The gradual speedup after halfway that then halves back down seems REALLY jarring and if anything having it just go faster for an ending would have been a lot more fitting for an Extra Stage track.
Yeah, why did they not go for it? It's an Extra Stage, it'd go up to 444. They've done speeds like that before, and in a song that sounds that manic at the end, to puss out like that is just pathetic.Post #2422 · Posted at 2016-08-10 09:16:05am 9 years ago

I'm gonna be that guy that disagrees with most people but honestly, I don't mind cytokinesis' chart. Sure the speed changes are a bit different and it's not as difficult as we expected it to be but the chart flows pretty well. I actually kind of like it.

I kinda agree but the first half of the song is kinda bad but the end makes up for it for me
And jesus astrogazer is soooo damn gooooood
Damn you totto for making such a awesome song.

Both charts look pretty tricky, but I feel that Cytokinesis' chart was a "missed opportunity". It's a cool song with tempo changes that could've had - and deserved - a much better chart. On the other hand, Astrogazer is a great song with a great and tough-looking chart to match!

Cytokinesis NEEDS a challenge chart, no doubt.

Speaking of
charts...
I remember back in DDR 2013, you could check if there were hidden charts by picking that difficulty on a certain song, then scroll over new songs that don't appear to have them, and checking to see if there are purple lights coming from the machine.
Did this carry over in DDR A?
Regarding the new unlocks:
The BPM changes on Cytokinesis look like they have been carried over from RB groovin'!!. The issue with this is that BPM changes in REFLEC BEAT can be masked by using scroll speeds within a chart, making these changes unnoticeable. Since this doesn't occur in DDR, it looks awkward as hell.
Astrogazer
looks like a fun time, and the song itself sounds pretty kickass. I hope TOTTO will make more songs with this style in the future.

It seems Cytokinesis and S!ck are part of a special entries in EXTRA SAVIOR called "Bass Music Selection" (not related to the volume system shown in the begining), so it will be possible to expect more crossovers each week, at least in this month.
Also S!ck will be available the next week (8/17)

It's been PFC'd already?! I thought some of the gimmicks were nigh-impossible to time.
EDIT: Also, Dr. D (on stream) PFC'd Astrogazer in his sightread.
Also, Astrogazer is so far the best song of DDR A, hands down. It's really well done, both in song and in chart. It might just be my new favourite 16-footer.

Not necessarily, since it seems DDR A has been held back in terms of difficulty.Considering that there are more 15+ Expert charts (with harder Basic and Difficult charts as a result) introduced in 2014 than there were in MAX to X, I wouldn't blame them if they avoided Challenge charts altogether unless they thought of gimmicky charts instead of harder stuff.

The song reminds me a lot of GAIA and that's a good thing since I love that song as well.

It did not. The cabinet lights now flash based on BPM and change color based on the life meter (blue and white for normal, rainbow for full meter, and red for danger).

Finally got to play Poochie Expert after catching my breath from the other night. LOL Wed Night I think I waited maybe 45 minutes, maybe longer? Got to play once. Totally worth it though. Have the entire babylon's thing now and my fav song unlocked (poochie) that i can just relax and try to unlock other songs no pressure
plus i still had level 9 from being level 3 the other time which was awesome, i guess they give it to you both before and after you play? or maybe just after.
anyways fucking love this game. so many people are getting into it COLD (playing based on seeing other people play it) . people of all kinds are GEEKING OUT on this game, it's genuinely spreading!! GO DDR A~~~ NEW ERA~~~~~~
EDIT
Any songs in the extra stage folders that are time sensitive to unlock?

I am really hoping they give us some way to get the DDR 2nd mix remixes, because those were all really good and I can't figure out why they were taken off the U.S. release. Maybe they are somehow technically licenses?

They were written for a limited edition re-release of the DDR 2nd Mix OST, so there's probably some sort of licensing involved.
I'm 99% sure they're also mentioned on the Attract Screen as licensed songs.

Yep, they're technically the only remaining Dancemania songs left that aren't in any pre-X2 game besides the NONSTOP MEGAMIXES in MAX2. ( Well it appeared on the OSt that was presented by Dancemania I believe, not really a core Dancemania song)
Part of the reason why X3 never got released here in the US was due to the liscenes

That can't be true. We've seen that if licenses were ever an issue, they either would've been taken out for the American version completely or even had new licenses swapped in. Both had happened in games prior to X3.
Post #2439 · Posted at 2016-08-11 06:36:07pm 9 years ago
Well now that half of the liscenes in X3 has been taken out by the time A got released here, it must've been easier for Konami to get A here in the states. Remember that all of the nonKOs in x3 were purged during the 2014 location test
Also, the US versions of mixes prior to X3 were unchanged in terms of licenses, since not all of them were Jpop or core Dancemania songs.
