It's sick af, barely feels like Tag at all

Yea I get that as well. I won't lie, I have acted that way as well to an adult who was goofing off like the way you described, and from it I lashed out. At first I felt justified, like of course I got mad at a person who was blatantly bullying a stranger, who was me. But a few weeks or a month went by and I saw a person in an exact scenario I was in, and acted just as I did before. Except, I thought they both were out of line. (note that I completely forgot what happened to me when I thought this until later on in the day.) Of course, the guy acting stupid was, well… stupid. But the guy who yelled at him looked like he was childish for acting that way, and I put him down the same way I did to the childish adult. Now I of course understand why the guy playing felt that way, but I made that thought that “He should have acted better.” At the same time I thought to myself, why couldn’t I have acted better myself before. I mean we’re all human, of course, but something I want to point out from this little storytime is even though they were acting childish, we ourselves can look just as bad as them from the way we act. And I’ve had these thoughts going forward if I was in a situation like this again, and spoiler alert, lol yea I was in that situation again.

Now the same act happened to me another time. I’m playing a song that had my legs moving fast, and an adult was mocking me. However, instead of lashing out like I did before, I kept in mind how I perceived that guy playing from that day, and how I will be perceived if I didn't change myself. And It’ll sound crazy, but I treated him nicely.

Now, the way I feel may not be how anyone reading this will feel, but there’s a big difference in how people will act if you treat them nicely when they’re being mean to you, vs going down on their level and feeding fire.

So back to the story. I controlled myself and smiled. Genuinely smiled. I had forced myself to think that, “He’s just having fun with his friends,” or, “lol that’s true, I do look like that.” All i’m doing is changing my perception of how I’m seeing the situation. So again I smiled, and he actually complimented myself for being really good at the game. (Now I’m not saying all people will say this, or even act like this, but bear with me). I’m trying to act with kindness and offered to him, “Hey did you wanna play after me?” He said no because he was nervous and shy, but the most important point is:

He did not mock me again after making a genuinely kind gesture.

Let’s put it this way, a guy, lets name him, idk Rage hehe, who is just mocked the was we play ddr or anything, he may feel like he is on top of the pyramid of confidence. Now there is us, and we could act in 2 different ways.

Person A: loses his temper from getting bullied and starts to argue against the Rage.
Person B: laughs with him, and is genuinely kind and understanding about the situation that was against him. Even offers Rage to play after.

I won't lie, person A is an easy target to make Rage feel even more confident. He’s able to eat off of Person A because he feels offended and is defending himself, making Rage feel empowered over the “nerdy dude that obsesses over an arcade game” and blabla I can continue.

Person B, however, It’ll be pretty hard to hate on a person that gives off the impression of being a nice guy/girl. And at the same time, Rage is put in check subconsciously because he was just a nice person. In this standpoint, it’ll be hard for Rage to continue being mean to person B without himself looking like a douchebag himself.

Every future scenario after this I acted as Person B again, and wasn’t ever really mocked.

I'm not saying we should all just turn into Person B and be happy go luckies. Each scenario is different for every player, and I can't guarantee that a person like Rage won't continue mocking you. But I will say that just calming down, assessing the situation, and acting accordingly really helped my experiences playing in the arcade in general.

I guess I don't really know how to end this long ass post, but I do want to keep discussing this. It can really help both with just the way we feel from being in the situation, and how the rhythm game community could look to the general casual audience (It's a stretch but i kinda believe it).

I'm not sure if you've read this already, but the submission of lyrics for the DDR Memorial Song Contest just ended yesterday, August 15, and they'll start the music production very soon.

My guess is September 26th. September 28th is the 20th Anniversary of DDR.

Also I highly doubt they are going to have a complete song created in two weeks. It sounds like they don't even have the song started (which makes sense).

They also never said those two songs will be added on the 31st. They just said the deadline for the follower count is then. It might be the week after that.

For fuck sake, DDRA. Cut it out with having Extra Exclusive songs that sound cool for about 30 seconds then having a fucking awful dubstep breakdown and halving the BPM. This is such fucking Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V bullshit. Fuck this song.

Gonna have to agree with that first wub wub halved BPM section kind of ruining the song for me, if I wanted that kind of thing I'd go to Monkey Business which is almost identical to that part of Vanquish the Ghost. The beginning and ending parts still sound good though and the chart is fine overall.

I guess this is Konami's response to people's complaints regarding 18s and 19s being too gimmicky. Just making a shitload of 14s-16s extra gimmicky as well.

In fact, I believe every EE since A4A has had some sort of speed gimmick or wonky stop.

Gotta waste those credits somehow, jack.

You are entitled to your opinion that the song is bad. That's you're right. Personally, I disagree, I think it's pretty original as far as TAG songs go and gives me possession vibes while being still very different. They did a great job with the stepchart, which flows well and is a tough 15.

As for my opinion on this song, I definitely prefer this over the standard stuff TAG has put out for years. It still has TAG vibe, but it's certainly different from what I initially expected.

I love the general shift to EDM/dubstep and all that, but I do miss the Naoki/Jun days...

In Between has a single weird to time stop at 99 steps and Love you more has 2 of them. It's nothing too ridiculous like Vanquish the Ghost, but I definitely got tripped up on In Between when it first dropped.


Speaking of VtG, I fucking love it. It sounds great. It plays great. It's just great. The 2 idol songs are fucking bangers too. Sun Summer Step sounds a lot like Madoka's opening and Smiling Passion is so energetic!!
