So some things I found out from playing ENDYMION:
-If someone can access ENDYMION by themselves, you can play with them when you have access to Level 3 Extra Stage and select that, even if they are not level 3.
-If they are level 3 and want to play ENDYMION, you can join them, but you will also lose all your heat bars as well, no matter how many you have. I was one play away from Level 3 and lost it just because I joined up with the only one in my area who can play ENDYMION.
Just a heads up.
Also, out of curiosity, anyone else hear if their locations (specifically D&B, but anywhere is fine) is getting more machines? I found out today that our D&B ordered two more machines and they will be arriving in September.

I'm predicting ENDYMION
is gonna be something like 950 steps and the first D20 that we get. As far as Ace of Aces? Might get a 17 for
at most. Didn't someone claim the AoA
was a 15?

Sounds like he either didn't have Rinon's Adventure cleared, or it was extremely busy at D&B. If you've already finished Rinon's Adventure, then you'd only need 7 play sessions at most to be able to access Endymion (and this assumes you were just starting for the day).
Since RINON's ADVENTURE 3 just came out (and also gave rise to ENDYMION in the first place), I'm sure Jeff/Fungah still had to grind through all of that (as do most people), and that's at minimum 50 sets including the unlock of UNLOCK LEVEL A (105 steps per Challenge=minimum 9 sets each, +156 steps for WORLD 6, which is another 13 sets minimum). While I do recall him playing the night the update was activated, I do remember comments on his Twitter or something saying that Dave and Busters was crowded (it was half-day Wednesday). I don't think he hardcore ground through by playing all short songs or by failing halfway through sets, so yeah, it's gotta take awhile.
Just wanna say that this is 100% correct haha.

as for OTP, it was a throwback to the MAX-EX games, but also spliced in 2010 BG videos for some reason so...

Question: How do heat levels work? If I'm reading correctly you get 1 of them after every Extra Stage (every attempt? every pass? every AA? do difficulties matter?), 7 is the max, and Endymion costs 7 of them to play. Is there anything else to it? Does anything different happen if you have a heat level of 6 compared to 1 or 0?
I have a feeling I'm getting heat levels significantly mixed up with the multiple other things with "level" in their names (Extra Exclusive levels? Extra Stage levels? Rinon's Adventure levels? worlds? steps? Other unlock things? Do heat levels interact with any of these at all?)

Basically, your heat level goes up as you play stages. You get one heat point per game; three points gives you 3 bonus extra stars at the end of a round, and 7 points fills your entire gauge. And yes, your heat level is connected to your extra stage level, which determines the Ex Exclusive available.
It looks to me that Endymion has its own video too. If those are generic background videos playing on the stage, I don't recognize them...

"Roulette is my main" |
I hope this explanation helps you.
You get one after every game regardless of getting Extra Stage, getting a AA/AAA, difficulty etc. The first three games, if you manage to get 9 stars in the first three games, it will take you to Extra Stage Level 1. After those three games, Rinon levels up in which you can play Extra Stage Level 2 from games 4-7. Getting Extra Stage will be easier as it will give you three stars to start the next game. After game 7, Rinon levels up again where you'll now be at Extra Stage level 3 until the forced cooldown, or play ENDYMION. That is if you have unlocked Level A to play said song. From the 8th game onward, you will receive 9 stars at the end of each game where you are guaranteed to get Extra Stage.
With the Adventure levels, Baby-Lon's will earn you steps across all stages including Extra Stage. Rinon's however, the steps are only earned through Extra Stage. At Level 1, unless you can get Full Combos on all three songs in each of the three games, then you might get Extra Stage probably once. Twice if you have played to Extra Stage Level 3 in your last session, which means getting Extra Stage on your first game.
At Level 2, you would need to get a combination of either:
Two stars on all three songs
One star on one, two on another, and three on the third. That one can be in any particular order.
Or, three stars on two songs.
All of this just makes it easier to get Extra Stage to earn more steps.
At Level 3, you can do whatever you want, as long as you don't fail Final Stage, and you will have Extra Stage.
I know that I've been ninja'd with the explanation. I just like being thorough with explaining things.

I feel like my point was missed, might have not been clear. I have no doubt it took 8 hours to unlock the song...the first time. But once it's unlocked, as far as I can tell, you only need to recharge the heat power gauge to full (7 sessions) to get another attempt on the song. Unless you're in a very busy arcade, that should not take 8 hours.Quote: mf32892

You're not wrong, but you seem to have misinterpreted what I meant. When I said "8 hours of DDR", I meant it - because I had to get all the way through Rinon's Adventure Part 3. That's a prerequisite for ENDYMION, so regardless of how easy it is for me to now get to ENDYMION (once every 8 rounds), it still took me 48 credits in one day to get there. Which took 8 hours. So, like I said, everything mf32892 said was correct - the arcade was busy on Wednesday so I only got to play two rounds. I had to do the other 48 on Thursday.
In other news, I got farther in ACE FOR ACES just now:

yeah true but it wasn't exactly new
in fact the entire song was just a hold over from older games.

From what I understand of the stars, you get one per "A" in your grade (so "AA" is worth two), plus one for a Full Combo (so "AA" FC would be three stars, or one third of the Extra Stage). So to max your extra stage stuff, your first few games *should* be warmup stages you can score really well in, and then as you get your bonuses, you work into harder stuff.
Also, if you FAIL your Final Stage, even with a 9-star bonus, you can lose Extra Stage attempt; but that's really the only condition where I've experienced that. But I haven't played this latest patch, so I don't know if that's changed at all.

There's a gimmick? A speed up then a stop then a note all of a sudden? Just count 1 2 3 4. Also after that it's still at 200bpm. If he would have failed that part sounded so dubsteppy

The thing with that kind of gimmick is while it's easy to get once you know it's there, knowing that it's just counting to four requires already seeing that at least once.
Which in itself isn't too bad, but the stupid stupid stupid PFC requirement does mean you die as soon as anything remotely unexpected happens, since consistent timing is now a strict requirement simply to survive.
