"jubeat knit one, purl two" |
JessTehSkox: Cutie Pie was slightly early. It didn't ruin the song, but it hurt my score. ;)
Eight reviews is plenty for one post. I'll use this post for the next group.
Wake Me Up Inside
Steps: Not bad, although some of the streams didn't make any sense. I also think the bridge should have run at half speed. 3/6
Song Quality: Good, but too loud. 1/2
Extras: N/A
SUBTOTAL: 4/10
Dash Hopes
Steps:
Challenge: I know it's a 14, but most of the streams felt forced. I'll say. .6/1.2
Heavy: A little better. .7/1.2
Standard: Also a little better. .7/1.2
Light: Nothing bad, really, but speed alone doesn't increase the rating. .6/1.2
Beginner: Same idea as Light. .6/1.2
Total: 3.2/6
Other:
Song Quality: Yup, perfect Extra Stage song.
Can't fault you here, so 2/2.
Extras: There's a banner on the simfile page, but it's...not in the simfile. Huh. 0/2
Total: 2/4
SUBTOTAL: 5.2/10
Procyon
Steps:
Light: I'm not a big fan of awkward patterns that force doublesteps. Overall, it was okay. 1.3/2
Standard: For the most part, it didn't quite fit the intensity of the song. 1/2
Heavy: Pretty good, except the middle didn't flow with the rest of the song. 1.5/2
Total: 3.8/6
Other:
Song Quality: Perfect. 2/2
Extras: Just the graphics, which work well. 1/2
Total: 3/4
SUBTOTAL: 6.8/10
Vodka
Steps: Offset was a little too early, but aside from that, I liked the steps. You had some nice patterns going. 1.3 for each difficulty, giving you a total of 3.9/6.
Song Quality: I had to turn down the volume a notch. 1.8/2
Extras: Graphics suit the song well, and LOL at the readme. 2/2
SUBTOTAL: 7.7/10
Cheeseburger (LOL, two food songs in a row)
Steps:
Challenge: I thought the rhythm was good, but the steps were all over the place. .7/1.2
Heavy: Not quite as good, and rhythm isn't everything. .6/1.2
Standard: Same idea, too much focus on rhythm. .6/1.2
Light: Steps that are able to follow the music and lyrics are always interesting. .8/1.2
Beginner: Similar to Light. .8/1.2
Total: 3.5/6
Other:
Song Quality: Perfect. 2/2
Extras: Graphics are great, but readme didn't have enough info. 1.6/2
Total: 3.6/4
SUBTOTAL: 7.1/10
Break the Ice (Jason Nevins Rock Remix)
Steps:
S-Beginner: A bit wild for Beginner. .51/.6
S-Light: Rather inappropriate for a Light 3-footer. .44/.6
S-Standard: Alright. I just wish the flow was a bit better. .5/.6
S-Heavy: Similar to Heavy, but not as big a problem. .56/.6
S-Challenge: Good steps, but the jumps in the chorus were a bit odd and the quarter notes could have been more intense. .53/.6
D-Beginner: Serves its purpose well. .6/.6
D-Light: Okay, although the step from down to down didn't help any. .45/.6
D-Standard: Quite alright. .54/.6
D-Heavy: Also good. .54/.6
D-Challenge: The main thing that irked me was how you were trying to make it an 8, then you added those sixteenth streams. .51/.6
Total: 5.18/6
Other:
Song Quality: Perfect. 2/2
Extras: Graphics suit the song well and the readme is good, but I'm docking you a few points because the video clips put the file over the limit. Also, the lyrics run ahead of the music. A line will only be displayed for up to 5 seconds, and you were trying to use too much at once. I'll say 1.3/2
Total: 3.3/4
SUBTOTAL: 8.48/10
You Know Me
Steps:
Beginner: Alright, except for the overlapping freezes. .8/1.5
Light: That's not a good way to use freezes on Light, especially the forced spin. .7/1.5
Standard: Should have been a little easier towards the end, but otherwise, I like it. 1/1.5
Heavy: Nice steps. A pattern with a little variation is good. 1.2/1.5
Total: 3.7/6
Other:
Song Quality: Nothing wrong with the quality, but you should have used a different preview and halved the speed at the end. 1.5/2
Extras: Graphics are good. So is readme, although it's odd that the lyrics are listed there instead of an .lrc file. Oh well, 1.8/2
Total: 3.3/4
SUBTOTAL: 7/10
Rokuko!!!
Steps:
Beginner: Alright, except for the step at the end. Not really a Beginner thing. .8/1.2
Light: Good steps, but a few forced doublesteps isn't so good. .9/1.2
Standard: You made up for it here. 1/1.2
Heavy: Same deal as Light. .9/1.2
Challenge: Same deal as Light. .9/1.2
Total: 4.5/6
Other:
Song Quality: Blurry. 1/2
Extras: Nothing wrong here. Readme, graphics, and lyrics are good. 2/2
Total: 3/4
SUBTOTAL: 7.5/10
Is it okay if I don't finish until Monday? That would still be the 14th.

