I don't get why people are up in arms about that tweet.
If there is a new DDR game, they can't just be open about it on social media or anything. Marketing probably has control over how that information can be spread and when, not someone who runs the social media outlets. If they are one and the same, that still doesn't mean they are able to.
Higher ups could actually be telling marketing to not talk about DDR and push Dance Rush at this time. There could be an NDA regarding DDR as well. They might already have a plan for how they announce it and when to do it.
It's not as easy as simply stating there is another one going to happen.

But leave it to everyone to instantly go into panic mode and assume the worst over out of context tweets yet again

You must admit, though, it is a very Konami thing to do to respond to calls to update an old game with "never mind that shit, it's dead, look at the shiny thing"

I think the heart of the issue is that Konami has tweeted about DDR more since this shitstorm than in the entirety of DDR Ace's life cycle combined.
It's still kind of a dumb thing to get up in arms about though.
DDR IS DEEEEEEEEEEEEEAD

Konami will likely respond by putting more Idolmaster songs in DDR A that won't be available in the US. See the game is still going strong!
I don't blame Konami for saying "Why not try this game instead?" It only makes sense to market your new game rather than advertising older ones. It would be like Nintendo marketing Melee in 2018. Yes people still play it but it would be better to market the newer game. I don't take this as Konami burying DDR but the future of the game might be in question.

Speaking of unavailable songs, I looked at songs that I've missed out on since coming back to DDR and my favorites, Brilliant 2U (akbk mix) and Paranoia(kskst mix) are not available on the US machines

Nothing has been said in regards to DDR's future though, good or bad.

This was so fucking absurd lmao.It was a list of Professional level requests that make no sense... Top 5 world? If theres 5 MFC's... your wasting UI space as opposed to machine top 5... people your likely to play with. Adding more 17+'s? 90% of the playerbase won't ever reach/touch those... outside of Edit support, most of the suggestions will actually kill DDR. Our cherishment of the PFC/MFC has ruined a franchise because once your play perfect, you can only do it again... and once a new version comes out, the entire western playerbase is gonna whine when the combo rings stay, but all your precious 1,000,000's are wiped. You already see questions every year when the new IIDX comes out about the fact scores are gone.

Yeah, it's confused me too. He said "this is how you fix DDR" and then lists a bunch of things that only advanced players would care about. I mean, I want 17+s and a better leaderboard system too, but Jesus. Bringing back pad lights isn't going to take us back to 2001.

Pad lights i can kind of see the benefit of when it comes to when the pads start having problems, because now any inept DnB's or Round One tech can just go into the menu, step on the arrow and see that it shows a response and be like "okay it's fine" when it's very obviously sticking or dropping arrows. I've had that happen at least once.

I don't know about that. When we have pad issues the techs here are more than willing to actually give us the benefit of the doubt if we say an issue keeps happening. Of course, it could just be me having good luck with that at our DnB, and I could easily see this being a problem with random arcades if they ever got it themselves.
But pad lights to attract new players and "revive DDR"? Come on. That's ridiculous.

I'd say you're pretty lucky. A lot of arcade techs don't care enough to actually try and fix the issue.

The only good thing pad lights did was knowing if the panels were broken before you played your set. They likely removed the pad lights to cut the cost of the already pricy cabinet. If you want to "revive DDR" make it so most players are able to actually play the newest versions. Having fans being able to play the game I think is way more important than a few flashy lights.

I mean PIU is pretty popular in Latin America. If DDR made its way there I'm sure it would catch on quick.

I mean, like I said, I do see the benefits of having pad lights, but not for the reason Chris seems to. I don't see how it's going to attract new players at all. Supernova 1 and 2 cabs being bright and colorful didn't really attract any more players than a regular Extreme cab would. If someone is interested in trying the game out, they're just going to do it regardless of what the cab looks like.
