My only request is basically to see what the eAmuse login/logout/event screens look like in English. Mainly because this is the first game outside of Asia to officially/legitimately use eAmuse (unless Tsum Tsum beat DDR to it, in which case, I don't know because Moreno Valley's Round1 doesn't have one yet. >> ).

I doubt it...But, it's definitely gonna be a Partial Translation like they did it with the DDR 2014 location test in the US.

The eAmu login screens were 99% in English during the DDR 2014 location test; I took a vid of registering my pass for the first time. As for A, it'll probably be translated how 2014 was but there isn't much to do on the login screen anymore since everything is managed online now.
Tsum Tsum uses the US eAmu server, and I heard A will as well. I also think this means that the maintenance time will be different than the 1-3pm pacific time it is on the Asian server (which 2014 location test used).

even if they put in American licenses, chances are none of you will care for them or like them, just like with the Hottest Party games and all the US console games. Some people complained so much about those back then, yet now it's a priority?
Yes, if American licenses were put in, chances are I wouldn't care or like them. But they are absolutely essential if DDR is to regain even a tiny glimmer of the widespread popularity it had back in the day. Back then, the average American's exposure to DDR consisted of perhaps playing on a machine once a month or so when they happened to be in an arcade. These people are automatically going to search for any familiar song they actually recognize, and songs like "Jerk It Out" were what sucked them into playing a round. The only two songs that ever get consistently played by casuals on the X2 in the arcade near me are "Feels Good Inc" by Gorillaz and "Ice Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice - both horrible songs imo, but appealing to the general US population because they're songs the average American recognizes. Once machines start drawing in more of the casual crowd with US licenses, then you start getting a few of those people that actually really like the game enough to become avid DDR players, which will bring some life back to the DDR community in the US.
This is part of the reason why I think games like "Just Dance" still maintain high levels of popularity in America while DDR died out. Although DDR console games made an effort to include American licenses, the 7-8 or so familiar US pop songs that appeared on a release paled in comparison to the 50+ that were on Just Dance titles, making Just Dance much more appealing to the general public.
I know that DDR will never even come close to reaching the heights it did in the US ~10 years ago, but having some American pop tunes that people recognize is a good first step into bringing it back into the public eye.

I take issue with "Feel Good Inc is a horrible song"...

I third this.
Also Ice Ice Baby is one of those songs that's so bad it's good.

Well, it looks like the US release of DDR A might be a partial translation after all...Localized or not, but who knows, right? We'll find out tomorrow.

Anyway, I don't know if anyone noticed this (I didn't until today!), but I saw that when you're playing OT"P" in DDR A, the step zone flashes on the beat now (as opposed to right in between beats, like before).
I guess for whatever reason, DDR 2014 started the song (as in "showing the HERE WE GO message") half a beat before the first step. At which point the step zone started flashing at the wrong times. And Konami seems to have learned from that. But now in DDR A,
-one beat before the first arrow, the "HERE WE GO" message appears, and
-half a beat before the first arrow, the screen filter (if you have that option on, of course) shows up.
-Good luck, have fun, don't die from the first arrow out. Especially on the 840 BPM speedup
Some people were complaining about how hard it was to time, and I don't know if it was because the step zone was screwing them over. In particular, the speedup at 1:40 in the first video (where the BPM goes 105-210-420-210) messed up people because that section before ran at 160 BPM. So unless you knew the song, you couldn't time that transition to save your life. Only now is Konami playing nice with us in that respect. That's just my observation on this for now.

That's actually pretty informative. Thanks for pointing that out! It's nice to see them fixing details like those.
I actually always thought that was on purpose, as having a visual indicator flash on the half beats actually really helps with timing the first note and the slowdown, especially when you were forced to PFC it on like 1x and there's no musical cues.Post #1552 · Posted at 2016-07-05 05:52:29am 9.5 years ago

^ And all Round1 locations in the US are set to get it after at least the California Dave & Busters locations as Round1 piggybacked off of their order. So if you have a Round1 and a D&B in your city, I would try the Round1 first (unless D&B is significantly closer) as the D&B is much less likely to have the game.
I'm pretty sure it was originally intentional. They tried to make it as hard to pass in the EES limitations as possible, which likely included making the step zone offbeat to throw off players. Now that it's regularly playable, there's no need for that, so they fixed it.

^But I'm saying that the offbeat step zone makes the beginning section significantly easier to pass.

You really think they are going to leave it unfinished? They probably saw that 2014 was pretty alright but needed to find a way to bring over the game in some way (which is what they are doing with Ace), so in the meantime they probably did translate everything. Which isn't much in comparison to many other games (songs and artists mostly, everything else is pretty much the same as past DDR games).Like, yeah, it's a location test. That's probably why things weren't 100% finished. Testing the waters and whatnot. They won't just leave a few songs untranslated but others are. That'd be inconsistent and ridiculous.

I expect at the very least that they'll translate all of the song titles into romaji (there's probably some that don't translate that well and basically require cultural guessing to figure out), but honestly, for a big international push, they'll probably go the whole way.
Anyways, I'm excited - I hear DDR is arriving very soon!

"A big international push" is not a below triple-digit machine count in one country, I'm sorry.

I doubt they'd fully translate song titles. They very rarely did before.

DDR X2 had a full release and was actually promoted all within the US by KONAMI of America, DDR A's release has had zero promotion from KoA.
