ZIv's Summer Contest 2010

Here it is, my next big project. I was going to do a simfile tounament, but me and some other members of the site thought of a better idea. Here is how it will go.

(How it works)
Each week, a theme will be announced. (Example: DDR Edit, License song, ect) At the end of the week, a vote will take place to deiced the winner of that week. After that, a new theme will be announced and so on.

All of this will start May 3rd

(song judge rules)
One week will be up for submissions, then the next will be judging.

JUDGING: Simfiles will be voted under an easy score system. Pick your top 3 favorite simfiles of the week. The system goes like this:

1st place: 3 pts
2nd Place: 2 pts
3rd Place: 1 pts

RULES:
1. You can NOT vote for your own song
2. ALL SONGS WILL BE PAD CHARTS. They can be DDR or ITG style.
3. Autogen steps of ANY sort will NOT be allowed.
4. You can have more then one entry. 5 is the max
5. must have at least - charts
6. Banners and Backgrounds are not required, but they are suggested
7. When submitting your simfile, it needs to be the weeks theme, then the song title. EXAMPLE: DDR EDIT - Healing Vision
8. All songs must be under 2:30. (In less the theme of the week says other wise)
9. All songs must be under the old 1-10 DDR or ITG's 1-13 Rating system.
10. You are required to vote or else your entries will be disqualified. refusal to vote = disqualification for the week


Deadline is every Monday @ 5PM EST

For the rest of April, I want everyone to say what kind of themes that we can use. Also post other changers that you want to see like have 2 weeks instead of 1 and so on.

The voting system is flawed as people are usually away from their computer on weekends.

I suggest you use the first week for entries to submit.
Use the following week for that week's entries and on the deadline, announce the winner of the previous week.

That way, people can have an entire week to vote for their preferred simfile.

J-Pop theme onegai shimasu~~~!

I like the idea of having as little time as possible to work on the simfile for this tournament so what you can do is this (assuming that you count Sunday as the first day of the week):

week 1: announce theme at the beginning of the week; deadline at 11:59 Saturday
week 2: announce theme and voting for the previous week at the beginning of the week; deadline to submit and vote at 11:59 Saturday
week 3: announce theme for the week and winner for week one; begin voting for the previous week; votes and submission (lol) at 11:59 saturday
week 4: etc

I hope that makes sense and clears up any confusion.

Also I think we need to agree on if these need to be paddable or not. It could throw off voting if simfiles are mixed between being pad and keyboard style.

A sonic theme only ? Better go with a Genesis theme. So other song game can join. (+ there is a "Nes flashback").

I saw 29 theme, that's really to much. Some of them could be add together.
DDR/ITG/PIU -> arrows game
DJMAX/DJHero -> DJ catégory (maybe add Elite Beat Agents/Osu! Tatake! Ouendan! and rename the category so)

There is too many theme imo. Except if you want to do all of them only once.
So you can keep your list and add some.

I fear on some particular theme that you will got 0 or 1 submission only :s

That's a pretty solid list. I can't really think of anything to add. In fact, I kind of agree with PanStyle that this list is going to need some serious weeding or doubling-up, if only to fit the fact that summer is only like 13 weeks long

I like that Doubles and Solo are separate categories.

Also, THIS IS COOL IDEA BRO.

So... what does ITG mean? We all make ITG style steps? Same for PIU... we make PUMP steps? (I'm totally down for that!). What's 12th beat?

Teleperion, the problem with Marathon is that it could be could be any song as long as it meets the requirement for StepMania of being more than 5:00 long.
My idea behind Long Versions would be specifically for Bemani Long Versions (I dibs D now, no such thing as too far ahead of time ). Probably should have made that more clear.

you can't call dibs on a song. Two people will end up using the same songs, so it comes down to a matter of which simfile is better.

OMG I TOTALLY FORGOT THIS WAS HAPPENING SOON.

You probably won't need that many more themes (if any more at all... remember how many weeks summer is), but 300+ / Dynamic BPM are ideas. Also, for the timing: how about this...

I'll have a song limit cap for Marathon.
