Pretty tame for a 13. It does have tougher rhythms and jumps before 16th clusters, etc. I sort of wonder why they elected to just use freeze arrows during those parts with a lot of rhythms though.

Hopeful and Determination should both be 1 rating lower than they are.

Don't know why they decided to rate Determination a 14 - every other 14 I can think of in that 220-260bpm range (Samurai Shogun, Houkago Stride, Nephilim Delta) is significantly harder in terms of both stamina/step count and patterning.

It unlocked at 10AM JST for non-US machines. It does not unlock until 10AM PST for US cabinets... at least from what I can tell.

Note the time in the bottom-right. US has a separate timezone mention.

I feel there's definitely been a way of prescribing levels in more recent iterations of the game (from my view, anyway); 12's usually have around 300+ steps, 13's around 300-400+, 14's 400--500+, 15's 500-600+, 16s, 600-700+, and so on, and I feel they're marked that way regardless of step pattern complexity. In my view, difficulty should be based more on how complex the patterns can get, rather than pure note count, because a 13 that's mostly 190 bpm 8th streams versus a 13 that's 140 bpm with complex 16th patterns shouldn't necessarily be on the same plane, even if the former has something like 100+ more notes than the latter.

So I feel Determination lives up to its difficulty on pad. It's easy to correlate total stepcounts with difficulty, but that doesn't mean songs like Possession challenge is a 16 only because there are 643 steps. Konami was likely basing it more on the nature of the song's stepchart itself, particularly in its speed and patterns. I've noticed Konami rated older songs this way, but since lot of the newer charts are more straightforward with more notes, I feel that this way of determining difficulty is lost.

This whole note count thing has been a dead topic for a couple years now. We have multiple 12s and 13s now with 500+ notes, such as Marisa (insert rest of title here) which has over 500 notes and is a 12. Songs like that and VEGA have continued to show that ratings are given based on patterns, gimmicks, and overall skill requirement rather than step count or song length.

I said in my post that Determination is easier than those other 14s in stamina/step count and patterning. The entire chart has what, like 1 crossover? I don't see any difficult patterns - it's mostly just fairly straightforward 8th streams. The other 14s I listed have many more crossovers and complicated patterns (and are much less relentless in the 8th streams they throw at you) that someone seeing the chart for the first time could easily mess up.
