Hi - I'm new here! I registered to this website, simply because the info in it was just what I was looking for (i.e. the different song lists of the arcade versions). Anyway, can somebody tell me whether they're just going to give away an upgrade kit for SuperNOVA owners for SuperNOVA 2, or are they just going to create dedicated cabinets? Also, if they're creating dedicabs, is it going to be more advanced than the original SN (i.e. speakers, T.V., etc.)? Thanks.

Erm, they aren't gonna give away free upgrade kits/dedicabs to arcades.
And no one knows what the components will be in the new dedicabs. ;)

i hope the cabinets look like IIDX's, with widescreen and super-bass and stuff. In fact, i hope all bemani cabs have that!

I don't mind the T.V. the machine has now - I would just like it even "clearer", and I would like the speakers better sounding. In other words, I want SOME SORT of upgrade from the SN dedicab to the SN2 dedicab, so that at least SOMETHING'S changed besides the game itself. 8)

I’m with you 100%. To be honest, the machine (not the game its self) Extreme to SuperNOVA I think was a downgrade. Smaller pads, smaller screen, and worst speakers. I recently played DDR Extreme for the 1st in about a year, and man did I miss it. Call me crazy, but DDR Extreme is better then DDR SuperNOVA. If you play a SuperNOVA machine then play a Extreme Machine (or Extreme than play SuperNOVA) you’ll know what I mean.
Oh and welcome to the team.

All Extreme machines I've played on have a "1996 cassette tape" sound. One of the places around me has SuperNOVA VERY loud, and I think it sounds *amazing*. In fact, I've never heard sound like that hardly anywhere. I totally disagree with you about the T.V. I belive that technically, both Extreme's and SuperNOVA's T.V.s are "29 inches". SN's T.V. seems to be more of a flat-screen, and the image is very "clear". I think that image is both the work of the T.V., and the fact that it's running off of a PS2.

Thanks!

Most Supernova's I've come across are upgraded Extremes - the only dedicab I've played on IIRC was in a Game Zone last August when it had just came in, and it felt really good. (Of course, I was used to playing on loose pads on an old Extreme).
That one experience was heightened by an interesting quirk of that Game Zone - for buying this $10 meal, you got a 30-minute game card for the arcade... and the Supernova kept track of the credits you swiped in even after the 30 minutes were up. I ended up with over 25 credits and had to play loads of doubles to get rid of them (which also involved failing Angels several times, to my amusement). That experience was what got me into doubles. For an example of how broken that card system is: the kids I met the day before had one of them continuously swiping the card for the 30 minutes, and they had over 200 credits and planned on staying until nightfall... anyway with that being my only experience on a Supernova dedicab, I find it hard to criticize them. On the other hand, I think Baka of the Orochi told me that that machine had really gone downhill since then, and that the staff didn't take care of it at all. *shrugs* I wouldn't know because I went there on a vacation to Illinois (8-12 hour drive, I forget).

A lot of people on DDR forums say they don't have many dedicabs of SuperNOVA around them. I guess I'm lucky by having about 6 dedicabs within a 30-minute drive. In fact, there's only one upgraded Extreme which is about 30 minutes away from me. And, out of those 6, there's only 1 that's 1.) loud, 2.) no one uses it, and 3.) it gives you a whopping 5 songs for 2 tokens. And, did I mention that that same arcade gives you 5 lives for House of the Dead 4 for only 3 tokens! I think I live in an arcade heaven - I have 2 GameWorks that both have SN dedicabs, 3 movie theatres (Cobb Theatres), and ALL of them have SN dedicabs (although 2 out of the 3 movie theatres had them turned off temporarily when I went), and a neighborhood arcade that has a dedicab (the one that gives you 5 songs). 8)

*crosseyed*
When I'm at home, I have access to a 5th mix ($0.50/3 songs), of which the pads actually just got cleaned and the sensors replaced. That's the only DDR in town. When I go back to college in the fall, the arcade in the Union has a locked Extreme (also $0.50/3 songs). Either way we don't get much traffic. There's also Soul Calibur 1 for a quarter, Point Blank, and a bunch of other games I don't care about.
In the next town over from home is a Cool Crest with unpatched Supernova, $0.75/3 songs and JP. They also have an unlocked Extreme with no JP, which seems to get more attention from the few times I've been up there. I almost never go there though, because I don't have a car/license and have to rely on others (read: my parents) to get me up there. I'm definitely old enough for a license, I just haven't gotten it because I hate driving.
There's also an arcade maybe an hour and a half north of here that has sooo much goodness... DanceManiaX 2nd, ParaPara, PoMu, Beatmania 3rd, IIDX 8th, and also an r21 ITG2. They had an unlocked Extreme (with hacked Brake/Wave/0.5x accessible, no less!) but the 2P down arrow didn't respond, and apparently the regulars there only cared about the ITG so the owners didn't want to fix the pad. They did have a crapload of stuff on that r21 (I got to play Bye Bye Baby Balloon, and got to fail miserably at Flash In the Night during the opening runs) XD
Anyway they're supposed to be getting/have already gotten the latest PoMu sometime.
But yeah, pretty much that and all of Kansas City's stuff is almost always out of my reach. On the other hand, I don't think too many people can say they've full-comboed Hot Limit! =o

For PS2, it will be few songs
It needs more than 70 songs, if not, that DDR will be the best boring DDR, and in the database, it is listed 39 songs only, it is horrible

That's because we don't know all the songs yet. Wait till next month and we will know the rest.

So, are there going to be any upgrades/advancements in the SuperNOVA 2 machine, or are we going to get the same T.V., speakers, etc.? That would really suck if there were no leaps in technology from SN1 to SN2. There's no need to upgrade, but I think they should make everything even better
!

I know this is a random bump, and yeah, it's old info. So sue me.
But the SN2 dedicabs are the EXACT SAME as SN1. I mean, component wise. Same pads, monitor, etc;. The Jersey Gardens test had a SN2 dedicab. Now it might just be me, but the monitor looked extremely clear. But it might just be because it was quite new when I went to see it. I don't have any SN1 dedicabs around me, so who knows.

Yeah that's cos from SuperNOVA onwards, the resolution got bumped up to 640x480 and is in progressive scan 60 frames per second. That's why it looks very clear on screens that support that.
