Thinking back on old ratings are always funny. Sunkiss Drop was a 7. Orion was a 9. Both are 12s now.

I kind of wished that the Xbox series of DDR games were given an itunes OST treatment for the KONAMI Originals and Remixes presented in those games. If they were able to make an itunes OST for the NA SuperNOVA2 CS game, why not for the other oversea DDR game series? Actually, I'm still in awe that SuperNOVA2 CS even got it's own OST based on the US version of the game.

I'm hoping that a physical OST is in the works for DDRA.

"Pancakes!"
I doubt a physical OST will exist of it. Probably not a high demand for it like the other things.

Unless they pull a Pop'n and have like a 20th Anniversary Collection album. That would be incredibly good to do.

did someone say DANCE WARS over a week ago

Hi, I logged in to say Michael never died in my heart. Please bring him back with the dumbest of plotlines and some form of co-op. :c The thing that sucked the most garbage (after the timing bug was fixed...) was the unlock system. It's cute to be competitive, but it was so easy for people to hoard tickets and prevent people from unlocking anything just because they couldn't pick the song you locked your tickets behind. Like... let people play the song they don't have yet in unlock mode, or something that doesn't make it borderline impossible. Or give people a limit on the same ticket they can steal... without trading them, there's zero point in having multiple of the same ticket besides being a jerk. :/

but please bring back Michael, thanks.

Actually, bring back any story mode and I'll eat it up. Any dancer fodder from Dice Master quotes to character profiles. Just... not Catherine.

It was cute that they tried to give Michael a plotline with the Bingo event, but I can't say he ever fit well. Recall how the UFO event ignored him entirely in favor of staples Emi and Disco, while the big bonus cosmetic unlocks were being given to Rinon, who has proven to be the more usable and interesting character, what with her unique design, ambiguous motives, and her powers that can rise to the stakes of, say, combating a death-star esque meteor. Michael was, in my opinion, rather milquetoast. While a lot of people pointed out the similarities to My World-era Justin Bieber, if you lack that context, what does Michael have? His name is literally one of the most generic of American English, his clothes combo (black shirt + white coat + jeans + black leather boots) didn't exactly stand out that much, and his face was uncannily trying to be realistic and the hair was just a bowl cut but without the 60s connotations. The Bingo event also didn't really characterize him: it was more about what the other characters were doing for him.

just jumpin back into DDR. Haven't played consistently for over a decade, but recently came across an Ace machine and got excited. Looks like they are still hard to come by though. I met a couple nice dudes who showed me how the Ace machine works. I hope DDR makes a comeback.

I'm not saying we should put Michael on the same tier as Rinon who has tons of room for a fascinating plotline. Honestly, I would more prefer them to delve into the current era and tie together what we already have going between Rinon and Dark Rinon, but this time pull the other characters in there so it's all cohesive. It sounds ridiculous, but I want to see something where the dancers all contribute in some... power of music and rhythm sort of way.

The Bingo event broke my heart... as much as it could for a fictional character that everyone said looked like Justin Bieber at the time, which isn't saying much ^^; I didn't care for him until the Bingo event centered around welcoming him into the group. That sort of little bonding plotline sucked me in as a shipper. As I began to think of how nice it was to have this new friend that these characters all got along with and who I could imagine him having a crush on they drop the game like a hot rock ;-: What kind of welcoming party is that?! That's practically a tragedy. If he were just in the background on occasion and not completely forgotten, I'd be less disappointed.

I remember working on a DDR STR!KE FAQ on this site. Unfortunately, I don't know if I'll ever be able to properly complete it. But I just wanted to make it known how much I love this game and if there's any JP CS title I recommend you seek out, it's that.

I’m probably alone on this one but I’ve always, and still do have a deep fondness for the CLUB VERSiON installments. While I’ve never had the chance to play on the official cabinets of them or play the CS versions, DDR EXTREME was my introduction to those games and their song lists through the revivals, as well as making me aware of what the music was like in early beatmania/IIDX games (which I still thoroughly enjoy). KONAMIX and MAX US CS continued the introduction, then I found out about Stepmania and got to experience all of the songs. Sure, the stepcharts weren’t anything special, but I remember how unique the collection of music was to me; various interpretations on familiar genres with sounds that were unknown to me at the time...plus the classic 20,November. I felt like the CLUB VERSiON setup helped inspire the trend of BEMANI crossovers into DDR. Considering how they were the first installments to feature a link system with another BEMANI series, the wide range of genres for a DDR game (at the time), and the way they stand out against other songs in DDR games that they were revived in (not to mention the exclusivity of certain songs put on non-JP releases), CLUB VERSiON 1 & 2 have this “hidden, experimental gem” aspect and charm to me, and it’s something I really appreciate.
I remember when X3 was announced some people mentioned the idea of X3 being able to connect with IIDX Lincle since their themes were kind of similar. Though that never happened, I'd still like to see a Club Version game, having a DJ and a Dancer play together was a really neat idea (not to mention the big amount of songs that the game had)

Especially with the wealth of music that IIDX has now. While the Link functionality was a novel idea at the time, someone's idea of going to the club was not dancing to somber songs like 5.1.1, Melt In My Arms or stuff like Gradiusic Cyber. This is just my opinion, plz no flame.

Thank you so much, Lord Toon!

Do tell, what are some of your favorite small things in DDR tunes?

I meant, they're not necessarily in the songs in a musical sense, but i always think it's cool as fuck when a chart will have a callback/reference to an older one. Like how Paranoia Revolution Challenge pulls from the original Paranoia during the slowdown, or how Trip Machine Evolution Challenge' s entire first section is pulled from SP-Trip Machine

So I see that the DDRCommunity Tier List is making the rounds on social media again.

What are you guys' thoughts on it? Are there any songs that you feel should be moved up or down? Completely re-rated?

What songs do you want crossed over into DDR? I really want to see Remedy from IIDX and Rampage Rag (though I have the dread of this one having a very questionable chart)

Ever since DANCERUSH came out, I've wanted Small Steps in DDR. Another more obscure crossover I want is Jazz Is Rad from jubeat.

Still waiting on our Ace cab in Nashville to get it's monitor replaced; it's been out for 3 weeks now. Supposedly the replacement may come in and get fixed tomorrow, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
I go there pretty regularly and I feel far behind. I haven't gotten a chance to play Vanquish the Ghost yet not really longing to play it tbh

I want to see Slluuddggee, Violently Car, and Sol Cosine Job 2 for the BPM changes.

Other choices I'd like are 東京神話, Brogamer, Hades, and Hatcha Metcha Party.

I don't like it but mostly because the rating scale on DDR can mean anything once you hit 14s and up. It's more of a guideline than anything solid.

Also the doubles listings are out of control lmao.
