But could this mean that Reach the Sky is coming as a later unlock?

It's not been confirmed as an unlock in the slightest. I was just pointing out that the typo on the blog could indicate that the song may be coming on the arcade machine at a later date Tongue.

I wonder why they're putting all these HP songs in X. Could it be because we're going to get one main DDR title next year? No seperate "main" game and no seperate "Wii" game?

Bye bye PS2. Hello major setback.

No, there most likely will be. The Wii songs here are probably just a response to a) the lack of songs by Bemani artists in X, b) popularity of the Wii games/songs, and c) the high amount of removals in DDR X.

Konami seems to realize that when they drop DDR on the PS2 and move it to the PS3 they're going to lose a massive chuck of their audience. Maybe they can do like they did with the EU releases and make the same game for both platforms at the same time (with the PS3 version being slightly better (HD, widescreen, couple of exclusive songs, yadda yadda).

"I'm honestly pissed off."
I was actually trying to imply that the Wii would become the main platform, and the PS2 be dropped entirely.

Lets hope not. I REALLY WANT ONE! And so does maxninja and countless others...

But since most of the fan base is moving to the Wii (casual gamer), PS3 wouldn't be a bad idea. DDR did O.K. with the transition for PS1 to PS2!

By the way, does anyone know how many DDR titles (SN,SN2,X) titles have been sold in the US, EU, and Japan? (looks at pie)Smile

No, they only had a thread open that asked what players would think of a PS3 DDR.

IIRC, the rumors were that Konami would be continuing on PS2, but are in the process of making a PS3 DDR spin-off game to test the waters.

Who knows what's true, but there is almost certainly another Wii game in the works by this staff blog done by Rena shorty after FFP was released:

Two of these are very easy. DDR X sales in the EU: none. Haha. SN2 looks to be negligible (six at last count).

I don't think it means anything. Maybe they finally realized that not all of the hardcore fanbase is moving to the Wii for the in-house artists, and will be transplanting some of its content so it can reach a wider audience on both platforms. In SuperNOVA and Strike, we got a lot of ultramix material, I think the same thing is just happening here.

DDR X

United States Sales (First sold in September 2008): ~230,000 units. That may seem pretty high, but it's actually pretty low. You can probably chalk this up to the outdatedness of the Playstation 2.

Japan Sales (First sold in January 2009): ~20,000 units. May seem low, but it's pretty common for most Japanese Bemani CS games. It seems players opt much more for the AC there.

DDR SuperNOVA2

United States Sales (First sold in September 2007): ~630,000 units. It's a lot higher than X's, but remember that it has a 12 month head start .

Japan sales: ~20,000 units.

DDR SuperNOVA:

United States Sales (First sold in September 2006): ~830,000 units.

Japan: Don't seem to have sales data...

One interesting thing: DDR Hottest Party is approaching 1 Million sales in the United States alone. It currently stands at 950,000 units sold in the US.

And Hottest Party 2 is selling significantly better than Hottest Party 1. At 25 weeks in, HP1 had sold ~450,000 while HP2 has sold ~550,000.

wow, the HP games are really killing the mainstream PS2 games in sales, I guess it's understandable why bemani artists have moved to a different platform. I'd love to get more involved with the HP games if only the quality was better. it seems that the ps2/arcade DDRs have had much better stepcharts, graphics and overall presentations than the wii versions even though they sold less...

Are there only 20,000 PS2s left in Japan or something?