(Oni, there's nothing wrong with short freezes if they're used appropriately. A few where an ordinary step or jump just isn't enough emphasis is good, but all over the place, they're a waste).
To avoid confusion, you can call me teh 'ni, 'nister, Ni-Ni...or just Alex.Post #24 · Posted at 2008-07-13 04:47:35am 16.9 years ago

Here are my reviews.
Teraholic
Beginner: WAYYY TOO HARD for beginner. I don’t think any beginner player would be able to pass this. 0/1000
Light: Still too hard. Triplets at 172 BPM are hard for most light mode players. 36/1000
Standard: It’s better, but I would’ve rated that a 9. There’s just a little too many triplets during the BPM gimmick from measures 61 to 67. 60/1000
Heavy: These steps are pretty good, but it should be rated a 10. 90/1000
Challenge: Too many jumps mixed in with the long triplet streams. The 48th notes at the end of the song equal quarter notes at 4128 BPM; they are incredibly unreasonable for a pad file. 60/1000
SUBTOTAL: 246/1000
Others---
Song Quality: 200/1000
Extras: The banner graphics could’ve used some help, but the background was used in Dancing Wip3out Starlight and you didn't credit him. 50/1000
SUBTOTAL: 250/1000
TOTAL: 496/1000 (49.6%)
----------------------------------------------------------
The Detonator
Beginner: Too simple. Beginner steps should follow the music in some way or another, rather than just having a step every measure. 78/1000
Light: These would be decent beginner steps. I would rate these steps a 2. But overall, they are decent. 90/1000
Standard: These are pretty good steps, even though they are simple. However, they are a little too simple, especially at the slow part. 102/1000
Heavy: I like these steps a lot. They are simple, but they follow the music really well! 120/1000
Challenge: Haha, nice mine gimmick. It matches the song well. These steps follow anything from the melody, to simple noises or glitchy sound effects in the background! 120/1000
SUBTOTAL: 510/1000
Others---
Song Quality: 200/1000
Extras: The graphics are pretty cool and it matches the song well. 100/1000
Readme: This readme was very descriptive. Nice job! 100/1000
SUBTOTAL: 400/1000
TOTAL: 910/1000 (91%)
------------------------------------------------------------
Hardkore Atomic
Beginner: Really good job! But there shouldn’t be changing sets of quarter notes in beginner difficulties, like at measures 56 and 71. Changing sets of quarter notes at 181 BPM are a little too hard for beginners. 90/1000
Light: These steps are pretty good. The 90.5 BPM part can be improved a little bit though. 120/1000
Standard: These steps had too many jumps and should be rated a 7, but other than that, nice job. 97.5/1000
Heavy: These steps match the song well in the beginning and the end (The 181 BPM parts), but they could’ve been better. The 90.5 BPM part didn’t follow the music well at all though. 120/1000
SUBTOTAL: 427.5/1000
Others---
Song Quality: 200/1000
Others: The graphics match the song really well, but they are a little simple. 150/1000
SUBTOTAL: 350/1000
TOTAL: 777.5/1000 (77.75%)

