When's the next simfile contest, Pandy? Well how about right now? Introducing the ZIv Simfile Shuffle!! Me and Silverhawke are teaming up to bring you the next big contest!
http://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v5.2/viewsimfilecategory.php?categoryid=800
HOW WILL THIS BABY WORK?:
Everyone who's in will send a music file to Silverhawke. The songs will then be shuffled and a random song will be assigned to everyone. You have one week to do the random simfile you are given. It is pretty much Summer Contest rules after that.
CONTEST RULES:
1. You must submit a music file in order to play in the round.
2. You are required to vote. Failure to vote will disqualify your entry for the week.
3. You are not allowed to vote for your own song.
4. Maximum 1 song a week (because you are only given one song)
5. Entries must be uploaded by the deadline (Sunday 11:59 PM EST every week). No exceptions.
6. The entries must be named accordingly: [ROUND 1] - SONG. Yes, that includes the hyphen.
SONG SUBMISSION RULES:
1. Don't intentionally cheese your submission.
2. Songs submitted are required to be less than two minutes and thirty seconds. That means you have to cut it beforehand.
3. Submit a SM skeleton alongside with the music file. This must include the BPM tag and the OFFSET tag, minimum.
4. Don't intentionally cheese your submission.
5. Again, DO NOT intentionally cheese your submission.
Note: Song submission is open to everyone. Songs submitted by non-participants will be set aside on the backup pile. More on "backup pile" later.
SIMFILE RULES:
1. at least S-,, and are required, any other chart is optional.
2. Songs must be rated in DDR's old scale of 1-10 or ITG's scale of 1-13.
5. No keyboard charts. DDR/ITG charts only.
5. Automatically generated steps are not allowed.
6. You must whatever music file is given to you, no exceptions.
7. You are given ONE veto right for the whole contest, usable anytime you wish.
8. If you are given a song you already stepped, you may opt to get another song, drawn out from the backup pile randomly. This does NOT count as veto-ing the song.
9. Songs rejected due to rule #8 will be put into the backup pile.
Elaborating on the veto: If you are assigned a song you don't want to step, you are allowed to use your one and only veto to dismiss that song. The song assigned to you will be drawn out from the backup pile randomly and you must step that song.
SIMFILE VOTING: (nothing new here)
Vote for 5 songs and the winner is decided on which simfile has the highest score.
1st: 5pts
2nd: 4pts
3rd: 3pts
4th: 2pts
5th: 1pts
Do note the songs assigned and adjust accordingly, i.e. "this chart isn't that good but this is the best you can pull out of this song. 10/10"
TIMES
Week 1. Send in your song files for ROUND 1
Week 2. Songs are picked at random; you have 1 week to do it. Send in song files for the ROUND 2.
Week 3. Judgement starts on ROUND 1 songs and submissions for ROUND 2 songs begin, Send in songs for ROUND 3.
After that it's rinse and repeat.
Signups start now and the contest will start January 14th.

I'm (probably) in. still confused about the song system.
so everyone submitted a song, the songs submitted will be shuffled, and then everyone get the different song to step?
does it work like this?
A submitted Song A
B submitted Song B
C submitted Song C
D submitted Song D
and then those songs are shuffled
A will step Song D
B will step Song A
C will step Song B
D will step Song C

No one will get their own song.
My point of this is to get people out of their "comfort zone", if any. So at least you get to be exposed to different kinds of music that may or may not be easy to step. But that's the challenge.

What if the song you get is something you've already stepped? That would break the rule of not being able to enter previously-submitted files....

6. If you get a song you have done before, you need to make a new file for it and not re-upload the old file of the song.

I also made things.
I'd prefer you use the 512x160 and 512x512 banners and jackets. They look better than their 256 counterparts in my opinion. I'm only using the 256 ones to reduce page stretching.
Background (720p)
1080p
640x480
Banner (256x80)
512x160
418x164 (ITG)
Jacket (256x256)
512x512
512x512 SERIES FOLDER
256x256 SERIES FOLDER

I'm in.
May I suggest that when voting for "steppableness", we can also vote to veto the simfile if we honestly don't think it'll be possible to make a quality file out of it? And if more than half the people involved vote to veto, it gets replaced?
That'll prevent or at least discourage people from shitting up the contest by submitting joke entries, or terrible song cuts.
Big Question
Can we re-cut the song that's been assigned to us, to make it more playable?

3. You are not allowed to vote for your own song.
For clarification, does this mean the song we submit or the song we step?
Either way, I'm in on this.
