Have they forgotten how to do a crossover pattern that is playable, and doesn't end expecting you to turn 180 back in 16th speed or just doublestep all of them becasue you just can't trust crosses in this game to lead anywhere
Also good job mixing slow bpm 8ths and double bpm 16ths so they are 8th notes so there's absolutely no clue when it's changing.
I really didn't see anything wrong with any of the crossovers though. Cross one foot over on the sideways jumps (LD to DR) and alternate on the rest of the chart. What part on this chart was unplayable to you? Also good job mixing slow bpm 8ths and double bpm 16ths so they are 8th notes so there's absolutely no clue when it's changing.
None of the speedups seemed completely random, either, not did it ever speed up in the middle of 180 BPM 16ths. If the speed were to double, the chart went from 8ths at 180 to quarters at 360.

Yeah, I don't know how to explain it, but I was never caught off guard by any of the speed changes past the first one; the I found it pretty easy to read where the 90-180-360 switches were, as soon as I was aware it was a song that went to 360.
As far as patterns go, I'm pretty sure it's technically all alternate-step possible, but most people don't usually cross on sideways jumps (LD to DR), and plus there's a few patterns where you have to L-D-R-L, which a lot of people would rather just doublestep (as hitting the right panel with your left foot followed by immediately hitting the left panel with your right is not the most fun thing).
I'd say this chart is decent; it's not the most fun thing, but I didn't reach the end of the chart thinking "what the hell was that?". Then again, the last chart I consider that bad (that's not a 19) is Pluto The First, so...

It makes for a good challenge. Like Xepher and Osaka Evolved, both are rated level 15, but Osaka Evolved is much more challenging than Xepher simply because of the speedups and slowdowns.
But like Osaka Evolved, speed ups and slow downs are pointless when there's too much packed in one song.

Osaka EVOLVED's speed ups/slow downs weren't pointless though, all of the tempo switches (except the 250, that could've been 125) are actually in the song; listen to it.
Yes, even the 300 - that's a 3/4 time signature, that's counted in one (dotted half note = 100) for three beats (so three entire measures of 3), then half note = 150 for 2 beats (1 measure), at 300, with the pulses written 3/4 --> 3/4 --> 3/4 --> 2/2, dotted half note = 300, quarter note = quarter note.
EDIT: Also, Osaka Evolved's much more challenging than Xepher because it's foot-motions are much harder, too - there's a lot more crossovers at 200 or 250 BPM, and depending on version, a lot more jumps than Xepher has.
EDIT #2: Also, there are examples of speed-ups in DDR that are pointless - I'm not disagreeing with you there. Osaka's just a bad example. VDO's much worse for this.

It's like comparing apples with oranges, but it was the best thing off the top of my head. Osaka Evolved is one of the toughest 15s and Xepher is somewhere in the middle, so it kinda gave a little bit of a point. And they aren't nowhere near Valkyrie Dimension's craziness. (This is what they call CHAOS on the groove radar. Ask CHAOS about it sometime)

From what I can see, those arrows look easier to read than the singles since it's the same amount of arrows for twice as many lanes, decreasing the density of the patterns, which are quite simple in the slower parts.

Interesting. I always have more trouble reading slow portions on Double, simply because I normally need a lower speed modifier, and I usually need advance pattern comprehension compared to Single. This song is no exception.Post #4134 · Posté à 2017-05-27 04:13:24pm il y a 7.3 années

Ah yes, the infamous Afronova Walk - that one's a very famous pattern, given it's bad enough that it's named after the song that used it first; I actually find it worse than the HDVO pattern (another one that's infamous for similar reasons). Ironically enough, in the original Afronova, it's fairly easy to double-step that; I've never tried to do that legit. MEI is a much worse example, because wtf 16ths at 200 why would you do that

Actually, that step sequence in AFRONOVA appeared before 3rdMIX; you can see variations of it in SP-TRIP MACHINE ~JUNGLE MIX~ S-. The pattern is still commonplace in modern stepcharts like PRANA on either mode.Quote: wrsw

Try it out then. It's a little difficult at first, but once you can do it smoothly, a lot of seemingly complex charts like 創世ノート become a lot easier to play. I personally find it rather enjoyable as long as it's not incredibly fast like the example you gave above. Mastering that step pattern also makes transitioning to Double a little easier, if you ever want to look into that. Post #4137 · Posté à 2017-05-27 05:44:17pm il y a 7.3 années

The Afronova walks are more easier for me than the stream from 嘆きの樹 and Over the "Period" charts where it starts as a 16th note stream with 24th notes thrown into the stream. I think 16th note streams (yes, even Afronova walks) are easier because they consistently hold the same rhythm, the 24th notes forces you to go faster and then slow down to keep the same pace with the 16th notes.

That doubles chart is crossover heavy and I love it.
Very consistent. I'm guessing Basic and Difficult follow suit.

At this point it'd be refreshing to see more boss songs that don't use them, imo. I'm not anti-speed-gimmicks, but they do seem to be mainstream in DDR boss charts as of late. I wanna just pick whatever song sounds cool and not think "mehhh I don't know the stops in this one, so let's not..."

Actually, it's only this one and Neutrino that have speed changes that presents any challenge. The rest of the bosses were either static or had pretty straightforward pace changes.