"jubeat knit one, purl two" |
Next group.
Ride a White Horse
Steps:
Beginner: Good, except for the steps on the backbeat, which is rather unimaginative. .9/1.2
Light: Same issue with the backbeat steps. .9/1.2
Standard: Great steps. 1/1.2
Heavy: No big issue here. 1/1.2
Challenge: Hey, you made this song danceable.
1/1.2
Total: 4.8/6
Other:
Song Quality: Perfect. 2/2
Extras: Nothing, so no points here. 0/2
Total: 2/4
SUBTOTAL: 6.8/10
Wicked Plastic
Steps:
Beginner: Novice is a joke. Even Beginner should follow the music. .3/1.2
Light: Too easy for a Light chart, almost Beginner-like. .4/1.2
Standard: It's Standard, use more 8th notes. .4/1.2
Heavy: Similar problem to Challenge, but at least the beginning was toned down more. .8/1.2
Challenge: Follows the song well, but I didn't like how the difficulty was skewed towards the beginning instead of spread out. .7/1.2
Total: 2.6/6
Other:
Song Quality: Perfect. 2/2
Extras: Readme and background are good, but the banner in the Extras folder should have been the default. 1.8/2
Total: 3.8/4
SUBTOTAL: 6.4/10
Pippi Girl (Speedo Mix)
Steps:
Light: It irked me to see that this had more Air and Stream than Standard. The actual quality makes up for some of that, though. 1.3/2
Standard: Nice way to follow the lyrics, but the difficulty felt a little skewed. 1.4/2
Heavy: Good steps, although near the beginning, it should have cooled down with the music. 1.6/2
Total: 4.3/6
Other:
Song Quality: Perfect. 2/2
Extras: Graphics are good. Nothing else is used, though. 1/2
Total: 3/4
SUBTOTAL: 7.3/10
Solid State Squad
Steps: Overall, I didn't like the speedup, which is factored into all these scores.
Beginner: Not ideal steps for Beginner, even if it's a 2. I also don't like the use of eighth notes, either. .5/1.2
Light: I liked the pattern of the steps, but the rhythm is a little iffy. .7/1.2
Standard: A bit too vague for my liking. .5/1.2
Heavy: Also vague, but there's a little more variety going on. .6/1.2
Challenge: I might have liked it more if the rest of the song was more like the middle. .5/1.2
Total: 2.8/6
Other:
Song Quality: A bit hard to hear the song. 1.5/2
Extras: Graphics vaguely suit the song. Readme was good, but not great. 1.3/2
Total: 2.8/4
SUBTOTAL: 5.6/10
Walkin' on the Sun
Steps:
Beginner: Vaguely follows the music, but at the same time doesn't. Hmm... 1.1/1.5
Light: Nice, but too many eighths and jumps for Light. .8/1.5
Standard: Liked it, but I was disappointed to see it's just Heavy without the insane stuff. .9/1.5
Heavy: Follows the lyrics and the music at the same time. The only problem was that the jumps were a little repetitive. 1.1/1.5
Total: 3.9/6
Other:
Song Quality: Perfect. 2/2
Extras: Like everything here. I especially liked the effects used in the artwork. 2/2
Total: 4/4
SUBTOTAL: 7.9/10
Lonely in Gorgeous (Paradise Kiss OP)
Steps:
Beginner: A little intense for Beginner, especially the dotted quarter notes. That's a huge no-no. .4/1.5
Light: Decent steps, but too hard to be a 3. .8/1.5
Standard: Not a lot of flow, what with the eighth jumps and long freezes mixed together. .5/1.5
Heavy: Some of the jumps and freezes felt misused. .9/1.5
Total: 2.6/6
Other:
Song Quality: Perfect. 2/2
Extras: Graphics are good, but no readme. What's odd is that there's a path to the lyrics in the .sm file, but they're not included. .8/2
Total: 2.8/4
SUBTOTAL: 5.4/10
Teraholic
Steps:
Beginner: Were you trying to write steps for Beginner? Because they're too hard. .3/1.2
Light: Not much of a pattern in the steps. .5/1.2
Standard: You managed to improve some on that here. .6/1.2
Heavy: Same gripe as Light. .5/1.2
Challenge: I see what you're doing, but you don't make it work. .5/1.2
Total: 2.4/6
Other:
Song Quality: Too loud. 1/2
Extras: No readme, you left the .old files in there, and you used someone else's background. You even copied the speed changes, only redoing the steps. The banner should resemble, but not look exactly like, the background and at least be the right size. 0/2
Total: 1/4
SUBTOTAL: 3.4/10
NahaNaha vs. Gattchoon Battle
Steps:
Heavy: Good, except for some points where it should have followed the music more. 1.4/2
Standard: Same idea as Heavy. 1.4/2
Light: At some points, it almost didn't make sense. I'll say 1.2/2
Total: 4/6
Other:
Song Quality: Perfect. 2/2
Extras: Readme omitted, and the graphics work, but could have been more original. .7/2
Total: 2.7/4
SUBTOTAL: 6.7/10

