Sooo, I don't know if Kyle meant to do this and is starting to vaguely show off the gameplay itself or not, but I've been making screencaps whenever the stream shows off the direct feed from the machine in some way. The only problem is that it is confined to a small square on very specific angles. I got pics of the gameplay, and one of the song select screen:
save the images to your desktop for full resolution!

If I am able to screencap the results screen before the stream is over, I'll add that too! If not, then I'll say that from the limited looks of it, the grading system is identical to ITG's, though the judgments are closer to ReRave's.
Also, judging from seeing the screen a tad better, the interface is entirely controlled with a touchscreen and no physical buttons. That's a no-brainer, since this is using the same cabinets as ReRave's, but with some adjustments made to accommodate a DDR-esque game.

How is this really "new" if you're just adding a center panel?

Not sure; maybe it's his way of avoiding any conflicts with Konami's famous lawsuits?
I know that in a previous stream, Kyle mentions that he wants the pads to be "open-source", meaning that you could retrofit these into any dance games, including old PIU/DDR machines; they will work perfectly fine, with the only difference being that the lights won't be multicolor like it will be in "ReGroove" (I'm calling it that until we get an official name for this). He also mentioned that he wants to make versions of the pads for PIU/TechnoMotion-style games as well, which explains why we see those extra arrows in the first teaser almost a year ago. I think he mentioned having the pads be made for home use as well as for arcades too, which would be amazing.
UPDATE:
Was able to get a screencap of one part of the modifiers screen!

You have this, and other "pages" where you can see noteskins/scroll speeds, and the one you see above among other things.
UPDATE 2: Finally got a chance to screencap the results screen!

I'm more interested in it for the pads than anything else, but I dig it.

Might as well help narrow down the actual screens. Note that the right side of the screen was cropped off in the stream.

So yeah, things we can discern:
-Judgement font is very ITG-esque.
-I heard through the grapevine that some PIU licenses were being planned for RERAVE. I can see that some existing RERAVE licenses (namely Lights Go Down / Less Affair) are coming over and there's a song with jacket of a skateboarder suspiciously close to the "L"s...could they be doing an in-joke and that's Mexi Mexi / Mozquito? If so, hype!
-Noteskin colors and style are most reminiscent of ITG's Cel. Looks like the mines are some sort of hexagon with banded flashy things.
-Speed appears to be like M-mods (from what I can tell, this game is built on SM5): you can see in the Options Menu it says "Speed 2[# I can't tell]5", and the other options are "Effects", "Scroll[???]", "[????] Modifiers", and something I can't read for scratch.
-Scoring system might be based around a maximum of 100,000, or it could be a PIU type thing. Stars clearly inflated from ITG, since 97.xx% nabs 4 stars when that was the 100% score in the past. Ratings appear to be "PERFECT!!" (a.k.a. Flashing perfect, ala IIDX), "PERFECT", "EARLY", "LATE", and "MISS". Wild difficulty from RERAVE Arcade is back, though might be an unlockable/not for all songs. There are also these conditional things on the left: maybe they're for holds or rolls or something? I don't know how you'd get some middle judgement in between "check" and "X". There's also QR codes, I imagine to be able to either send scores to the leaderboards or to send them to social media.

The only thing I don't like is the score inflation. Now when people are like "oh I got a tri star" we won't know whether it's a 99% or a 96% or whatever. The change wasn't necessary.

It could be that they're also taking that from RERAVE, where the timing is far more strict (relying on both placement and timing), so the percentages are lower for performances mostly on par with their ITG grade counterparts, if that makes sense at all.

A bit WILD to think that this project has taken us over 2 years (between custom hardware and software) and next month people will get a chance to try it and finally KNOW the name of it! :-)
Five (imaginary) bucks says it will be called "ReGroove". ;)

It uses a touch-screen for its interface, by the way.
Sounds like a really bad idea for a dance game.

I'm honestly not sure what to think of with a title like "Step ManiaX". I still think "ReGroove" would've been a better title, but at least no one predicted this one! XD
Oh, and the corner panels now have metal plating on them; not sure how the lightshow on them are gonna look compared to the plexiglass-looking ones we're used to in the streams, but I imagine they made that change so it would be more durable and be better protected from the little cretins who stomp on the pads as hard as they can and don't actually play the game? ;)
Lastly, I'm curious to see how IC Card support is gonna be handled, if there is any; from the looks of the machine, I'm not thinking there will be actual cards, but you could activate it via an app on your smartphone?
I'm pretty sure this might not be the final design (the machine design in general looks a tad unfinished if it is.) .

I can't believe Xepher is in this game

I can't tell what the difficulty scale is supposed to be at all, and no BPM at all during song selection? I'm not sure what's going on here.
