I love all of the charts, especially Prey's Expert chart.

Can people please stop saying that it needs a challenge chart, though? Honestly I think it's amazing that this is the first Expert 18 with no gimmicks whatsoever. I love how this song is straightforward with its difficulty, showing that you don't need stops or crazy speed changes to make a hard chart, or ridiculous and disgusting crossovers. Prey has distinction. If it doesn't get a challenge chart it makes it even more unique honestly.

This could also mean that hard charts on normal (non EXTRA EXCLUSIVE) songs could be more common. I'm psyched about this.

I'm not against the people who want (and need) a Challenge chart. But for now, let's enjoy the fact that this 18 is not as bad as we thought.

I don't see anyone saying that it NEEDS a challenge chart.

I'm just saying that because people are already jumping to the conclusion that a challenge 19 is imminent, and not just on here but also on YouTube videos of lineouts.

They are just going off the notion that every Expert 18 has a Challenge 19.

Which is pretty bad thinking considering DDR A has already proven there are no set guidelines or expectations like that so...

Looks like very few Extra Savior songs have ever received charts.

Prey doesn't need a 19.

The only songs to receive Challenge charts that didn't get them immediately are licenses, the two songs that got a video added to them, and the Extra Exclusives (which one can debate if they were already in the game but just inaccessible, if Neutrino's "leak" was any indication.). Otherwise, if it had a Challenge, it was available from when the song was available.

So I'm not sure why there is ever hope for Challenge charts outside of that, especially for a song with 18s that is part of a summer event.

anyone hoping for a new 19 or thinking we'll get a new 19 should look at all the 19s we have and wonder if more of those are a good idea. If by some miracle a new 19 were good, that's fantastic, but I seriously doubt it.

A cleaned up version of Egoism 440 would make for a decent 19. Just a bit of pattern rearrangement to get rid of the stupid doublesteps and ambiguity all over the place and you have a 19 people wouldn't dread attempting.

Also, Puberty Dysthemia DDP is a fantastic chart. Definitely one of my favorites from what I've played so far. The EDP is a much different beast than the ESP though. Completely unexpected.

IX is probably the closest thing we will ever have to a "gimmick free 19“ and it's not even a 19.

Then go play ITG 14's? Like i'm not disagreeing that the 19's are mostly dumpster fires, but Konami's 19 charts are never going to be like ITG 14's.


The same could be said about Possession Oni Doubles or Valkyrie Dimension Oni Doubles but i don't see anyone disputing either song's 19 rating.

I mean in terms of how hard they are - obviously they won't be the same beast, (if only because many, *many* charts in the 14+ range are stamina charts that last 5+ minutes) but god damn could Konami make non-dumpster fires at this difficulty level

It mostly offends me personally because DDR is so far consistently the only rhythm game where the hardest used difficulties are just automatically garbage. If IIDX 12's/SDVX 19+/ITG 14+/literally any other rhythm game can be fantastic charts, why not DDR 19s? I want to see this game get as much charting love as IIDX gets, thanks.

It pains me because I actually want to push my physical limits with this game but most harder charts don't really facilitate it without being a horrendous chore to actually play