"jubeat knit one, purl two" |
Thanks for the update. Now I don't feel like I have to rush.
Next group:
Be My Lover
Steps:
S-Beginner: Really good, except perhaps the ending. .58/.6
S-Light: Not bad. Could have been a little different. .54/.6
S-Standard: I think you derived most of it from the higher difficulties, but not in a good way, e.g. the pseudo-triplets in a four-footer. .48/.6
S-Heavy: A little hard for a 6, and some of the streams didn't make sense. .52/.6
S-Challenge: Like Heavy, some of the streams didn't make sense. .55/.6
D-Beginner: Great steps. .6/.6
D-Light: Everything was fine and dandy until one point where there's a 2D arrow followed by a 1L on the next beat. Ouch. .4/.6
D-Standard: Better for Standard than Single, which is ironic considering this is rated a 5 and that's a 4. .53/.6
D-Heavy: Like Single, some of the streams don't make sense. .54/.6
D-Challenge: Would have been a little higher, but there's a jump in the gallop stream, which I think was a typo (or whatever the word is for .sm). .53/.6
Total: 5.27/6
Other:
Song Quality: Perfect. 2/2
Extras: Readme is good. Graphics are good, but rather generic. Video clips are synched well, but push the file over the limit. No big issue with the lyrics. 1.5/2
Total: 3.5/4
SUBTOTAL: 8.77/10
Capital G
Steps:
Beginner: Flow is rather iffy. Some of it's not Beginner-ish, but it is a 2-footer. .6/1.5
Light: I would have liked the jumps better if they weren't corner jumps. 1/1.5
Standard: No big issue here. 1.2/1.5
Heavy: The hand where the lyrics say "hands and knees" was nice.
I'll give it 1.2/1.5
Total: 4/6
Other:
Song Quality: Perfect. 2/2
Extras: Ooh, nice graphics. Readme is nice, but to include the lyrics there instead of its own file is odd. 1.8/2
Total: 3.8/4
SUBTOTAL: 7.8/10
URU Trailer Theme (E3 Version)
Steps: I thought they were all pretty good; you had some nice patterns going. The BPM changes were awfully gimmicky, though. .8 for each difficulty, for a total of 4/6.
Song Quality: On the soft side. 1.5/2
Extras: Nothing wrong here. 2/2
SUBTOTAL: 7.5/10
Sexual Healing
Steps:
Beginner: Works well. 1/1.2
Light: I didn't like how it switched between simple and complex patterns. .5/1.2
Standard: Good steps, but not really a 4. .8/1.2
Heavy: Not much wrong here. 1/1.2
Challenge: You should have toned down the jumps just a little. .9/1.2
Total: 4.2/6
Other:
Song Quality: On the soft side. 1.5/2
Extras: None. 0/2
Total: 1.5/4
SUBTOTAL: 5.7/10
The Detonator
Steps:
Beginner: Way too easy. .4/1.2
Light: Again, too easy. .4/1.2
Standard: So-so. Felt kind of SuperNOVA2-ish. .7/1.2
Heavy: Not quite perfect, but the gimmicks work well. .9/1.2
Challenge: Pretty much same thing as Heavy. .9/1.2
Total: 3.3/6
Other:
Song Quality: Perfect. 2/2
Extras: Nothing wrong here. 2/2
Total: 4/4
SUBTOTAL: 7.3/10
Queen of Love
Steps:
Light: Very inconsistent in flow. Mostly half notes followed by eighths during the slowdown? .7/2
Standard: Also inconsistent in flow. Quarter notes followed by a long eighth stream, then a slowdown with steps that don't fit very well. .7/2
Heavy: Quite alright. 1.7/2
Total: 3.1/6
Others:
Song Quality: Perfect. 2/2
Extras: No readme and .old files were left in there. Graphics are okay, but the backgroud and banner should match more closely. .5/2
Total: 2.5/4
SUBTOTAL: 5.6/10
My Console
Steps:
Beginner: Alright, except for the Light-esque streams. .8/1.2
Light: The only thing I didn't like was the huge gap filled only by a freeze arrow. .9/1.2
Standard: Same thing applies, and the flow was a little off. .8/1.2
Heavy: Pretty good. 1/1.2
Challenge: Also pretty good. 1/1.2
Total: 4.5/6
Other:
Song Quality: Perfect. 2/2
Extras: Everything's good here. 2/2
Total: 4/4
SUBTOTAL: 8.5/10
As for Love Me Do, I'm not sure which one counts. If it's the old one, that would be 1/6 for the poorly synched steps, 2/2 for song quality, and 1/2 for extras, for a total of 4/10.

3 more reviews
NGO
Challenge-Overall, pretty good steps. They can be improved, however. The slow part at measure 47 wasn't exactly synced to the guitar riff, some of the steps were a bit off. 525/1000
Others--Song Quality: 200/1000
Extras: Graphics: Terrible! 0/1000
TOTAL: 725/1000 (72.5%)
-------------------------------------------------------
Wicked Plastic
Beginner: Too simple. Add more steps, rather than just measure-apart steps. 60/120
Light: Too simple. Light mode should be more difficult than that. 70/120
Standard: It's something that light mode should have more of, minus the eighth notes. But as far as standard is concerned, it needs more eighth notes. 100/120
Heavy: Follows the music well. These are really good heavy steps. 120/120
Challenge: Follows the steps extremely well. The end is understandable of why it is easy; there's not much that the song has at the end to make it hard. 120/120
STEPS: 470/600 (78.3%)
Others-- Song Quality: 200/200
Graphics: 100/100
Readme: 100/100
OTHERS: 400/400 (100%)
TOTAL: 870/1000 (87%)

