Good to see at least one of the several thousand fan remixes of MAX 300 finally made it to an official arcade release. Would have personally gone with 1, 2, 3, 4, MAX300 but this is fine too.

I respectfully disagree. While I wouldn't necessarily call for lvl 20 for either Prey or MAX 360 (for example), that extra challenge does make those songs stand out more, especially as true boss songs. Hell, when I listen to them I hear that there is room for something beyond what the chart gives us.

And would no one really play the charts anyway? I beg to differ on that part. Even if we're not on Iamchris4life-level, I'm pretty certain that those charts still get played a lot among those of us who have the songs in question on our Stepmanias. Either that, or one creates a chart on their own to compensate.

That's just my stance on it, though

See, the thing is, these songs are made for DDR A, to be played on pad, not stepmania. If you want a 19 or 20, go make your own with the editor or download someones simfiles.
DDR A has added more songs on each difficulty in the 14-18 range than any other DDR game. We've gotten 2 15s, 6 14s, and now 3 18s, something that has been very rare over the years. It's clear that they're working on increasing difficulty, but not every boss song nees a 19 or 20. Like mokou said, very few people could clear it, and those of us that can don't particularly want to. A majority of the people that want more 19s and 20s in the official games would end up playing the lower difficulties anyway.

Ok, now that I've stopped freaking out, I'll give my opinion on this.

I'm just extremely neutral about a 20 chart.
Like, sure, a chart does make a song more...special, and I can confirm that I really like playing Lvl. 18-19 songs on Stepmania, but...

I fear that a 19 or 20 for this would just feel forced and wouldn't be fun to play at all. (Plus, if I ever get to play a 20, it's gonna be on keyboard. There's no way I'm ever gonna do something like that on foot.)

Anyway, I think the 20's gonna happen someday.
But I'm not sure that someday should be now.

I can't even clear 18s consistently. So my opinion on whether or not we should have a 20 is pretty easy to ignore tbh

It's not like anyone in the UK is going to fucking play it.

Max 360 might not be the 20 we've been waiting for. I mean yeah that's incredibly difficult, but why would they release the big bomb early when there's more to come? During the big events, they release "easy stuff" before releasing the "hardcore stuff." MAX 360 looks more like a sign of things to come and seems to be Konami's new devilish chart (get it, 888 is Japan's number of the devil)

Plus I think Prey should not have a challenge chart. Although I can't exactly disagree against a non-gimmicky 19 chart, and would love to see how tough it would be.

And I play Stepmania on my phone, does anyone else do that or am I the odd one?

There' gonna be NO 20 this game, for any of these songs, so people can just let the fuck go on that matter. It's already been clearly explained why, beyond KONAMI straight out stating they have no plans for a 20, and that's because no one will play it, and there aren't enough players to play it. There is only double digits of players who could possibly play a 19, let alone a 20,, and even less to pass it. The only real reasonable 19 made to this date is EGOISM 440, with ENDYMION a close second.

Now, in regards to MAX 360 or Prey getting a 19...Prey not so likely as it has nothing the chart already does well enough to add difficulty, without going absurd, and using ridiculous gimics. Plus that would most likely mean they would have ot do a AfA styled chart for and make the BPM different for it alone. MAX 360 however...I'm getting the impression they went a little reserved...and honestly, it's a MAX song. It should have one by principle. But I won't be surprised if it doesn't get one.

(tl;dr: No, no 20's can reasonably happen, and if a chart is to happen to any song, it's MAX 360.)

I think MAX 360's charts are fine as is, but I'm really curious about what a challenge chart for it would look like. Not saying it needs one, but a song with 888 notes in the expert chart seems like it'd make for an interesting challenge chart.
