Don't forget about these things too:
-Edit functionality
-Extra speed mods
-Fixed charts
I'm really looking forward to playing edits in particular
I'm iffy on the bolded above... Using SD cards instead of the much more accessible USB flash drives, the edit software (wherever it may be)... Konami's making questionable decisions here, especially on the USB vs. SD card usage...-Edit functionality
-Extra speed mods
-Fixed charts

I'm assuming that that'll only be available on dedicabs, which should be sparse, so eh. But yes @ the other two.
My thoughts on the songlist are here if anyone cares lol > http://pastebin.ca/1413033
It's not a BAD songlist (mostly) but it's boring and I don't see myself playing many songs more than once in it.

Most DDR X songs are boring to play. (well I am always looking around the 13 level range so maybe its just me)
But thats why there is edit mode

I think the steps are the best we've had since DDRMAX.
The problem Dr.D is seeing is that Konami continues to write a lot of steps mostly in the 9-10 range when someone like him wants 13s and up.
The songs are great, especially Alien Six, Bill Hamel, and Darwin, but the ones that emphasize the urban theme are rather annoying (I only play them for their stepcharts).
My advice to Konami would be to try not to waste songs on low difficulties. Or better yet, just use Challenge more frequently. If Shock Arrows please you, work them into charts where they and the steps both flow instead of just yanking out arrows from other charts.

At first I didn't like the X soundtrack at all, but now I love it.... I guess it's an acquired taste because the songlist sounds so different from previous mixes.
Level 9-11 charts are perfectly fine. I think the problem is that Konami seems to reserve 13-15's strictly for bosses and unlocks. They really need to spread out those difficulties for defaults/songs that don't have a "boss song feel" to them.

Neither does Mars Wars, Jupiter: Bringer of Jollity, Faint, Love This Feelin', Witch Doctor, Genom Screams, Celebrate, Ska Ska A Go Go, Across the Nightmare, etc, etc. There are lot of songs that aren't very "dancish" that are in DDR, but if DDR has something is diversity.

Agreed. I love different sounding songs like Love this Feelin', Orion, Mars War 3, and Slip Out. It gives a really different feel compared to the older generic trance/happy hardcore tracks that were in a lot of the mixes.

Kinda does, NO, kinda, no, yes, not really, kinda, kinda, YES, etc etc.
It's not just that it doesn't fit in DDR, it's just a bad song. I wouldn't even think it'd be in Pop'n.

I think stuff like what Daiz mentioned is what helps DDR stand out from other dance games.

We need more songs and charts like Colors for Extreme. Great song, challenge chart, fun steps.

Sadly enough there are some states in the US that would have eAmusement be illegal if it ever came out (NJ).
hmm why?

It has to do with a Gambling law that was passed here in NJ. No Arcade or amusement machines may be connected to a network of any kind.
Bullshit but whatever.

I honestly would love to see the following in the next mix:
Some actual tough licenses. Remember Cartoon Heroes? So Deep? Captain Jack? Twilight Zone? Rhythm and Police? Fuhurata's Theme? We haven't had a 9 footer license on US CS ever, except ones that previously appeared on an AC mix. We haven't had a licenses song above 8 feet since Cartoon Heroes.

Hey, I like Taj He Spitz remix. It has a really catchy bass.
EDIT: Diaz, just to rain on your parade, DDR Ultramix's "Ready Steady Go" was 9 feet and never appeared in an arcade mix.

Songs like Slip Out Bounce in Beat mix are my favorite even though its only a 10.
There are plenty of songs 10-12 range that I like a lot. Off the top of my head from X would be into your heart, Zero, waiting 4 U, reach up, u cant touch this, flourish, koko soko, a geisha's dream and even more just dont feel like thinking any more.
The reason I mentioned about 13's and higher is because when DDR X came out it only featured one 13 (SAGA) on the entire default list. Every other game has shown at least 4-5 equivalent ratings to 13.
Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of the songs and charts, but the ratio between easy and hard songs (I am talking about playable songs cause x-specials ad boss songs are locked) is a lot.

Battle Without Honour Or Humanity DOUBLE-

Though I agree, the licenses haven't been terribly inspiring lately. It seems most of the X licensed were kept at artificially low difficulties and could have benefited from Challenge or something.