Waluigi Pinball

Beginner/Light/Standard: I'm just gonna sum this up in one big description. They were all too simple. Beginner should lead up to light, light should lead up to standard. You did good there, but standard should lead up to heavy, and right there, the difficulty of the steps just has a huge gap. I would've rated light mode a 2, and standard mode a 4. And for ratings:
Beginner: 75/120
Light: 75/120
Standard: 90/120
Heavy: These steps match the music pretty well. 120/120
Challenge: It followed the music perfectly. As far as my judging is concerned, there was absolutely nothing wrong with this chart. 120/120
STEPS: 480/600 (80%)
Others-- Song Quality: 200/1000
Graphics: The match the song well. Nice job! 100/100
Readme: Somewhat descriptive. 95/100
OTHERS: 395/400 (98.75%)
TOTAL: 875/1000 (87.5)

"jubeat knit one, purl two" |
Perseus
Steps:
Heavy: I think if this were to appear on DDR, the Singles steps would be mediocre and Doubles (which isn't included :/) would look something like this. 1.7/2
Standard: Also great. 1.7/2
Light: Like Gatchaman, this difficulty wasn't stepped quite as well. 1.5/2
Total: 4.9/6
Other:
Song Quality: Perfect 2/2
Extras: PROS: Graphics and readme are good. CONS: Some of the lyrics run of ahead of the music, and near the beginning, it starts to fade into a video, and quickly returns to the background. Overall, 1.6/2
Total: 3.6/4
SUBTOTAL: 8.5/10
NGO
Steps: The only problem is the streams, some of which were rather long for the mood of the chart. 4.5/6
Song Quality: Perfect. 2/2
Extras: Hehe, "try again". I'll credit you .2 for that (even though it won't matter, because the score would still be 7). .2/2
SUBTOTAL: 6.7/10
L'amour et la liberte (Offset Remix)
Steps:
Light: A little hard for a 2, especially with the use of corner jumps. 1.2/2
Standard: The streams kind of clashed. 1.3/2
Heavy: Nothing wrong other than the oddly arranged sixteenth streams. 1.5/2
Total: 4/6
Other:
Song Quality: Perfect. 2/2
Extras: No readme, and you should have used lighter font colors for the banner. .6/2
Total: 2.6/4
SUBTOTAL: 6.6/10
Let's Dance (Radio Mix)
Steps:
Light: The exact execution of the steps left a little to be desired. 1.4/2
Standard: Good, but vague at some points. 1.2/2
Heavy: Would have liked it better if there was a little more chaos throughout the song. 1.4/2
Total: 4/6
Other:
Song Quality: Perfect. 2/2
Extras: Everything looks good. 2/2
Total: 4/4
SUBTOTAL: 8/10
Hardkore Atomic
Steps:
Beginner: The two halves felt like completely different charts. .3/1.2
Light: Similar to Beginner, but the first half is a little more suited to fit the second. .4/1.2
Standard: It follows the music, but ugh, there's no flow whatsoever. .2/1.2
Heavy: The steps jump between parts of the song an awful lot. .5/1.2
Total: 1.4/6
Other:
Song Quality: Kind of loud. 1.5/2
Extras: Quality of the graphics is good, but I don't like banners that are crops of the backgrounds much. :/ As for the readme, you don't really talk about the song. 1/2

SUBTOTAL: 5/10
Jelly Kiss (Kobo's Step Style)
Steps:
Beginner: Pretty good. 1/1.2
Light: No major issue. 1/1.2
Standard: Suffers from misuse of freezes, jumps, etc. .7/1.2
Heavy: Alright. 1/1.2
Challenge: Same as Standard. .7/1.2
Total: 4.4/6
Other:
Song Quality: Perfect. 2/2
Extras: Everything's good. 2/2

Running in the 90's
Steps: The beginning was offsync, which is factored into your score.
Beginner: Not really Beginner, but I'll forgive you some since it's a 2. .7/1.2
Light: Would have scored higher if not for the eighth notes at the end when the rest is all quarter notes. .6/1.2
Standard: Pretty nice for a 7. .8/1.2
Heavy: Quite fun, I guess. .8/1.2
Challenge: I don't know, a 9-foot Eurobeat song should follow the song more. .6/1.2
Total: 3.5/6
Other:
Song Quality: The actual quality is perfect, but as for the cut, I would have removed a little towards the end. 1.8/2
Extras: Everything's good. 2/2

Time for a much-belated second review post.....
evergreen - kors k
~STEPS~
S-Beginner: I feel as though a couple of these freezes are a bit on the long side for a Beginner chart, but that's the only real complaint I've got, and it's a very minor one. 13/15.
S-Light: I can't complain. 15/15.
S-Standard: Solid steps, though the gallops in the second half do seem a little out-of-place in this chart, and it skews just a bit hard for a six. 12/15
S-Heavy: Fantastic. Never boring, even in the easy part, and it all leads to a rather enjoyable climax. One of very, very few Heavy charts in the contest I feel deserves the full score. 15/15.

