
So, how's everybody been doing this year?
Obviously, shelter-in-place orders and arcade closures/reductions in service are affecting a lot of us old rats here, some better and some worse. I've been absurdly busy, as everyone where I now live is migrating to work-from-home models, and my gf is running a psychotherapy office in a 2B/2b apartment on a third floor (does not make kindly for dance pads), with a super bouncy 7yo on board.
I may have some serious rust to shake off after all of this; but I've been digging into KoF All-Star. Got a good routine down and characters powered up enough to auto-pilot where I need them to in the meantime.
What are you all getting into?

The factory I work at is considered essential, so I’m still going into work. Other than that and spending quality time with my Switch, I’m getting back into Zumba in a sense and putting up videos of my routines for people to do at home, if they so choose. I’ll even be using some BEMANI stuff.

I chose to work from home before the company effectively forced us to two weeks later. Currently in week 7. Going slightly mad, but still alive, so I guess it works out in the end. Fortunately I live right next to a park so I can at least go out for a walk still when the cabin fever gets too much.

I'm still working because I'm a department manager in a small grocery store. I haven't been leaving my apartment for anything other than work and I've been replaying a shitload of Switch games I haven't had the chance to revisit until now.
My health's fine and actually better than the previous two garbage years I just had.
I'm wondering if the nearest Round 1 will still be open after this is over since it was one of only 2 places remaining in the dying mall it was in.

I started working at home way before the corona pandemic hit Stockholm, so not much has changed there. That isn’t to say things haven’t changed. Since our government imposed prohibitions on events gathering more than 50 people, everything from sports events to conventions to concerts have been cancelled. Several businesses are of course struggling to stay afloat. I haven’t been able to visit my local arcade, partly because while it’s still open I know it would be a bad idea since it’s sharing a building with a bar. Not to mention I myself have taken ill two times this spring. I’m fully recovered now, but I’m not sure whether or not I’ve been hit by Covid-19 and I have to be careful, obviously.

I love Zumba! I’ve been teaching since 2009! I’d love to see some of your routines!

Oh nice! I taught classes for a little over a year and then I had to stop because of a different job I got. So far I have 10 videos uploaded, but I will be updating the playlist each week. I’m just warning you, though, my style of Zumba is more on the challenging side.

Been out of work for a little over a month now, bored out of my mind. Waiting for work from home to be implemented but at this point I'm just like fuck this company and I need to find a new job. However so do millions of other Americans

I don't think I could ever work from home, I'd be too easily distracted.

My job isn't one that can be done from home but I'm still getting paid for the hours I'd normally be working so yeah. Just trying the best I can to keep myself occupied to keep my mind off of everything going on.

I was actually looking for work before all this happens, so now I pretty much stuck at home with family.
I still need to do my job search efforts, however I do keep myself busy (and somewhat sane) by doing some art every now and then. Also the park's pretty close to my home, so I can take a walk to there when I need to.

My position is the same, jobless and stuck at home working on art and DDR. At least the quarantine is giving me time to focus on other projects such as reanimation collabs. I also got good ol' z-i-v to worry about.
So yeah, just doin' art, makin' simfiles, playin' Animal Crossing, and goin' to the park or the convenience store to give me something to do.

A few days ago I broke up with my boyfriend of three years, so that combined with the lockdown means I'm ready to die any minute now.

My phone screen is cracked again. It happened when I was jogging with it earlier, and I haven't even had this phone for half a year.
It still works, but it'll take forever with the phone repair shops closed to have it fixed or replaced. So once again, I'm in a pretty bad mood and I hope this quarantine ends soon.
Also...
My condolences to you for your loss. Boyfriends and girlfriends come and go over time, but it is really upsetting to hear about what has happened, especially during these dire hours. You can still confide in us, whenever. We need to bring ourselves close, while not in person, but still in spirit. Let's not let this quarantine further divide and isolate us.

(Apologies for the necro.)
A lot's happened to me throughout the quarantine. Let's go through the highlights in chronological order:
- Got cable back and have binged on Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and occasionally the Food Network since
- Got Animal Crossing: New Horizons on release, then got bored of it in June
-- Similarly, resurrected my Discord account in January, then abandoned it in May for...personal reasons, letting it stay dormant. To think I got Nitro on my birthday...
- Got plenty of digital art commissions throughout the year, much moreso than I'd initially imagined
- Dragged myself kicking and screaming into The Loud House's fandom after watching one too many episodes of it and The Casagrandes
-- On that note, learned too late that all the kids' networks can't reair any episodes regarding illness (and even irrelevant sister ones!) because of the quarantine, thus forcing me to go online to watch four TLH episodes and two SpongeBob ones I missed
- Had my sleep schedule get nearly irreparably fucked up over the summer. All-nighters became commonplace, and I'm kinda trying to fix it.
- Got a therapist. I see her every other Friday.
- Got into a new idle game on Kongregate named Synergism. It has a slow start, but trust me, it gets better.
- [maybe more stuff can be added if I remember it?]
EDIT: Added more stuff that happened over 2020.

I guess I can also sound off on what's happened during quarantine for me.
- Turned 22 in late March. As it was near the start of quarantine, I was at home (but my family bought a cheesecake, so that was nice)
- Graduated from university in May with a B.S. in Math, and started graduate school in August (M.S. in Education + teaching credential). Wasn't until December that the university had a virtual graduation ceremony.
- Left my on-campus job as a math tutor in June after initially planning to continue working during graduate school. Now I'm self-employed.
- Was asked (by a friend of mine) to be a groomsman for the first time in my life. Bachelor party in June was a lot of fun, and the wedding in July was memorable (especially since I caught the garter)
-- Some of the things I did with the other guys at the bachelor party include going off-roading, shooting, riding a boat (even had a moment to commandeer the boat), and grilling. All of these were my first time. Oh, and I also won at Super Mario Party despite almost intentionally rolling low numbers for half the game.
- Got my laptop replaced
- Took a covid test. Results came back negative (thank God)
- Replaced my iPhone 8 rear camera lens. Probably one of the most nerve-wracking repair experiences I'll ever have in my life.
- Made a discord account (salt#6920)
- Been making custom simfiles. I'll plug my YouTube channel here and my simfile category here (both are very much works in progress)

-- simfile category: https://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v5.2/viewsimfilecategory.php?categoryid=1389
