I really like the LTR remix. Sounds better than I expected. Our Soul sounds like Rising Fire Hawk, which I have no problem with.

oh no

Admittedly I haven’t heard the others yet, but I do like Long Train Runnin’, even if the announcement of a Dynasty Warriors guy getting involved made me expect something more rockier.

EDIT: wtf F4SH10N is a banger, what you talking about, son

Movin' Too Fast in Unleashed 3 is a Garage song and it doesn't sound like Trap Nation, NCS, and Spinnin' Records music.

Eeeey I have the album this one's on~
Good shit, good shit. Get All About The Straglers by Artful Dodger.

Anyways I keep talking about F4SH1ON, but I've had Long Train Runnin on loop. Hope the rest of the 20th Anniversary songs keep up the quality. Like Carne Asada's vocals are fine, but I can't say they do the original songs justice... Long Train's vocalist is actually GOOD.

You literally said there was too much dubstep/trap a few pages back while proclaiming you want more techno, trance and eurobeat instead. This was in response to Cartoon Heroes.

I think you just have bad and misinformed opinions. Especially if you are trashing on entire labels that all have multiple genres. Hell, hating on Trap Nation for having trap music only is already kind of a weird thing to do, but I also found funk/glitch hop on it in a matter of minutes of finding their YouTube channel.

You are fine to dislike certain genres, but don't keep hating on A20 trying to actually have variety. You don't have to play every song.

That is not what I'm trying to say, I'm trying to say most EDM music nowadays don't have a style and they sound the exact same, and before you bring Naoki up saying Oh his MuSic SOuNds ThE SamE tO, at least he had a style and that's only one artist, most EDM artists nowadays don't have a style and they just copy each other using the same generic sounds over and over and sometimes it sounds good, sometimes it sounds repetitive.

The music from those labels just doesn't sound like Techno or Trance, modern Techno and Trance doesn't sound like real Techno and Trance, like I said, I'm not a fan of this generation of music and wish we can go to the early 2000s, but I know that can't happen, music will sound the same in a couple years, but I'm not sure if we can go back to the 2000s or have something that sounds 2000s.

Also I don't hate the entire song list of A20, This Beat Is... is actually a good track.
I hope this flame war can end and you can go back to liking your music, while I can go back and like my music.
I'm not actually an Oshawott. I just like the Pokemon. Happy

I tried and played the new songs on pad via StepMania cab and they are all fun to play. I like F4SH1ON and RTRW the most, step-wise.

I agree with you when you say that too much EDM sounds the same because so many artists follow the same formula. That being said, I personally like the EDM formula and even though I would like the see DDR have music in the style of older mixes, I absolutely love the direction Ace went in with the song list.

How dare you say that, My Generation is a great Captain Jack song, rest in peace. /s

I like all the new songs, but different strokes for different folks etc

I understand how people can get frustrated with the EDM, even though it's a large genre. But I think DDR is developing its own unique sound these days, and it fits the game well. (at least it's not learning heavily toward dubstep like how DDR A was for a while)
Check out my simfiles:

Eyy just wait 'till we get a Virtual Self license like we did in IIDX if you want new "old" stuff~ (Still surprised we didn't get his tracks in DDR instead...

But as long as new songs have some old skool elements, like, at all, I want to support that kind of progression~ I lost interest in DDR around SN2, and A20 is KICKING ASS in my eyes.

Nu-Skool Garage (my SHIT) like This Beat Is... and F4SH1ON,
Seta Para Cima bringing in some damn good Latin groove again,
AMAZING D'n'B tracks like Dead Heat and Helios,
Long Train Runnin' with an actually good English vocalist and disco guitar,
Every hardcore song's a fuckin ANTHEM
and Get On The Floor and the 50th BEMANI History kicking nostalgia right in my guts.

Like I know there's no old-skool trance yet, but there's a lot of y2k vibes oozing from the current lineup. Dunno how you don't hear it. lol

EDIT: Forgot, even the new Vocaloid tracks they picked are bangers and like.... old at this point. Like Tiger Rampage? Haven't even thought of it since 2014.

something neat has been done to the here we go font between now and the game's release, the initial version used DDR A's font but recently it has been changed to fit in with the READY font which is different from A's

“Naoki had a style” is such an amazing take because like, yes it’s true, no it’s not exactly a compliment given how boring/generic/cookie cutter/repetitive all his songs were to the point that only the charts themselves made it possible to differentiate any of them apart

The worst part of going through the older mix folders was having to listen to naoki jizz on a synthesizer for the 50 millionth time that’s all I know

NAOKI's style largely consisted of rushed arrangements of the same template because he was given so much work to do and so little time to carry it out. His "signature sound" started to really blur together 4th Mix to SN, so much so that when other musicians came in to arrange his works in later mixes their versions seemed to adhere to NAOKI's bland soundbank that was exhausted and sounded hackneyed back in 2003. Gotta Dance would not be out of place in 5th Mix. And don't get me wrong, I am hesitant to undersell the immense amount of work NAOKI did for the series and how he basically soundtracked the games for several years, but the man only had so many ideas. The first time I heard INSERTiON and ECSTASY I could scarcely tell them apart. They have the exact same note progressions. It is so blatant that those two tracks started out as the same composition. Say what you will about the man, but he was quite the sonic economist.
At any rate, complaining that all modern EDM sounds the same and then promptly praising NAOKI for having a "style" is a really efficient way to flatten any credibility you previously possessed. I think it is plainly clear that NAOKI tried putting more craft into his work and generally tried harder than the average Zedd or Martin Garrix, but labeling rushed work as a "style" seems like nostalgic revisionist history.

Right Time Right Way is a banger and probably my favourite of the bunch tbh.

In terms of the current discussions with NAOKI, honestly I'm one of the people that really liked his music in DDR (under his NAOKI title, not his other titles) and it is true that he certainly had a distinct style that he used for all his songs. But since I liked his style a lot anyway I was okay with it.

i'd disagree a little bit since naoki's sound has gotten progressively more trance-like as time went on, even on works done solely by himself in later years; but yes naoki's more cheaper sound is indeed charming but it's still cheap regardless and it's not that much of an style

"five minute white boy challenge"
Later Naoki had a "sound" in the same way fuckin' 2013/2014 TAG had a "sound".

There's having a distinct sound and then there's just making the same song over and over.

Approximately nobody asked for this song to be included. Least popular decision by the Japanese since Nintendo released the Wii U.

I still feel, all these years later, that prior to 5thMIX, Naoki at least attempted to add his own unique spins on even similar sounding songs, since he was near LITERALLY the only in-house composer for the arcade series for near a decade.

Then 5th Mix happened, and here comes generic trance, BeForU, even more Paula Terry, rehashes of songs that aren't nearly as good (Secret Rendevous is nothing compared to Baby Baby Gimme Your Love), and ballads. When he got together with jun to make TERRA...yeah, that was it for me.

Occasionally he did a song I liked when unleashed from jun (Arrabiata, Sakura, Paranoia Survivor Max, Prelude, Ignition Break), but for the most part he fell into a really bland routine. I have VERY similar feelings towards TAG when he took as sound director from X2 to 2014.

Being a sound director in BEMANI is suffering.

I don't think Yoshitaka deserved the hate as much as the community crapped on him in retrospect, though. Especially not compared to say Ryu, who was at his absolute lowest musical point at the time. I could just type Dazzlin' Darlin and rest my case.