Song Quality: Awesome song, quality seems just fine. 20/20.
Extras: Absolutely nothing. No graphics, not even a readme. It's a shame....if it DID have these things, this file could've been a serious contender in this contest. Oh well. 0/20.
TOTAL: 75/100
Face to Face (Cosmo Vitelli Mix) - Daft Punk
~STEPS~
(Having nine difficulties present made this kinda tough, since 60 isn't evenly divisible by 9....the scores given are approximations of a more complicated system I had to use for this one.)
S-Beginner: Probably a bit much for Beginner, especially with all the jumps near the beginning. 5.2/6.7.
S-Light: Not bad at all, though it gets very repetitive in a few sports, even for Light. 5.7/6.7.
S-Standard: Now things are starting to get interesting! There's still a few minor flaws, but I can't complain too much. 6.1/6.7.
S-Heavy: Mostly solid, but there's some noticably awkward parts that definitely detract from the experience. 5.7/6.7.
S-Challenge: VERY fun. If it weren't for a few unnecessarily short freezes, I would've given this the full six points. As is, it still gets a perfectly acceptable 6.1/6.7.
D-Light: Just like the Light chart, repetitiveness is a problem....I suppose it's just a natural pitfall of using a song like this, though. 5.7/6.7.
D-Standard: Pretty good. 6.1/6.7.
D-Heavy: Somehow, I liked these better than the singles steps. 6.1/6.7.
D-Challenge: Same case here. They seem more solidly made than the S-Challenge steps, even despite their watered-down-ness. 6.4/6.7.
~MISCELLANY~
Song Quality: Seems just fine to me. Love the song, by the way. 20/20.
Extras: Graphics leave just a bit to be desired, and the readme is a bit sparse compared to some of the others; on the other hand, I very much appreciate the inclusion of a .lrc file. 16/20.

Gatchaman Song - Jun Saito
~STEPS~
S-Light: I don't really care for the long series of jumps, and the rest of the steps seem terribly uninspired. 12/20.
S-Standard: Same complaint about the jumps here (double-steps are really only interesting when mixed in with other steps, not used exclusively), though some decent parts in the rest of the chart take the score up a bit. 15/20.
S-Heavy: The sheer awesomeness of most of this chart makes my complaint about the excessive jumps pretty much irrelevent here. Good job. 18/20.
~MISCELLANY~
Song Quality: Can't complain. 20/20.
Extras: Graphics suit the song quite well, lrc. file was a nice addition, and the readme is amusing, at least! 20/20.
TOTAL: 85/100
GraviTage - 44teru-k
~STEPS~
S-Beginner: Woooo, yellow note syndrome! I think it goes without saying, but this goes waaaaaay beyond the scope of difficulty of Beginner charts, with all the consecutive quarters in different directions. 1/12.
S-Light: Ughhh....the long series of jumps near the beginning seems terribly unnecessary, and all the chaos is made particularly frustrating by the fact that it doesn't seem synched well to the song at all. 3/12.
S-Standard: Again, the fact that the chaos doesn't seem to follow any noteworthy rhythm in the song is terribly frustrating. The steps are, at least, somewhat interesting. The jumps in the beginning are actually sort of enjoyable this time around. 4/12.
S-Heavy: The steps being off-sync, apparently, is a problem once again, though more minor here somehow. Even as the steps get more interesting, I can only take the score so high when they're not entirely on the rhythm, y'know. 5/12.
S-Challenge: Much better. There's still issues, but they're synched well enough this time to get into the upper half of the scoring system. 7/12.
~MISCELLANY~
Song Quality: Seems you were going for something along the lines of "CHAOS 2.0" here, and while the steps leave a bit to be desired, at least the song itself is well-suited to such a purpose. 16/20.
Extras: That's, uh.....too big to be a banner, I'd think. The song name gets cut off for me in-game. Also, "Unknown Artist"? For shame.... 8/20.
TOTAL: 44/100
Hardkore Atomic - CanBlaster
~STEPS~
S-Beginner: Steps definitely skew a bit too hard for a Beginner of this speed, especially with the two short quarter-note runs at the end. 7.5/15.
S-Light: A bit too jumpy, and the part at the end seems a bit hard for a Light five-footer. Multi-taps on the slowdown also seem rather uninspired. 11/15.
S-Standard: WAY too jumpy. Jumps are best when used sparingly....this is tough, yes, but not interesting in the least. 9/15.
S-Heavy: I have to admit, I liked all the twelfth-note-based chaos on the 181 BPM parts here. Thankfully, the double-step runs are used much more sparingly here, so I can't complain too much about that. I just wished the steps on the slowdown followed the music better.....12/15.
~MISCELLANY~
Song Quality: Just a wee bit too loud, IMO. 18/20.
Extras: Graphics are decent enough. Readme has a few glaring grammatical errors, but that's just me nitpicking; at least it's actually there, unlike some of the simfiles in this contest. 16/20.
TOTAL: 73.5/100
Also, I would like an official ruling on what we're supposed to do concerning Love Me Do...

