sure it's sounds lazy konami doesn't want to add these songs rn, but eventually they may add them at a later date (see: NEW Generation songs, and iirc some of the removed song in the DDR 2014 US loctest were restored, though i'm probably wrong)
also the brits haven't even got a final release of DDR A what about them lol
The U.M.U x BEMANI songs were all missing from the DDR 2014 test, but the Konami originals were restored on A's release, and Determination was restored worldwide about five months after?also the brits haven't even got a final release of DDR A what about them lol
The first three post-release license additions were added more than a year ago, so I don't see them appearing for the US anytime soon. I still think the main reason behind it is the U version (seemingly) not using the eAmusement participation system that the Asian releases are (which would require it to always be online). My impression for music licenses has always been the license fee has been paid out whenever Konami (or whoever made the game in question) profits off of using said license. If the US version doesn't use the eA participation system, then this would be when an arcade buys a cabinet, and would make it rather difficult for Konami to add licenses after the fact. The online-only system would presumably allow for Konami to only need to pay license fees for songs that were played in a given session.
Granted, this still doesn't explain how Determination was able to be added worldwide four months after the first round of license additions, and I've got nothing for that one...

Hopefully, this just means that these songs will be added in the next release. However, the terrifying possibility that Konami will withhold the version upgrade data from distribution in the US and shut down the American e-Amuse servers is why I'm panicking. I have no definite proof that Konami will take such a move, and hopefully, there won't be any. I'm just worried because this possibility exists, and if a possibility exists, Konmai will be considering it. This is just my personal fear. I'm just a paranoid person.
I'm not saying anything comparing the US to Europe. This is the first Bemani game that has been legally distributed outside of asian regions since DDR X2. I'm sure that if Konami finds a market for rhythm games in the US, there's a chance they'll see if they can find a market in Europe. But if Konami pulls out from the US now, that chance is gone. I'm believing that Konami hates everywhere that isn't certain regions of Asia. On the other hand, if DDR A was a successful test for a Bemani arcade game, and Konami decides not to give up now, I'm hopeful that distribution in other regions will be a bit more widespread.
Honestly, I can relate to you guys. Yeah, I live in the US, but check how many arcades exist in Oregon. Now keep in mind that I live hours away from the nearest big city. At least Europe has a rhythm gaming fanbase, and a shot at something- I'm concerned that I may be the only rhythm gamer in Oregon.
Anyway, I feel like the panic in the thread here is partially my fault, so I'm going to be not cynical for a moment. From what I've seen, by no means is DDR A unpopular outside of Asia. At least the KAC has let Konami know that we exist. I'm not talking about American regions, I'm talking about all regions outside of Asia. Konami stays there because it's safe and easy. If Konmai has considered the possibilities of giving up on an international distribution in the past, events like the KAC and clearance of Ace for Aces should have at least grabbed their attention. When Konami realizes there's a world and fanbase outside their cozy little space, there'll be hope for us. And I think they've noticed.

It's really telling that the loc test was over a year ago and we've had nada.
It also doesn't help that it's probably going to be a hard sell even before the Brexit thing. Your average arcade operator over here isn't going to shell out for a new cab at £12k or whatever when they can get one for a tenth of that. That's why X/X2 sold like shit here.

Yeah, a lot of us forget that it took a partnership with low-risk national chains that had a long-standing relationship with rhythm games to bring DDR A to the US. Most of Europe has no such "in", with the chains that do exist not having the resources or success necessary to pull a distribution deal off.

Whilst there ARE arcade chains and bowling chains that have an arcade distributor, they usually have the same inventory list and most of the new ones are about 75% ticket redemption and 25% what they can get for cheap with a Raw Thrills sticker on.

I'm just a little worried that the focus on Touhou licenses and Hanabitter over the last few years will mean that we'll continue getting significantly less content in the US due to licensing issues. I'm sure Konami knows the fanbase is strong here, and I don't think they'll kill off DDR for us anytime soon, but they probably don't see the value in going through the licensing process for these songs if they don't think the American audience cares about them (which sucks, I loved the last 5 songs).
As for DDR in Europe, I feel you guys. In the USA we've been very lucky to have a huge arcade resurgence with the success of Dave and Busters, Round 1, and other barcades, even if most of the investment goes to ticket redemption games nowadays. The success of those games allowed D&B to take a big risk in investing in DDR A, which seems to have paid off well. It also helped that one of their Senior VPs, Kevin Bachus, is highly active in the online arcade community and a fan of Bemani. He's even expressed that he wants to bring more Bemani games over if possible.
(side note: can we talk about how great this guy is for a second? he's on the Dave and Busters reddit all the time answering questions. https://www.reddit.com/r/DaveAndBusters/comments/5zegxu/at_an_amusement_expo_and_kevin_from_db_senior/)
I hope that DDR can find success in the UK and throughout Europe too. An arcade chain would probably have to invest in 50+ cabs to fulfill the minimum order requirement from Konami of Japan, which is why the main reason they're in the US in the first place.

Hi. Is DDR A going through an update? The arcade operator have it on Offline Mode and they said it's been "updating" since 11 AM.
Shouldn't it be on Online mode and updating?

So no eamuse today. Maybe I'll come back later (I'm in American Eastern time)

Maintenance should be done by 6pm EST, then. Will head to the Albany DnB's in a little while to check.
Is it just me or has Konami been performing eAmuse maintenance a bit more frequently than usual?
EDIT: Eamuse in Albany working as of 6:30pm

This does not affect the U version of DDR A. I've played plenty of times during the Asian maintenance window (which does affect all of the other online BEMANI games at Round1). The U version is affected by the extended monthly maintenance (2AM-7AM JP time the third Tuesday of the month), but it has its own normal maintenance window (I think). And judging by the heat power cooldown time, that window is probably around 3-4AM PT.

They probably rented it out from an arcade. Any idea which one (Timezone, Quantum, Tom's World/Funhouse, etc.)?

Quantum, from what I know. Since the rest of the BEMANI games (jubeat, SDVX, MUSECA, and IIDX) here in the Philippines are managed by that arcade, and Q Power Station.
And that is actually DDR A's first appearance in the Philippines, after it was announced by Quantum a few months ago. I'm SUPER excited about it being here, after last playing it in Japan in my last Christmas break.

Maybe we'll get licenses for Australia and the Philippines now?
Hearing that DDR A is spreading to more countries is great news. Hopefully it means the series will get more and more attention from Konami.
