The Second Florida Thread

Don't ever feel intimidated by the top tier players that go to this event, practically 80% of all the attendee's aren't high competition level either, most enter tournaments just to see how they fair against other players, as an example I enter the EXTREME Random Caprice tournament since it's both fun and it let's me know where I am in standings with other the other players that enter (with which we had over 55 people enter the EXTREME tournament). DDR Storm is labeled as the unofficial 'nationals' tournament, but for the most part the event is a huge weekend party for rhythm gamers, video gamers, and just about anyone really (we had random people who were staying at the hotel buy one day passes to check out the event lol)

Plus now that there are going to be even more space for more machines, you can just play rounds with friends, random people, etc. without having to wait for a tournament to end and whatnot.

This year there will be a ton of different tournaments and side tournaments available to enter, and it is NOT inclusive to just dance rhythm games.

Confirmed Dance Game tournaments are:
DDR 2013/2014
DDR Extreme Random Caprice
ITG Lower Division
ITG Upper Division
Pump It Up Prime

Side Tournaments confirmed so far are:
SSB Melee
SSB4
Amplitude (PS2)
Amplitude (PS4)

There may be more side tournaments happening, but we'll find out more information as the date gets closer.

Side note: I am trying to bring back the jubeat plus tournament that I held last year, hopefully it gets accepted so that we can have one again for this year.

That's good to know, yeah I'm still in like 11's/12's myself, but I don't use the bar. Haven't learned that yet.

I can go for the fun of it all, no worries. I do visit Tampa area pretty often, too, so I'll PM you next time I go for sure.

The SN2 machine at I-Drive NASCAR in Orlando finally died.

They replaced it with a 573 modded for ITG3/ITG Rebirth, but that one died very quickly.

They finally built a new computer for ITG3/ITG Rebirth, but the arcade techs forgot to install the card reader.

Going over again today to see if they brought the card reader. The machine is running, appears to have DDR songs installed, and has USB ports.

Oh yeah, they also have DJMAX Technika 3 now.

I apologize for this bump, but I have returned to this community after a major hiatus. After another lengthy college semester and some lost interest in the game, I decided to return to this amazing FL DDR/Bemani community. I see that D&B Orlando will be getting DDR Ace this summer, and I hope to show up to D&B by the time the game releases. To know that the west will finally be getting a new DDR game since X2 really hypes me up as well as other new releases (for other games) that have been occurring in recent months.

Even with the good news that we just got a new DDR game, I am now really out of shape and gotta fix this problem by playing some rhythm games. I hope to actually be able to AAA stuff (wow, what a scrub), and actually be more active here in Florida Rhythm Gaming and here on ZiV!

So how are things currently right now?

I'm likely moving to Tampa/Clearwater in the near future and won't be able to house my ITG cab; I may rent it to a local arcade if I get any interest

Orlando is a place.

CEO 2016 had jubeat and DDR/Pump this past weekend, but Megacon had no games whatsoever. There was the kors k and Ryu* afterparty that happened there though so hopefully that'll happen again next year. Well worth it.

Otherwise, the only place I know with active players on a regular basis in Orlando is at the D&B. Usually when I go (which is every Wednesday night pretty much) I'm the only one there but I've seen some regulars pop up every now and then. It's still maintained well and one of the techs definitely loves to keep the machine intact as best as possible, even for an X2 cab.

If you play singles on DDR and go to play at that D&B, play on the right side. The left side has issues with the down arrow at really random times. One song I got a AAA with one great on it and the next had two misses because the pad stuck.

Disney Quest is still open but the DDR is in terrible condition when I last went (a few months ago) and no more annual passes. I've heard many stories about it either shutting down completely, staying open, or more recently it may become another D&B? I have no clue what's going on with that anymore.

DisneyQuest was supposed to shut down this past December. They haven't been selling annual passes since early 2015. Honestly. it feels like they don't even care enough about it to actually close it.

D&B would be interesting, but that would require an enormous amount of rebuilding. It would be more than twice the size of the current D&B. It would also be an interesting place to put a Round 1 location.

As far Quest, it is quite the odd one. When I renewed my Premier Pass last year in May, Quest was still advertised as part of the perks of getting it, whereas when I renewed it this May it wasn't in there, yet it still remains open. I sure would like for it to stay as some sort of arcade/restaurant attraction rather than some NBA garbage but they would have to maintain the machines better. Unfortunately with all the kids and tourists in there, stuff is gonna break quite often. My problem is that the employees always gave me a "We don't care" vibe when I would mention that a certain machine isn't working properly.

A Round 1 would be incredible but even if that was a possibility, they probably wouldn't go for it because (1) there's already not a mega ton of interest in the current arcade and (2) there's already a bowling place in Disney Springs. I can still dream, though.

Still haven't been to D&B in Orlando, I really need to take a Wednesday off one time and go. It's a bit of a drive for a night but I could make a day trip of it and hit a couple spots.

Well from what I hear the NBA contract was declined by Disney so they can do whatever they want to Disney Quest. Given its location, the best bet is actually turning it into a D&B. Restaurant, bar, and arcade in one? Nothing at Disney Springs is like that, so it stands out a bit, plus no entry fee means people will actually go inside to check it out. If they kept the same building, I could see an entire floor being the arcade and another being the restaurant (though it gets complicated with the bar so I dunno).

I would love for them to just redo all of Disney Quest as a glorified arcade. Keep the aesthetic, but get rid of anything really out of date and replace them with arcade games. That would be cool. However, that's just a dream.

I have no clue what's going to happen to it. Everything I've heard has been rumors, with one being that they'll know what is happening come September.

Likely wouldn't be profitable, unfortunately.

D&B has its own contracts with arcade game companies and I feel like it would be much more complicated for them to just "take over" DQ than we think.

I think they will auction off the games, or move them to other locations, and sell the building rather than find a buyer interested in both.

Bemanistyle announced they released all the DDR A cabs from the Port of LA. They're on their way.

Now we just need to wait for the cabs to be freighted to Orlando. (or flown as well, I don't care!) I will be one of the first in line to play the new game once it hits the Orlando D&B.

Anyways, anyone headed to any Arcades sometime soon? Outside of Bemani Dog, I barely know anyone here (FL Rhythm Gaming) at all. I want to know more of you guys and try to make all the rhythm gaming events.

As soon as we have some confirmation on when the new DDR A cab is coming to D&B Orlando, I'll be sure to head out right away!

If I remember correctly, someone wanted to do a meet up at D&B for DDR A when it launches and I would be totally down for that.

Again, I would like some more confirmation about when the cab is coming. I live around two hours away from the location and that's the closest arcade near me that's decent.

I hope it's there within the next week or two.

We just gotta wait now. In the meanwhile, I might be frequenting my regular locations to check up on the machines. Also, chcecking out a DDR Solo Bass cab in Oviedo. I am seriously out of shape but most likely not scrubby to not score though, let's just see how bad I do next time I show up to a DDR/Pump game.