~MISCELLANY~

I think the best is to count it out of the contest (Love Me Do) since I KNOW that what I uploaded originally is a piece of unplayable crap
, those steps were for the original version of the song which is 1BPM slower btw. I'm not interested in criticism for that, I want criticism for the newly uploaded version, regardless if it will be counted for the final judgement or not.
About the jumps in Gatchaman Song: seriously people, what else fits in that part?!

Double taps? Or maybe a combination of taps and jumps.BTW, Ty, how's it going with your reviews?

If I apply myself......maybe, just maybe, I can finish all these reviews by tomorrow.
L'amour et la liberte (Offset Remix) - NAOKI+eiji in ARCTURUS waters
~STEPS~
S-Light: Meh. A massive double-freeze followed by a whole bunch of up arrows that don't follow anything isn't exactly my idea of fun. 12/20.
S-Standard: The repetitive steps on the freezes in the beginning suffer from the same problem - there's not really anything for them to follow. The streams seem sort of odd, too. 13/20.
S-Heavy: The sixteenths here baffle me - why do they only ever follow the first five notes of the synth? It makes no sense....the rest of the steps are okay, but that really brought it down for me. 13/20
~MISCELLANY~
Song Quality: A great song. As a side note, if I had stepped this, I would've thrown in a slowdown at the beginning. Differing tastes, I suppose. 20/20.
Extras: No readme or lyrics....the graphics are probably just a bit much for this song, though they're decent. 12/20.
TOTAL: 70/100
LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE (Trance Remix) - DOUBLE J feat. CHRIS CROCKER
~STEPS~
S-Challenge: Shockingly, they're not awful. They do leave a bit to be desired, though - all the quarters in the beginning are terribly boring, whereas the long streams near the end don't mesh with the rest of the chart, and the repeated jump bit feels terribly out of place. 40/60.
~MISCELLANY~
Song Quality: A pretty low-quality MP3 of what is, to be honest, a completely unnecessary song. 5/20.
Extras: Graphics aren't the best, but at least they're there. Readme doesn't cover much that wasn't already obvious. 15/20.
TOTAL: 60/100
Let's Dance (Radio Mix) - HI_TACK
~STEPS~
S-Light: Nothing wrong at all, that I can see. These seem pretty much ideal for this type of song's Light chart. 20/20.
S-Standard: There's a few parts near the end that seem a bit too streamy to fit in with the rest of the chart, but otherwise, it's just fine. 15/20.
S-Heavy: Seems kind of odd to me that this is easier than the original's Oni chart, but whatever. There's a couple streams that seem kinda weird for some reason, probably because they try to follow the vocals but don't exactly, but for the most part these steps are excellent. 15/20.
~MISCELLANY~
Song Quality: Great. This is one of those cases where I think I prefer the original over the remix, though this ain't bad at all. 20/20.
Extras: Graphics look just fine to me. Readme is a bit sparse, but gets the job done. 18/20.
TOTAL: 88/100
<3Lonely in Gorgeous<3 (Paradise Kiss Opening) - Tommy February6
~STEPS~
S-Beginner: Are those....eighth notes I see? That really not Beginner material, nor are the short quarter note streams. Stepped like someone who truly doesn't understand what this difficulty's all about....5/15.
S-Light: Too hard for a 3, definitely. I feel that, with songs around this speed, eighth note streams shouldn't even start to appear until we reach four feet at the least. 8/15.
S-Standard: Weird. Just.....weird. Too many arbitrary jumps in the beginning, I feel, just to artificially inflate the difficulty, whereas the long freezes later on are just boring. 7/15.
S-Heavy: More arbitrary jumps, now with completely unnecessary freeze tricks thrown in too! The steps aren't dreadful, for the most part, but these elements seriously drag it down. A lot. 8/15.
~MISCELLANY~
Song Quality: Can't say I'm a fan of this song, but the quality seems perfectly acceptable. And you've gotta love such "innovative" use of the English language! 20/20.
Extras: Graphics are decent, if thoroughly unspectacular. I have no idea what the hell RoyBoyCF was talking about, because I'm looking at the readme right now (and though it's not exactly informative, I am amused by the very DDR-esque difficulty graph), and I definitely saw the lyrics while I was playing. Odd. 18/20.

