What song do you think of when you think of the X to X3 era? I honestly think of DDR X2 and POSSESSION.

SABER WING, Valkyrie dimension, the whole EVOLVED series? I think that there were many more things more memorable from the X-X3 games than POSSESSION.

Song itself is pretty meh, chart is ok -- the Singles Difficult is quite nice.

The thing was, given, if nothing else, the DDR selections thing even used the X2 interface - I would've expected an X2 remix, as people tend to forget about X, and X3's most iconic stuff was from console releases. Plus, X2 was most people's favourite mix from the X-series (I personally agree with this).

Once you're locked in to X2, Replicant D-action was absolutely the most famous thing to come out of X2, so almost inevitably it was going to be a RDA remix.

Of course, that doesn't answer why specifically POSSESSION, but it nails the song choice down to four songs, if they wanted an actually difficult one: Anti-Matter, New Decade, POSSESSION, and of course, Valkyrie Dimension.

Orbit1 and Milo have done precisely nothing since Anti-Matter (as far as DDR goes), so I'd say that decreases the chances that Anti-Matter got a remix (and I REALLY want one, but I'm saying it doesn't seem likely).

POSSESSION remixed by Sota Fujimori, the guy who did New Decade (and in the style of New Century, the pretty obvious sequel song to New Decade) is about as close as you can get to nailing TWO of the most iconic and lasting boss songs of X2. EDIT: It would've been just as well if we got New Decade remixed by TAG.

As for why not Valkyrie Dimension? Well, to be honest, I don't have a good reason for that. Maybe it's because everyone hated it? (Mostly owing to how stupid A: the ending was and B: the challenge chart was)

I guess I'm on the island with not being terribly impressed by this remix. It's certainly more of a remix than the EDP Live version, but not by much. Slapping Sota's sound template and his keysounds onto POSSESSION's progression and patterns isn't exactly much of a re-imagining. The fact that the triplet jumps are still in there is a testament to how lazy the remix is. I think the original POSSESSION is really boring in its arrangement (TAG could use some serious work with how he arranges his compositions) and I think Sota could have really done something with this work. Because I have faith in Sota and enjoy most of his work, I am partial to thinking that he originally made a moderate departure from the original and Konami strongarmed him into making something closer to the template set by TAG. If this were a regular addition, I wouldn't mind how pedestrian the track is, but since it's part of the 20th anniversary and that fact is even invoked in the subtitle, it's really underwhelming.

Instead, it's just New Century layered over Possession.

Funnily enough, most of Sota's stuff in DDR A have been my least played. Looks like that trend is continuing.

I guess the singles Expert chart is alright in some places but a lot of it feels really off or awkward. Like it was being forced to either New Century or Possession in the most odd spots.

So far, Show Me Your Moves > New POSSESSION, and this is coming from someone who absolutely loves Possession and thought it was the best choice of song to remix.

I can't wait for Max 301 personally.

I want good-cool's songs to come back. There's no reason for them to be removed.

It's a decent song with MOSTLY a good chart. Not a fan of all the BPM switches, but I'll take a 6/10 over garbage. I didn't even LIKE New Century and I still dig this remix, so... I don't know what to say about that.

Thinking out loud, maybe they should have titled it something like Possession+New Century (Sota DJ Mix) kinda like PRANA+REVOLUTIONARY ADDICT (U1 DJ Mix) so people wouldn't be as disappointed.

I just listened to the new Possession (New Century Remix) and saw the chart.

The song is fine. It's good. However I dislike the ESP. It's extremely lacking because it feels like it tries too hard to follow the original Possession chart, which would be fine if it makes sense with the song itself. But in the end, the slowdowns and steps feels extremely out of place.

The biggest offenders are the first slowdown (which was not necessary at all), and the 12ths during the jump sections, because a lot of them go to nothing, and missed rhythms it should have followed instead. However, the stops were fine I guess, at least the best they can do with their own charting philosophy and limited to what DDR has. Everything else definitely breaks the flow for me.

Basically, I'm alright with the song, but disappointed with the chart.

The new Possession slaps and the difficult chart is veeeeery nice. I've always felt that Possession was one of the more iconic tracks from the X-era (mostly due to the jumpjumpjump jumpjumpjump jumpjumpjumpjumpjumpjump).


Flow was one of my favorite SN-era songs, but it already has 3 versions in the game.
