The problem I have with it is because of VICE's history, I know they'll either have an educated or slanted view of Japanese rhythm games and knowing their past attempts at understanding Japanese Culture, I am skeptical. But others thing pop up from this sudden sponsorship.

1. Why VICE is interested in BEMANI after many other video game sources have failed to give reliable information about the company
2. Why this game when SDVX/Rayark/CHUNITHM are doing much better in the japanese rhythm game market
3. Why now?

It's not just a sponsorship without reason. It has purpose. Ultimately, I believe that purpose is to make money. I want to see how this develops before I can fully invoke if this is a good thing or a bad thing. Hopefully it's the former.

Looks like VICE is sponsoring a tournament/event on June 29th at Akhibara Leisureland. Specifically says "Anyone OK to participate"

Probably to record for footage for a documentary or something.

I don't mean to be that guy (nobody does, from what I gather), but what is VICE? I've never heard of it, and like the comment on the previous page, I can't read Japanese.

The only thing I know about VICE is that they now have something related to DDR (and even that's just seeing that it's on that thread. Well, that and the words "DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION" are a bit of a hint).

It looks like they're a news group that has historically skewed news for dramatic effect, often to end with a negative vibe? Guessing, in part based off of Cowtao's thoughts.

If it's the same group as all these other results, yeah, what on earth could they want with DDR or its community? I can't think of anything investigation-worthy about it. It rakes in money from people, but so does a gym membership, and you get fit either way.

I would just laugh if they're looking for some crazy, scandalous story and wind up with zero material to make it negative. Who knows, we could get an "enlightening documentary," whatever that entails.

Vice, I used to like them, mostly because they had a lot of documentaries and they went straight to the point, also were very interesting. I lost all my respect to them personally because a series of videos they made. Anyways, Idk why the interest in DDR, maybe criticize or talk bullshit about it, I don't really know.

All Round 1's in the US will be getting DDR Ace in July.

DDR will always be there as it is already part of the Japanese Culture and us DDR Fanatics. I have to admit, I'm still a DDR Fanatic at the age of 34. I've started way back when DDR 1st Mix came out in the Arcades. ( ^^ , )

Did anyone go to / know what happened at this event?

Let's hope the song list will be different like DDRMAX2 CS USA for example...I hope this one is localized or not.

I would actually appreciate it if they added some American licences, even if they have to remove some Japanese ones. It could definitely get more attention.
