These challenge charts look like such fun! I prefer the ones for Come to Life and Emera over Start a New Day; though I don't really like how the "eoh diggadi oerr..." part was stepped in Emera. Someday I shall try them out when I am good enough in DDR.

Oh my god, Start A New Day is like. Perfect. Can't wait to try that one out.
Emera's alright. I like how they included the freeze steps in it, but that's all.
I don't know what to think about Come to Life. It's blatantly overstepped in a lot of parts and I don't know if it deserves that 18 rating. It doesn't look fun to play next to the expert chart - it just looks tiring.

I'm with the general consensus that Emera is the best of the
's. Either way they all are a welcoming sight. It'll be exciting with the next batch, Ishtar that in my opinion DESPERATELY needs a challenge, as well as Neutrino that we foresee as an 18. Though it's slightly irks me that we have to wait a longer while for Cosy Catastrophe.

nekomata, qrispy, and totto consistently provide great material to ddr
i wish konami would let them do more
i wish konami would let them do more
if I remember correctly I think nekomata is like the sound director for IIDX,so he has that going but wish they would put more of his songs in DDR haha
He was SD for IIDX up through 22 but then got bumped over to MUSECA, hence the decrease in songs from him in IIDX in the last 2 versions.

Come to Life is pretty good, probably the best we could hope for in an 18 from it, I'd definitely give it a shot.
I really dig Emera, feel like it really makes sense, steps are tricky but work.
I'm normally not opposed to some overstepping but Start a New Day is just stepping to air at this point, and I just can't really get over it. Steps are probably fun but I just want them to go to something. Hard to fault the step writer, I'm sure they were told to make it a boss song when it really never should have been. There wasn't much to work with if the mandate was a 16.

I looked over the Emera and Start A New Day charts and they weren't that bad, but I heard from a lot of people that Start A New Day was a bit of an overkill I must say that, but overall they are awesome charts

thanks for the info
I'm guessing LED is the new SD for IIDX?

we're kind of straying a bit off topic but yes, although 'new' isn't exactly the right word to use. LED has been the SD for IIDX since Resort Anthem.
Getting back on topic, all this stuff is above my skill level so I'm not really qualified to judge any of it, but most of them seem fine except for Come to Life. Not sure what they're stepping to in some of the 16th note dumpstreams so it feels like they're just putting them in there to have them in there.

Is it me or are DDR A pads really really sticky? (I was playing 2014 on what looked like a DDR A cabinet)

First time I got to play DDR A, as well as get an eAmusement card, was Monday in Orlando's location. Pads are way better than the shitty X2 we once had in Jacksonville; however, the online mode took FOREVER to connect, so setting up my eAmusement account on the machine took at least 20 minutes.
As for the song list, I kind of liked the new interface, but it'll take some getting used to at home. I just wish more locations in the US were planned, but DDR is such a small niche now as we all know.... or at least in the south. I just wish my engine didn't blow right afterwards, losing my car I've been driving for almost a decade... so much for more visits.
I did like the selection system for unlocks and final stages. I can finally not worry about inputting codes on shitty pads like our old SN2 in my home town, and the level system amuses my ADHD...
I think I'm just getting too old after all of these years or need to get back in shape because everything that's 14+ new just is ridiculous compared to pre-X3vs2nd AC.

Yeah, the Orlando D&B has been having that problem since their router got fried during a storm. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon.
On topic: Got to grind out all the challenge charts the other day and I'm liking them all. Definitely a lot better than the last set, where the only one I really liked was Astrogazer

Don't worry. That Supernova 2 will be fixed and i will get some old mixes in there to enjoy the past.
5 Stages + Extra Stage + One more Extra Stage + Joint Premium + Doubles Premium.
You'll see ;) Everything about that cabinet will be fixed. I promise you.

Finally got to play Cozy Catastrophe DSP (combination of being busy at work and the Orlando machine running super slow thanks to D&B router issues prevented me from playing it sooner) and wow what an amazing chart. Well worth playing.
And to know how bad that machine has been acting up because of the router, I walked in at 5:30 yesterday to two random kids trying to play. After 10 minutes on the "Scan your e-amuse card" screen they walked off. I didn't complete one full round until after 6. It randomly went from working decently to taking five minutes to progress one screen at a time.

Bad news: Players that no use e-Amusement Passes don't play CHALLENGE charts (including DDRMAX2's Challenge remixes, Groove Radar Specials and X-Specials)

Good, it was honestly bad for some players who went "Oh, Candy Star!" and choosing the X-Special instead of Basic.
Yes, you could read that it shows only one chart, but people will probably just notice the familiar jacket and not even look at anything else until after the fact.

Okay, now the question is, if you're an e-Amuse user and you're playing Versus with someone without an e-Amusement pass, can the other person play Challenge?Post #4320 · Posted at 2017-06-07 04:32:51am 8.2 years ago

It's the same scenario as with playing against someone who doesn't have unlocks. If it allowed only the person who could play said song to play while the other sits there doing nothing, that'd be terrible.
