Probably the reason why I still want to play DDR 4thMix these days... I realy love the licenses included in 3rdMix and 4thMix

More songs like MUSIC, WALKIE TALKIE or MOVIN ON would be much appreciated in future releases. Just because this is 2009 doesn't mean we can't party like it's 1999! Very Happy

Get Up N Move is the only good edit. Confused

Dub I Dub is good though, and the steps are great. Get Up n Move was good but the steps could have been a lot better.

in both of those there were throwbacks to the original stepcharts, so they weren't totally original. I don't know why they bothered with such old songs, but they took the same rhythms from the original stepcharts.

oh, and I'd like to see more old school dance licenses like NIGHT IN MOTION. That was my favorite song on there back in the day.

maybe james brown is dead....

I only like the HAPPY GRANDALE mix of HERO, the original's OK, and the KCP Discotique mix sucked balls.

And, like neodude237 said, most of MAX's licenses were great, Twilight Zone, Ghosts, So Deep, Telephone Operator, Justify My Love, amongst others..

I don't really consider the original Hero and the X version different songs, but whatever.

Yeah Max and Max2 licenses were great too. But nothing can top my BB$, all the E-rotic songs, Dam Dariram, Dream a Dream, Captain Jack, Shooting Star, Never Gonna Make...unfortunately for those, Konami's stepping abilities peaked during the Maxtreme era, they were pretty much learning how to make steps during the first games so there were plenty of hit-or-miss stepcharts back then.

If Konami will just put SO DEEP back in (AND RATE IT PERFECTLY WITH MEANS A 14, NOT A 13 OR 15) everything will be fine.Tongue

And by the way, 557 post counts (the final combo of Pluto Relinquish Oni) and 16 posts to go till 573! Yeah I know, wrong thread.Happy

[Get Up N Move is the only good edit. Confused

I didn't think that Get Up'N Move was even good enough for a revival. Then Konami discovered that there was a part of the song they didn't use in a DDR version, the first two being part of 2nd Mix and Solo Bass. Unless they're absolutely insane they'll make everyone's ears bleed and put Get Up'N Move (Speed Mix) from the Dancemania Speed series in the next DDR game.

I also do realize that all the other X-Edits are just recycled parts of the song that was never used in an official DDR version, but the only two I don't think deserved one was butterfly for not even having anything different and Get Up'N Move for sounding exactly like the Solo Bass version without the "AWW SHIT" part.

Personal favorites were the remaining three, Hero, Dub-I-Dub, and Boys (Go 2nd Mix) simply for adding into the song parts that weren't heard in the original version.

IMO, they started out just experimenting, then they got good at it in 3rd Mix, albeit with a bit too many jumps in some charts. The peak was 4th Plus-Max, particularly Max. Max2 and Extreme were also pretty good, followed by a slight dip in SuperNOVA and a nosedive in SN2. X was a move back up, but still not on par with Max.

As for home versions, Ultramix is obviously horseshit, but Ultramix 2 was brilliant. UM3 and UM4 kept that up, although with a few odd charts that just didn't work. Universe was great, but they should have toned down the step jumps a little. Universe 2 was a misstep compared to previous titles, what with the grossly underrated charts, a bit too many 16ths and the easier Heavy charts just skewing difficult in general. Universe 3 was awesome, even better than UM2.

HP1 was alright, but HP2 magnified the flaws I mentioned about UNI1 and UNI2.

The early mixes had some good songs, but Dancemania songs have disappeared and they should move away from that vibe anyway and onward to a new "generation" of the crowd.

I have to agree with whoever said that these had too many instrumental portions. Confused

And Butterfly is just too hasty for my taste.

Quoted for emphasis. It might not have had many songs, but the quality of step charts in DDRMAX was truly fantastic. I played DDRMAX for the first time relatively recently (=~6 months ago) and whilst I'd seen most of the songs on Extreme, seeing them all together in one mix with almost no filler impressed me even today.

(Plus Flash in the night is amusingly bad!)

You are right about 3rdMIX being a bit too jump-happy though... the worst culprits of all for this are the songs from ver.Korea 2.

I completely agree with RoyBoy on most of that, the charts really did go up and down as time passed Dead My ranking goes as follows:
1st mix - can't really rank it, the charts weren't bad, but it was the first in the series
2nd mix - it was alright, some charts were quite wonky though
3rd mix - overall pretty good, though not much stood out to me personally
4th mix - good charts for the most part, but again, nothing stood out to me that much
4th plus - great charts on the songs they re-stepped, Dub-I-Dub has one of my favorite charts to date
5th mix - most charts felt kind of bland to me, but none were horrendous in my opinion
6th mix - my favorite by far, I love most of the charts in this game, and it had some very memorable ones for me such as So Deep, though I hate the last new notes by the final freeze arrows
7th mix - I thought this game was great as far as charts went too, I am not very big on most of the songs, but Trance de Jenario and Living in America are some of my favorite songs to this day
8th mix - overall a great game, I loved most of the licensed songs steps and most KOs
SN - While a lot of people may not like this game as much, I actually love this mix and thought virtually all the new content was stepped fine, though there weren't many memorable charts in the game
SN2 - Good sans a couple songs and the boss songs for me, some very memorable charts in this mix such as Blind Justice
X - Really, as good as Max for me. While I may not like all the songs, I like almost every chart except for most of the X Specials Annoyed

Edit: @ Chi, what is wrong with Flash in the Night? I love that song/chart, one of my all time favorites

The song isn't my cup of tea, and it has dull notecharts (except for Expert singles, natch - this is what makes it "amusingly" bad for me). It ain't "Let them move", but at the same time it ain't "So deep" either...