I'll scrounge the notes I took together and post some reviews later tonight, hopefully. I'm really sorry guys.

I don't mind....it at least gives me more time to finish up my own reviews.
My Console - Eiffel 65
~STEPS~
S-Beginner: Um....what? A horribly balanced Beginner chart, to say the least; there's parts that are far too simple for the two-footer rating you've given it, and complicated parts that have absolutely no place in a Beginner chart at all. 6/12.
S-Light: Not bad, not bad at all. 10/12.
S-Standard: I can't help but feel as if some of these streams are very oddly, arbitrarily placed. 8/12.
S-Heavy: Actually kind of fun. Good job. 10/12.
S-Challenge: I absolutely adore these steps. The difficulty feels just about right for this song. 12/12.
~MISCELLANY~
Song Quality: Um....hurrah for shameless advertising? Heh. I quite like this, actually, and the quality's just fine. 20/20.
Extras: A nice, informative readme, and graphics that seem perfectly suited to such a song. I can't complain. 20/20.
TOTAL: 86/100
NahaNaha vs Gattchoon Battle - DJ Senda & Tiny.K
~STEPS~
S-Light: Utterly nonsensical. These steps don't flow well AT ALL. 10/20.
S-Standard: Better, though there's still a few weird bits, and the steps at the end that lead you to believe they're following the horns, when they're actually following the lyrics, seem kinda weird. 15/20.
S-Heavy: Maybe a bit too hard for eight-footerdom at the end (and, conversely, much too simple in the beginning). There's still switches between following the music and following the lyrics that are kinda jarring, too. 12/20.
~MISCELLANY~
Song Quality: A nice, decent quality MP3 that allows the sheer oddness-slash-awesomeness of this song to come through. 20/20.
Extras: These graphics just don't work for a "silly" song like this. Also, glaring lack of readme. 8/20.
TOTAL: 65/100
NGO - Keiichi Nabeshima
~STEPS~
S-Challenge: Oddly enough, this is one of the few new SN2 songs I actually felt got a decent stepchart. Not sure re-charting it was necessary, especially not with.....this. As has already been mentioned, some of the long streams clash with the rest of the chart, and the chaos on the slowdowns isn't exactly well-synched. 35/60.
~MISCELLANY~
Song Quality: Just fine. 20/20.
Extras: Absolutely minimal effort deserves an absolutely minimal score. 1/20.
TOTAL: 56/100
Perseus - Hitomi Shimatani
~STEPS~
S-Light: I think this is actually a bit too easy for a four-footer. 16/20.
S-Standard: Mostly solid. I deducted a couple points for slightly excessive freeze usage, though. 18/20.
S-Heavy: The freezes fit in with this chart much better, bridging the gap between chaos portions, which I quite enjoyed by the way. A great chart, and indeed, very much in the spirit of "ANGELUS". 20/20.
~MISCELLANY~
Song Quality: Nothing to complain about, nothing at all. 20/20.
Extras: Nice graphics and readme. I'm not experiencing the lyric- and movie-related problems RoyBoyCF was, either. 20/20.
TOTAL: 94/100
Pippi Girl (SPEEDO MIX) - JENNY ROM
~STEPS~
S-Light: This is pretty much the definition of "excessive jumps". Yikes. Also, Light charts should, by no means, ever have higher Voltage than the Standard chart! 10/20.
S-Standard: Better. They're pretty fun, actually, but perhaps multi-taps are a bit much for a six-footer at such a high speed. 16/20.
S-Heavy: The opener is too hard, ruining the gradually increasing difficulty the rest of the song aims for. They're damn fun, though. 16/20.
~MISCELLANY~
Song Quality: Hah. I adore this song, which surprised me because I'm usually not much of a Jenny Rom fan. 20/20.
Extras: Nice graphics....but that's it. No readme, lyrics, nothin'. 12/20.
TOTAL: 74/100

(Apologies for my lateness here - but I can still guarantee that I'll be finished by next Sunday.)

"Magic Parade with me!" |
I know this is really bad, but I'm going extend it one more week and if all the reviews including mine aren't in by then we'll just put it up to a vote.
I'm sorry!

"Popular bisexual disaster" |
Oh good, I can actually reserve some time for this week.
