ZIv Contest 2025 (FIFTEEN YEARS OF ZIv SIMFILE CONTESTS)

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the first official ZIv Simfile Contest ever hosted! However, I didn't want this to be the first year since 2010 without an official Zenius -I- vanisher Summer Contest! So I am hosting my own!

As tribute to the classic summer contests that I grew up on, the rules will be very simple and follow in ZIv Summer Contest 2010's style.


DEADLINE: I will keep the deadline as it was fifteen years ago at Monday @ 5pm EDT/2pm PDT/9pm UTC. Late entries are accepted up until 3 hours after the deadline, but please do not submit late every week or you may be disqualified. Late votes are not accepted.

Please understand that this contest is an effort to keep the wonderful site of Zenius -I- vanisher -5th Style- II alive, so all discourse regarding this contest should be kept to ZIv.

SCHEDULE: Weeks will alternate between voting weeks and stepchart weeks.

Speaking of which, the theme to ZIv Summer Contest 2025 Round 1 is...

[Round 1 - ZIv EDIT WEEK]

To meet this theme, you must submit a stepchart to a song that has been previously stepped by someone other than you and uploaded to ZIv. This can be an edit of a DDR XX original, a song from a previous simfile contest, or any other song that does not originate from DDR itself. So no DDR EDITS, but any other song appearing on ZIv is fair game. Feel free to use the search function to see if your song counts for the theme.

I think it goes without saying, but DO NOT COPY ANY OF THE STEPS OR GRAPHICS FROM THE FILE YOU ARE EDITING. Please make a new simfile entirely, just using the same song that they did.

The deadline for Round 1 is July 21st. The round will officially start on the 14th, so please do not upload your simfiles until then.

If you would like to sign up for the contest, please message in the thread saying you would like to sign up! Remember that you will be making at least one simfile every other week, so if you are participating in other ongoing simfile contests not associated with Zenius -I- vanisher, you are still more than welcome to participate!

I have one more thing to mention:
The winner of each week gets to choose the theme for the next week! So if you place 1st in the week, you get to decide what the theme that everyone in the contest will have to follow!

Unlike previous contests, there is no winner of the overall contest and no VIP room, so each round is a new chance to take 1st! Give it your best each week!

I am not really too sure if this counts as some type of steeling. ZIV contests rebranded for a reason. I do not think they want the name to be used at all. I think if you don't want people having emotions, just rename the contest & do it having the same description saying your celebrating 15 years of contests on this website or whatever. Personally I do not care though with what happens. Good luck though

Yes, we have rebranded our server to Triple Cross and have dropped the ZIv title, but you are very clearly trying to leech off of the success of our contests and try to fool people into thinking this is the continuation of everything we have done in there for so many years.

I and I’m sure everybody else have no problems if you wanna run events and stuff, honestly the more the better, more content that gets put out there the longer these games survive, but you know what you’re doing naming it this and I would just simply ask you to choose a different one.

Disappointing considering we were just talking about any kind of unban potential for you just a few days ago and then you go and do something like this.

Is it really that big of a deal? You could say by moving to Discord that “Triple Cross” is just reheating ziv’s nachos and has been for a while now… just because your community is fracturing doesn’t mean you should come to the source and cause drama. Ask me how I know. /s /rhetorical

It’s being intentionally deceptive and you know it, you’re just being obtuse because this is something you’d actually be allowed to participate in. And to your last point, if this goes ahead, we can just compare the signups and participation levels LOL

I am completely unaware of the internal drama that may have occurred, but there are two options: either there is misgivings about the title of the topic or it is spite for something that happened.

I don't think it's for people to "know it" unless they're aware of who people are within the community. I don't know anything about Darkanine and this thread looked like the usual yearly ZIv contest, and isn't it a different person doing it each year anyway?
